Refreshing, honestly. Every couple of years I'll play a critter capturer and it was about that time when I saw this getting promoted for its 1.0 release. So far I've had a blast with it. It might have even satisfied my itch enough that I won't be buying the new Pokemon games but we'll see about that :p

Honestly a little "tough" as far as these kind of games go. Its straightforward enough but learning the typing is huge because of the energy system... wasting energy on bad moves just in casual encounters really hurts you in the long run. It does definitely fit an MMO in that sense... The game does everything in its power to slow you down and take your time with things. For better or for worse. I personally don't mind it, I've evolved dozens of Tems before leaving an area and moving onto the next, while others I could see getting very frustrated with the pacing of the game.

Kragg has the most dialogue in this game.

Let that sink in.

Cute and charming, about 10~ hours of gameplay to an average player. Less if you're experienced in "adventure" games. Even less if you don't 100% it (its really worth it). Most players won't explore every nook of this small game, but every inch of it is full of heart and care, which is what pushed me to come back and 100% it despite quite nearly clearing the game in one night.

Can't recommend it enough, but the visual style and lack of what many might consider "gameplay" would be the only deterrents to most players. To those people, I urge you to just buy it when its on sale, its worth the playthrough, but to most, not for the price. That's not what I believe, nor the reason I purchased it when I did, just in an attempt to get more people to play and complete this game.

A love letter to the critter capturer genre that many of us grew up playing, that still introduces unique elements so its not just a nostalgia haze.

My only gripe with this game is that as a veteran player of games, and particularly this type, I was hoping to find a less.... Hand-holdy experience. It is still fun, and the game softens its grip on you eventually, but it could've left you to the wolves out of the gate and I could've fully immersed myself in learning all the games mechanics for myself, in the ways older games did in previous games. Such as trial and error, and finding the correct NPC or something to talk with that gives you hints. In this game, the tension and buildup of scenes is literally halted as you get a phone call from the game creator telling you where to go just in case you forgot. Its too much, but forgivable for everything else that is in this game.

This is then, a great introductory game to the genre, as well as an amazing kids' game. It is totally clean, and wholesome to boot.

Can't recommend this more. A good casual experience packed with heart and stuffed with end game challenges and post game collectables alike.

A group of my friends regularly replay this game from scratch, and its still a great experience each time. Can't recommend this enough if you're looking for a flexible casual or more hardcore experience akin to Minecraft.

Easy to pickup and learn, making it a great party game. I play this with non gaming friends at parties and they can play it and have fun easily!
