I was worried in the earlier alpha, the movement felt off. I'm happy to say skiing feels alot better now in early access. I feel like the game is missing something still. I didn't play Ascend, but the older games had a more chaotic, fun atmosphere with the admittedly bad weapons (bouncing discus shield and dagger) and variety of vehicles. This iteration takes itself too seriously, I especially miss the grapple gun antics.

The maps are a bit bland, need some more polish and a few floating platforms/ships couldn't hurt. I'd not recommend this game if it weren't $18.

The game functions on a grid system and the SUPER SCREENSHOT mode turns it into perfect DnD maps! Each tile of the game really lends itself to the 5ft rule that 5e DnD prefers, its a very convenient map-making tool that I use to kill time and also utilize to prepare for the next session with a thriving map of a generic metropolis full of various races.

This game is like work....

..if work was automated to perfection. Factorio is a grinding game, which is exactly how Factorio creates a tranquil environment like no other, perfect for mindless, stressless creation. This is automation at work, production at its finest, and your own perfectionism will bring you back. It was worth the money for me, but I will admit the game is an aquired taste.

I can't compare this game to anything like minecraft or terraria or even WoW, it is just different. You work to be lazy, building massive messes and then moving forward to more complex messes. The enemies come in larger swarms and different types according to the large blot of red on the map that is your polluting smog, drawing in further and further camps to aggro you.
