As a long time 40k fan I can say that the story of this game is exactly what I wanted from an Ork-based shooter. Your boss stole your hair, so you gotta murder everything until you get it back.

The gameplay though is atrocious.

Firstly having more dakka is not enough, you have to manage constantly switching weapons to deal with specific enemies (which is inherently anti-ork). You'll want to ensure you've practised quick switching from explosive, to projectile, to energy weapons as you'll need to do it a lot.

Secondly the platforming is extremely slow. You're not incentivised to move quickly and rip and tear like you would expect, instead you have to advance, wait for set pieces, hunt for teef (which is infuriating as it's the only way to get unlocks because apparently killing a baneblade isn't valuable somehow), and then slowly but surely move through a level. This is made so much worse by the multiplayer input lag. You're expected to react to timing windows which are always out of sync if you're not the host.

Thirdly there's no real melee options. We're Orks! All the artwork in the game shows choppas, but your piddly little melee weapons barely tickle enemies. Where's the melee classes?! If they come later in the game I'll be disappointed as they should be in from the get go given by default most Orks use their sluggas to get close enough to krump.

Lastly the class and clan system is pointless. The variety between each class is so minimal as to not really be relevant to the average gamer, and selecting a clan offers no real bonus other than looking different which is incredibly disappointing.

As a final note: the best way I can describe this game is that it feels like a generic, poorly-designed, lacklustre shooter platformer that was bought out and had 40k material taped onto it.

I don't know what I just played, it was nuts, everyone was yelling at me, I was scared, but I think I had fun?
