Overall a solid experience, albeit with some bugs. There's a good game here, but you have to be willing to put up with some janky bits around the edges in order to find it.

As an RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 falls short. As an action/adventure game, it fares better -- you'll still cringe at some juvenile dialog, and it's obviously a game meant to appeal to a certain demographic, but there are some interesting moments within that are worth the price of admission. It's mechanically fine, but nothing here stands out -- mediocre gunplay, boring tech trees, and a veneer of a melee system are functional without ever really becoming fun. However, the main story missions are interesting enough to keep you hooked, and the pace is quick enough to keep you playing through "one more mission" well into the wee hours.

Performance is a dog. On an i7-7700k, with a 1080ti, I can barely keep a steady framerate at 1080p, let alone at 1440p. Hopefully, with patches and time (and eventually, stronger hardware), this will be less of an issue.

Significantly more interesting than at launch, Stellaris has become a deep Paradox-to-the-core 4x game, with a blend of systems that work well together. Combat, ship design, research, plot, and expansion events are well handled, and the game is as fascinating as it is complex. Well worth a purchase if you enjoy this style of strategy game, similar to Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis.

This is a fantastic if difficult game; echoes of Darklands, one of my personal favorites from the early 1990s. As with many games from that age, enjoying KC:D is about the small moments as much as it is about the grand sweep of the plot; conversations are allowed to unfold in their own time, and the scope of the early game is small and intimate.

A worthy experience.
