are you sick of AAA studios pushing the same repackaged ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ every year? reminiscing about the days where singleplayer fps campaigns had cool stories, worldbuilding, lore, and genuine love put into it? finding yourself driven to increasingly niche corners of the shooter market, because despite being jagged on the edges and flawed, at least these games aren't some corpo droneteam's idea of what the largest audience are gonna like?

GAMEPLAY
like an unpolished gemstone. rough and full of dirt but shi huge lowkey
i just play it like i play doom. my "literally him" simulator
the weapon sound design is insanely good, and this is coming from a decent-ish tarkov dude (1k hr) i love it when it feels like im firing a FIREARM

STORY/LORE
people say this game is a spiritual successor to FEAR but iunno to me i think of it as a crossover of scp/stalker/doom. probably because it's more of my genre so i'm more well acquainted
unlike stalker/doom you can really just get by in this game blasting and having fun without paying much attention to the lore or story, but i really, really recommend you do, because as above, this is where you can see the real love and care put into the game.
the last time a game world managed to capture my interest to this extent was maybe cyberpunk
if you love the "cosmic horrors have arrived but i got the blick on me" genre then yeah, like i said welcome home.

Simple idea, amazing execution. Really satisfying to play. Reasonable price and doesn't require a monster of a PC to play.

I have not played a shooter like this in a long time. I picked up this game, expecting something like Insurgency or Arma. Boy, was I wrong. Sure, movement/cover system is broken, and Multiplayer is ♥♥♥♥, but usually in shooters it's just "terrorists are the bad guys, shoot them." In this game, the Americans are the "bad guys", if that term can even be used, as in the end, it's quite questionable as to who the actual bad guy is. This game also makes you question the enjoyment and violence in video games, as it also shows the darker side. This game can be quite disturbing, so I would advise against it for anyone who can't handle seeing burnt/rotting corpses.

Now that I've finished the game, I'm going to bleach my eyeballs and question my exisitence.
