I went into this game with the assumption that it would be a clone of every other farming game. I'm glad I was wrong. It's quite evident that the developer put a lot of love into this game.

Buy Stardew now, you won't regret it.

Being a fan of post-apocalyptic games, I purchased I Am Alive on sale. I would start by suggesting that you only purchase this game on sale, as I managed to beat the game in around 5 hours. The atmosphere and set up are actually quite good, but the game feels quite rushed near the end, and leaves the player unsatisfied (at least in my opinion).

The gameplay can be quite tense at times, mostly due to the stamina bar draining during climbing and when roaming the lower streets of downtown Haventon. Climbing can be frustrating at times but these moments were few and far between for me.

Combat was quite unique, and the lack of ammunition made these moments very tense. Enemies could also be very unpredictable, and you have to act fast when you threaten them with an empty weapon as they might call your bluff. I enjoyed combat quite a bit.

Inventory management was actually quite good, I always had to think twice about helping survivors I came across due to resources being rare, particularly on the hardest difficulty. Helping survivors is worth the trouble though, as you are rewarded with backstory that fills in the blanks on what happened in Haventon during the early days of "The Event". Sometimes, you will also be rewarded with useful items.

In conclusion, while I liked the premise and gameplay of I Am Alive, the ending chapters of the game are quite rushed and leads to the plot falling on its face. Only buy it on sale.

I give the game a 7/10.

I played this game way back when it came out on ps3. It was one of the first games that I had thoroughly enjoyed, and the 2k sale was the perfect incentive to play it again.

Stop reading this and go buy the bundle. you will not regret it!
