One of the best multiplayer Source mods of the 2010s, and a virtually perfect blueprint for all the throwback third-person shooters in this style to come. Feels nice, sounds good, runs well!

But, admittedly, now that we're approaching ten years since its release on Steam – the active player base has become quite small. By that, I mean that there's usually >10 people playing at any given time (you can check Steam Charts to verify this). So: unless you're willing to join the Discord, and perhaps get in on the occasional sessions people organize through there... your chances of finding a server with more than just a couple of other actual players in it are unfortunately pretty slim.

All that said: DA:B is still incredibly fun; especially when you have more than just bots to play against. Hopefully, it'll either see some sort of surprise community revival as its big anniversary gets closer, or a true successor will finally emerge (before the decade's out, ideally).

Early Access Review
One level in (ignore my playtime - I left the game on overnight), and I already know that this is one of New Blood's best. I urge everyone who's even remotely interested in immersive sims to pick this up ASAP

Short 'n' sweet FPS, that's an easy recommend for me whenever it's on sale for between $2-4 or so. One of those indie games that you can immediately tell is a developer's true passion project, made without broad appeal or profitability in mind.

Plenty of other reviews have described the game's appeal beyond that, so I'll make this short and recommend that you give them a look. And, ngl - I like almost every game I play. So if you've got more specific tastes, or a certain expectations you want games to consider them worthy of your money, I'd definitely recommend checking the rest of these reviews out

Ignore the amount of playtime I have, btw - I paused the game to go get a drink during my second play session, and ended up taking a phone call and going to bed lol. Anyways: this game actually took me about an hour and a half to finish 100%, after taking my time to really explore every crevice of the world, and appreciate everything it has to offer. That was across a few short play sessions, over the course of about a month - so, repeatedly re-familiarizing myself with it defo took a little bit of time as well.

Even though I've only really had the chance to play it online once so far, that experience really was an unforgettable blast. Absolutely nails the "goofy, manic, crossover-heavy arena shooter-party game" vibe, in a way that a surprising number of actual paid releases haven't come even remotely close to

Gave this a first playthrough tonight with a friend - was pleasantly surprised by how engaging we found it! Also, despite being an Unreal 5 game, the vibes were reminiscent of GMod puzzle maps. I mean that in a very positive way - it filled my heart with joy to see such crispy texture work. Very good show!

Finished a very casual session in just less than an hour with a friend, and we both found ourselves quite charmed by it. We love these We Were Here-type co-op puzzles, and this one just absolutely nailed it on every level for us. We're both pretty excited to see how the full game turns out, now - great work, devs!

Psychopomp’s soundtrack, also known as “Songs to Explore the Catacombs Hidden Under Every Public Government Building Volume 1”, is almost undoubtedly gonna remain one of my top five game soundtracks of the year. It really does match the vibes of every other aspect of the game pretty much perfectly - a beautifully murky, quirky, and ever-spiraling sonic fever dream that could only have been produced with a crystal clear creative vision

A very cute short game, of the kind I generally tend to like. But, I will admit - some of the post-processing effects were making me feel a little woozy after a while. Otherwise, it was a cute 'n' amusing lil world to wander through

So while idk if the dev is ever planning on coming back to his older titles, maybe once he's done with Choo Choo Charles' console ports 'n' such, he could put out some updates for his older games, or a perhaps a remastered collection of them or somethin'. Just spitballing, really - this didn't give me much of anything to really complain about, so I figure I might as well throw out a suggestion or two lol
