I mean it's a fun game, although it has been abandoned by the developer resulting in many design flaws and a few bugs. - Playing with a controller is great unless you're trying to place landfill or when trying to aim with either bows or wands. Therefore if you manage to reach the late game, you should swap to keyboard&mouse.

Looks like they've fixed the game. The server browser's back, the menu UI looks decent, the control over the lobby (kicking, restarting) has returned to the lobby host and tons of other stuff they've added in past updates, including offline mode and regenerative armor

Not to mention they've revamped the level system (that required you to do tedious stuff in order to level up, as in forcing you to play guns you don't enjoy, place something 100 times, do 1000 kills with x gun etc)

Ratchet and Clank is a game franchise i've been fanboying ever since I owned a PS2 but never really talked about it since it always felt "niche" to me. When I heard about the newest part of the franchise releasing on Steam I knew I have to play this - considering most (but not all) PS4/5 ports on PC play fairly well (sorry TLoU fans!)
I played this game as soon as I was able to unlock the preload, and I was shocked at how the franchise has remained the same since the PS2 era, but has managed to adapt it to today's standards.

This is probably the first time you can play with keyboard and mouse and I must say it feels fantastic. It is certainly more precise than using a controller (the sniper rifle sure is OP when you actually manage to hit stuff for the first time).

On my hardware (Ryzen 7 5700G, RTX 3060ti, 32GB RAM) it ran okay. I ran medium settings @ 1080p upscaling to 1440p without raytracing and I hit about 100 FPS outside of combat and it dropped down to about 30 FPS in heavy fights. The key selling point of the game where you are able to travel between worlds using rifts sure made my game stutter at points. Luckily most of those travels happen outside of fights so you got plenty of time to "recover" from those frame drops.

But oh boy the game does crash a lot. The game does automatically save whenever possible so it wasn't really painful. I was not able to fix this issue using guides on the cool internet. I tried to disable directstorage (didnt even increase loading times?), turned Nvidia Reflex off and tried to play around with the graphic settings but none of these "fixes" worked. Not sure if it's the game fault or my machine. Just thought I'd include this.

As a person who has an attention span of the average tiktok user, I am glad to tell you that this was my first single player game in years where I was able to play through the entire game in just one week (5 days to be exact) - and all of this without a second monitor playing netflix, subway surfers or whatever Gen Z prefers these days.

Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to complete the game for another 16 times on NG+ just like I did with Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando.
