Okay, so I watched my friend play about halfway through this game before I picked it up myself, and my only regret about it was not going in with only the minimal amount of knowledge about gameplay. I think this game is more enjoyable the less you know about it going in.

Everyone else says that the basic gameplay is like the old Paper Mario games that people have been wanting for years, and while yeah, that is true, there's still a lot here that makes the game it's own unique thing.

For one, you have only have the same 3 characters for the entire game, and each excel in their own areas. Additionally, mechanics like turn relay create for interesting (or maybe not-so-interesting, depending on your playstyle imo) battle strategy as you figure out what you need most in the current moment. The game also has a toggleable "hard mode" that is actually difficult, which gives a nice breath of air to the game for a 2nd playthrough if that's your thing. As someone not too familiar with actually playing these types of games, I found the standard difficulty to be challenging enough for a first-timer playthrough, although those familiar with the original Paper Mario could elect to play entirely on hard and still find challenge.

Those familiar with Paper Mario will certainly find a lot more of these comparisons throughout the game - beyond the battle system - when you stumble across something and be like "hey, that's just like [item]!" or "this reminds me of [mechanic/area]". For those looking to 100% the game in an unofficial definition, there's plenty of this stuff to find.

Where I feel this game shines a lot more though is everything outside of the gameplay. The artstyle is also very similar to old PM in that it uses a lot of flat scenery and characters with some models mixed in, but it's clear that they definitely wanted to make much of it unique in its own way. Also nifty how all the bugs are based off of actual ones in the wild.
The music is catchy in its own right, one that I find there somehow seems to be no shortage of ambience that matches each area it's set to. Incidentially this also makes for a nice soundtrack to throw on in the background of work or something, due to the wide variety of instruments and areas.
The writing is excellent, too. The main party is by far the most fleshed out, but it's really nice to see how they all progress through the story from this incredibly oddball trio that don't seem to mesh together at all into a strong-bonded team that trust each other, even if their past selves still exist in bits and pieces. I found a lot of the spy/tattle conversations to be amusing as well, as everyone has their own views on each thing which leads to funny banter when they disagree.

Now, not to say this is a perfect game. I still find it has flaws from a personal perspective.
I find the ending kinda... fizzles? The end of the story comes pretty quickly once you reach the final areas, and while the final boss is thematically amazing, the remaining plot closes out rather quickly following that.
100% completionists beware of the recipe log. I completed this on my first playthrough and after a bit it sorta just became this long grocery list of items to purchase to cook, although this was done before the 1.1 patch where they added a recipe seller, so I can't comment too much on that.
Until the very endgame, I found I was strapped on currency sometimes for the things I wanted, which leads to the inherent problem of grinding battles for them. Some methods still exist to exploit this to its fullest extent, although said methods also aren't available until near endgame anyways, so that's more of a moot point.

All in all, while the game still has some issues, this is an incredibly solid indie that you should look at if you were a fan of the old Paper Mario games, as you'll find enough familiarity here with it's own touch of fresh mechanics and charm.

Solid 9/10.

Compared to at least Seal the Deal, this DLC is definitely way better.

The Metro is a "free" roam area (In the sense that you can free roam, but the game kind of pushes you to play/complete areas in order. Don't forget to grab the metro keys.) You'll also want a LOT of pons for all the cosmetics that you can buy, if color palettes and hat flairs are your things as well. Like, seriously, to get everything from one merchant can take around 500 pons, and there's at least 5 (didn't count) scattered throughout, with a few that sell higher value items (200 range).

Online party is really fun, especially if you decide to start getting mods in. Get in a discord call with your buddies and do what you want, maybe race a time piece, maybe just explore together.

If you want only one of the level DLCs, this is probably the one you should choose.

Guacamelee 2 was an amazing game, and the devs did a great job on improving and expanding the original game's concepts. I definitely recommend this for those that like beat 'em up style gameplay mixed with Metroidvania platforming, especially for those that played the original Guacamelee, Gold or Super Turbo Championship edition.

I remember getting into the first Guacamelee from watching a speedrun, so I picked up STC Edition in a sale and was not dissapointed. I was excited for the sequel when it finally came out, so I bought and downloaded this game day 1 of its full release. This was a great experience from start to finish.

The story is sorta... odd. The main plot of the game revolves around travelling into an alternate timeline to stop the Mexiverse (essentially the entire world in this game) from collapsing in on itself. I suppose a story like this was necessary anyways, since the orignal game ended with you defeating Calaca and rescuing the president's daughter (the good ending, of course). As such there's not really anything to build a whole game off of unless you put it in a whole new world.

Gameplay between this and the original Guacamelee is largely the same. All the old special moves return, albeit in a changed order altogether. At the start you're very barebones in your moveset, especially with throws. As you go through the game, you unlock a few skill "trees" that allow you to upgrade damage of special moves or some passive buffs like faster regeneration. Personally, I like using the dash punch in combat (learned very early as well) because it helps close the distance between enemies and is also great for knocking over a line of them.
There's only one new move for normal Juan, the Eagle Boost, which they definitely based some fast-paced puzzles around. I think it's a pretty solid movement skill, even if it's slightly cliche (hook on and boost past grapple points). Meanwhile, the chicken form has been fleshed out a ton. Major improvement over the original, where instead of a basic peck attack, chicken Juan has all the basic combat moves from basic punch/peck combos to the throwing moves. Included is also two new special moves just for the chicken, which actually warrants a reason to pull out the chicken form other than for squeezing in tight gaps. Even further than that, there's entire mini-dungeons littered through the game where you are forced to be a chicken (all of them grant you extra moves for the chicken).

