I do recommend this game, but with a strong caveat that this thing is very obviously unfinished.
The missing features include:
- leaning
- proper medical health system [may be optional idk]
- AI being smart
- crouching, prone, stance management
- more maps
- npc loot

As it stands the game is really fun anyway, but it would be elevated if it had these things in it. Scratches the itch of Tarkov partially, albeit a greater variety of maps would be nice too.

This game is really frustrating for all the worst reasons. I can get clunky controls but not when it impedes fun. I can get realism, but what the hell is realistic about the ore I mine flying out of my ship? Has no one who mines the rings of Saturn heard of a one-way trap-door setup so your entire haul doesn't go flying out at the slightest movement? I really wanted to like this game but the ore flying out of my ship is too much- it's not fun in any way.

Maybe it's for you but I didn't like it.

Shadow of A Doubt is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best indie games out there right now. But it's... It's ROUGH. I legitimately wasn't certain whether to give a negative or positive review because of just how frustrating some of the mechanics can be.

Let's talk about gameplay. Once you get about 5 hours into Shadow of A Doubt, you've probably seen most of the game's content and understood the fundamentals. While the games vibes carry it, its numerous bugs, braindead AI, overly unfriendly AI conversations, and more make the game an incredibly frustrating experience. There are gamebreaking bugs you can encounter merely by opening the case tab and fiddling around, and further gamebreaking bugs which can make it impossible to solve a case.

Additionally, there's the problem in the game that makes things incredibly unfair: while AI can use guns, you cannot. You'll be walking along, minding your own business, and then suddenly you step into a 'private area' and the AI, like the psychotic individuals they are, will take out guns and mow you down for no reason.

That's another thing- AI overreact to things that they really shouldn't, given their attitudes. AI will attack you on the street for lockpicking open CCTV boxes, which makes no sense. Why do they care? They shouldn't care about something that's city property, or corporate property of Starch Kola or whatever.

Oh, and even though you're a detective, the law is not on your side. You don't have any protections under the law from stuff [which, again, confuses the hell out of me, as even private investigators get some legal leeway, and so do bounty hunters, which you're honestly quite similar to in terms of job in this game].

My suggestion would be making it so you can talk to enforcers on the scene of a crime and gain a guest pass for that crime scene, which would fix one of the braindead AI issues at least partially, that being that the enforcers can literally watch you enter a crime scene and will do nothing about it. I'd understand it if the cops were mad at you for entering the scene of a crime without being a detective, but you are literally employed by city hall. It makes no sense.

This being said, this game is early access. Unless the devs start updating the game and patching some of these bugs, I can't say that I recommend this. In its current state, it is very unfinished.

But, for now, I will say that this game /is/ fun until you start experiencing these really unfortunate bugs and flaws with it. I'm all for games without handholding, but there are just logical and technical aspects of this game that make literally no sense. Devs plz fix

friend gave me this game, i was asked to finish it and never did because i'm evil and bad

in any case i can't recommend it enough- it's a really good game but it admittedly didn't grip me- mainly because of just how expansive it feels. just exploring around in the first area[s] can take hours, and the background art and the variety of things to see and do is just a little overwhelming. while I never actually finished the game, i can say that i did enjoy what i played. the 2.5D pixel art is GORGEOUS.

i rate this game at minimum an 8/10. i will update this review if i ever get a new controller that works and go about finishing the game.
