TL;DR: It's like Anthem, but worse. And it's backed with NFTs.

Saw the game in my recommended queue, thought it looked cool, then I added it to my wishlist for whenever it came out. Then I got a notification that it's out, and tried to play it. For the life of me, I could not get the game to work, constant connection errors prevented me from loading in. After a couple more failed connection errors, I make it to the player hub. And I get a strong sense of deja vu. I get to the tutorial guy, who's dialogue is half-TTS-half real voice actor, and choose my mech, or 'Starfighter'. Then I played around with the mech, and realized why I was getting deja vu. It's literally Anthem.

I got kicked to the main menu again, due to the aforementioned "connection issues" and decide to do a google search on their game to see if I could find a support page/twitter to talk to some devs about these issues. And here I come to find that it's a game that promotes/uses NFTs, albeit they don't promote it in their game, but they're planning on the implementation of it. That was an instant red flag for me. I checked out the store tab, and when the little dialog prompt says you can buy 'Starlings' to purchase in-game components to upgrade your Starfighter/Ship/Mecha thing, I already knew they were gonna go the P2W route. I understand that this is "Early Access", and that they have to monetize the game somehow since they're planning on it being free to download now and after Early Access, but anybody with some common sense knows that is a bad omen for players in the future, especially with the fact that you can buy their in-game money RIGHT NOW on EARLY ACCESS launch day.

Up to you if you wanna support this game, I don't see it going anywhere. "Early Access" and they expect it to be out of it within a year? Nah, I don't believe it. This is gonna be the next Anthem, I can already see it.

Play on controller, and download zmod for 120fps & 4k resolution or ultrawide support without stretched res. That's all I have to say.

no man's skyrim

It's amazing. If you wanted a game that you could sink hours into with no end of grind in sight, and is immensely enjoyable and somehow therapeutic, then No Man's Sky is definitely it. I play solo, but of course multiplayer is possible. However, playing in parties is pretty buggy, as quests don't track or complete properly, leading to slight soft-locks in quest progress, so strangely enough, I wouldn't recommend playing in a group.

Configurable difficulty is very nice, I can play the game the way I want to, and for first time players I'd recommend Relaxed Mode as it is very beginner friendly. No paid DLCs, no paid cosmetics, no paid anything besides the game itself, everything is obtained through grinding, and I love it. It gives true value to each ship, each traveller that I've seen, being able to look at them and almost instantly identify how long they've played the game just gives so much personality to everything.

All in all, it's a great game to grind and relax on. I'd love a big multiplayer patch, as it would make playing with a group much more enjoyable. Maybe multitool color customization, or starship color customization, that would also be really nice. But definitely a multiplayer patch. 4/5.

As someone who's spent hours as a kid at the Pizzatron 3000 on Club Penguin, I can safely say that this is definitely a great pizza making game.

Great voxel neo-noir detective exploration game. It's very fun, when the game works properly. As of release, when this review was made, the game has crashed on me more times than I'd like. I understand it's early access, but that doesn't excuse it from being exempt from criticisms of what should've been polished before even releasing to the public.

I'll leave it a thumbs up regardless, because aside from the bugs, its a genuinely fun game, and you actually have to use your brain to play. The detective work is actually engaging, and the random generation adds so much replayability. I've had fun with the preset quest and city that they set you up with, and I have yet to finish it due to the repeated crashes, but so far Shadows of Doubt hold up as a solid detective sim.

TLDR: It's boring.

It's... not fun. Obviously people love this game, and I can understand why, but it's just not for me. I can only withstand so much black loading screens while clearing out a building that has either no loot, mediocre loot, or food items that I consume basically at a loss because of how long it could take to clear out a single building. I've never played the Flash game, so I didn't really have any expectations to look for here from the first game.

So what I was expecting was more of a DayZ-esque open world, fully rendered map type game with sprinkles of MMORPG flavoring. This isn't as fun as I thought it was going to be, because looting is very boring and practically unprofitable. It's meaningless. I thought it'd be fun if I got other people to play with me, but an hour into playing with others and it was just as boring.

And the quests. They're boring. It's the same repeat quests, go here, kill those, come back and I'll give you some money. Which would be fine if there was a few unique quest-lines to follow for a bit of narrative and world-building lore, but there's none of that.

It's a fun game, but it freezes a lot. Probably a memory leak issue or something, because this game sucks up so much of my PC resources. In my entire 5 hours playing this game, I've crashed at least twice per hour, and it gets quite annoying when you can't even save game on demand. Or, you know, just have a functioning game in the first place, that'd be pretty nice, but I guess it's a bit too much to ask from game devs nowadays.

Just get Stalker Anomaly, it's free and way better than this.