The graphics are just as great as they were before. Even though the general setting of the game puts much darker color tones on everything, the game is still very detailed and each area is very different. The graphical differences between the living and dead worlds also makes them stand out. Music is still great too, with each track having two different styles to it to accompany each world. The game, especially in the major town, is littered with tons of references to the first Guacamelee, other games, or pop culture. The writing, even with the aftermentioned story, is still great. They managed to slip in some meta humor to some dialouges as well (like in at least one instance where Uay Chivo brings up the fact that this is a sequel game and we already beat Calaca in the last one).

There's also the return of 5 special tasks one needs to complete to achieve the good ending of the game. I actually found a couple of these to be very difficult and sometimes frustrating, but all of them feel different and merit their challenge. Collecting all 5 pieces actually unlocks a special dungeon that one needs to complete in order to get the good ending, and dear god is it a challenge.

I actually found late game to be somewhat challenging, especially some of the side rooms for collectibles required for 100%. There were a few fights in the final areas that I died numerous times on because of the difficulty of attacks you need to dodge or the execution required to beat each of them. Obviously this is to be expected, but I fear that those who are picking this game up for the first time will find these areas particularly frustrating.

All in all though, this game was a great challenging experience to play through, and I do suggest anyone that was a fan of the original game to pick this one up and give it a try. If you go in completely blind about where anything is, this game can take you a while (my first blind playthrough clocked at roughly 10-11 hours total.)

Imagine Worms, but with tanks instead.

This game is a bit tricky to master, but I've had a lot of fun with it so far. The aiming system is pretty good, definitely has consistency. Active playerbase, and the devs have been real good with pushing out content for the game so far.

This game has so many unique weapons its ridiculous. You pick up a random crate and get a weapon that you probably have no idea eveen existed, and your'e like "Whoa what's this?" until you fire it and get some pretty explosive results.

I did purchase this game with a discount, but I would probably go back and purchase for full price, cause this game is solid right now.

Even though the game has been slowly declining in recent months, it still doesn't stop me from returning to my favorite communities in Hat Simulator 2.

Yes, Meet your Match was a hellstorm after it got released, but the TF2 team has been (hopefully) working hard to get things bak on track and make the game playable again.

Town of Salem is a game based on "Werewolves". "Werewolves" is a party game, however this works a bit different.

The Werewolves team is replaced by the Mafia (although a Werewolf role still exists in game). The Mafia's goal is to eliminate the Town, while he Town tries to get rid of the Mafia. Typically, some people in Werewolves do not get a role at all, or get a role that ties them with another player but has no special significance to the non-werewolves. Town of Salem takes this a step futher by giving everyone a role, and everyone plays a part in the survival of the town, not just a select few. There are even some Townies (that's what we call people sided with the town) that are able to KILL at night, making them a more crucial role because they can eliminate key Mafia members.

The game mainly revolves around the gallows in the center of town. During the day, the players have a short period of time with which to discuss evidence and things they may have found out. Then, they put someone up on the stand and they have to testify. Occassionally, they are able to prove themselves innocent and get off, but more often then not, they are killed. This is one of the only ways Townspeople can get someone evil out, so be careful.

Even if you do die, don't leave! You are an integral part of the Medium's role, and can also speak with other dead players. This means you can speculate on the town's performance through the rest of the game, and cheer them on too.

Some people do not like to be Mafia or Town, and this is where the game is spiced up a bit, with the introduction of neutral roles. Some can kill (a Serial Killer or the before-mentioned Werewolf), some can try to decive the town (the Jester or Executioner), or some can choose their side (Amnesiac or Survivor).

Even if you don't want to chuck in the 5$, make sure to check out the game in your browser[blankmediagames.com], because the game can still be played for free there. However, I suggest you do pitch in the 5$ for the Steam client, because it's faster and without ads. Also, not only do you get 5$ worth of Town Points (1300 of the in-game currency), you also support the awesome developers that made this game. The game can get so intense that almost no two games are ever the same, providing a fresh experience everytime you join.

TL;DR version
-Modified game of the party game Werewolves
-Everyone gets a role
-Everyone is an integral part of it
-Get rid of the evil roles
-Get sides
-PITCH IN YOUR MONEY because it helps!
-A fresh experience each time

Get the game!

Its an okay game.

The jokes, when they make them, are witty.
The plot line is fun to follow.
The game is easy to understand.
Quite a few easter eggs to find, including some bonus games.
Open world concept is fun to explore.
Good for a quick laugh or two.

Theres one problem though.

Its short. I finished it in one sitting. (~1-2 hours)

But otherwise, if its on sale cheap (like the day im writing this), go for it. Otherwise, probably not worth 15 bucks.

Overall:
8/10

This game takes on a classic retro 8-bit style and turns the concept of gravity-flipping on its side. Along with being a casual but sometimes difficult puzzler, I had fun with this game.
