Meowrvelous little game

PRO:
- If you like cats, you will love it

CON:
- If you don't like cats, you might not like it

It's a lovely short hidden object game, with beautiful art, relaxing music, and cute characters that deserve lots of pets.
It's perfect for these days when you don't feel like investing too much energy in other games and you just wanna sit back and lose some time.
On few occasions i felt like slapping the screen or pushing the mouse off the desk, but it was a cool little game overall.
For what it's supposed to be, it's perfect!

This review was totally not made by a cat

Stupidly fun and entertaining

I remember when this came out, people that had no idea about parody laws kept spamming the forums that this game will be removed and the devs sued and whatever.
These comments aged fine like milk kept under the sun for two weeks.

Anyhow, if you can get this on a sale you will have some fun, but also you will have your patience and nerves tested.

What i loved most about it, the references, i am a sucker for parodies, references, easter eggs.

Lady Gaga, Chuck Norris, Storm Troopers, even Gabe Newell appear in this game, obviously, under different names, that's how parodies work.

The game is a pretty good shoot em up, lots of power ups and ultimates.
It tends to get very hard at some point, but it has its charm and can be pretty addictive.

PRO:

- Lots of people and characters parodied
- Humor
- A great selection of diverse power-ups and ultimates

CON:

- I would say it gets waaay too hard, i played it quite a lot, and i could never get that far
- Achievements are still broken (for some, they work now, but not for me)
- No Steam Cloud (i almost collected all the cards back in 2016 when i was playing this, minus two or so)

It's a great buy on sale, you will have a good amount of fun.

This game i came across is great, that i can tell you surely, mate. It leaves a warm touch on your soul, after few hours that you'll pour.

My weird habit combined with my lack of energy make me impulsively buy stuff without checking much stuff about them. Also, i like to be surprised.

I had no idea about what this game was about, just looked at few screenshots and bought myself a key for it.

As i was half an hour into the game, a thought struck me, there was this strange coincidence, this game is about you fixing the brain of someone ill, and that just hit me right in the heart.
I could totally relate to the game as someone going through some health issues, brain/neurological-related, so everything in the game made a weird sense to me, and brought me some sort of deeper understanding of it.

It's a very deep game, with tons of treats for deep people, but even if you're not that deep, you will still have a good time doing some puzzles and exploring a rather uncanny and odd world.

For me personally, it was somewhat sad and maybe slightly emotional overall because of my issues and the way i related to the game, but the game itself is wholesome, there's also some humour and puns included, and there's not much sadness overall.

The game is really beautifully crafted, and i truly recommend it, it's an unique experience that you will never forget.

UI is hideous, gameplay is fun, problem is, the enemies are severely overpowered, the game overall is unbalanced, even if you have all the upgrades (grinded first levels like crazy, thinking it will do a difference).

Needs a lot more polishing.

If there wasn't such a sloppy job done on the balance, i would've recommended it.

Still fun, still innocent, and still a joy to play

Look, the UI might not be the best looking, and the graphics certainly are outdated, but the game is really fun to play and that's what matters the most.
Mechanics/action is very simple, just throw snowballs at the other penguins until you knock them off the platform into the water.
There are also few power ups you can pick. There's nothing complicated about this game, just pure arcade-ish battle royale (more or less).
The game features so much child-like innocence, you will not even get mad when you get thrown into the water.
It's a game that will transport you back in time, to much simpler times. A good nostalgia-inducing game, that is still playable nowadays (Works on Windows 11 - Wide-screen with no issues or anything).

Online is kind of dead though, but you can play vs bots or even via LAN, or just host a game and play with friends..

Cute and innocent game!

A bit mediocre. But you can get few hours of time out of it

I loved the first Bomberman game, then i loved Atomic Bomberman especially via LAN. I would still play them today but, even giving the nostalgia, i would also like a breathe of fresh air.
It would've been nice if there was a remaster of the original one (just do it with vectorial graphics and i would be happy), but there isn't.

Anyhow, back to BomberZone. I am kinda neutral about it.
On one hand, the game was made by a small team (or even a single dev?), and i am trying to be supportive because everyone starts somewhere, and honestly, the reason i love Steam is because everyone can have their chance at doing something. No game is perfect, each one of them has quirks.

My main disappointments would be:
- Collisions aren't very good. I am talking about collision of your character with the rocks, but also about the explosion that should kill your enemies. If you look closely sometimes they are hit by quite an interesting part of the explosion, yet, they aren't affected.
- There aren't enough power-ups being spawned
- When using infinite bombs, you will eentually die because you spawn bombs faster than you move
- Game is not properly optimized for a controller. It just has partial support, meaning you can start the game and play it, but the shop menu for example cannot be used with a controller. And playing with a controller also sucks because of thhe movement system.

I wouldn't say this game is bad, but i would advise you to keep your expectations in check before buying it. It certainly could use a bit of polish, and honestly, the issues i mentioned aren't even hard to fix, but i hardly doubt we'll see an update (last update on this game was made 2326 days ago as the date i am posting this review).
Music is cool. Visually the game looks pretty, but the gameplay isn't very captivating or smooth.

There isn't any multiplayer or even local co-op, just playing with some very... odd bots.

And there isn't any sort of point in playing it. You're fan of arcade style games where the only thing you do is trying to beat your high score? Well, here there is some sort of ranking system that with every level it multiplies your score, so you basically are a cat chasing around its tail.

It's certainly interesting playing a "3d" Bomberman that is procedually generated, i have to give the devs credidt for that. I initially thought it was stupid but it's kinda cool.
While i hope the game will be brought from the dead with a fresh update, i think there are better chances at emulating Crysis on an original NES.

If you can get it on a big sale or in a bundle, you will have few hours of fun and you should absolutely try it, because, who knows? Maybe i am a bit picky.

Early-mid 2000s called, they send their congratulations and hugs

This review will probably be longer than required, that's why, in short i will list some good and bad aspects of this game.

Great:
- Beautiful game art
- Room to build a powerful strategy
- You can always reset your upgrades for free so you can put the "emeralds" into other towers
- Level select, you can always go back to levels you previously played, either to grind emeralds for upgrades, either to get all 3 stars
- If you go to a level you previously beat you have the current upgrades applied so it's easy to do levels perfectly after you grow up a bit
- If you used to play TDs in Warcraft 3 "back in the days" you will absolutely love this
- I don't (and most of the people) say this too often, but the RNG is pretty damn good (the game doesn't rely on it much, just the amount of gold coins you pick up). It's right in the middle of good and bad.
- You can really get 20-30h of fun at least at such a low cost (and honestly, i saw people with hundreds of hours into it)

Not so great:
- I wish there were keyboard keys for building towers, pausing and fast-forwarding
- The silver coins you mine have to be collected manually and sometimes the mines can be out of the field of view/or you forget because you're in a tense battle
- If you're an absolute beginner to this genre, this game might not be very friendly, and it could even be confusing
- Difficulty jump between new levels you unlock is pretty high. I played a big part of the game on medium with no problem, then suddenly i couldn't finish a level even on Easy
- Few small glitches, nothing too major, but then again, there's no perfect game
- Maybe the aura towers (energy towers) should've had a slightly bigger range because the game is grid-based and sometimes it's hard to position things properly

Boring, long and sentimental review

*Flashback to a room full of cigarette smoke, Voodoo People by Prodigy playing on repeat, 3 empty coffee mugs on the desk and me playing TDs in WC3 at 4am*

God knows how many thousands of hours i spent in WC3 so many years ago, on LAN, but also Garena, Hamachi and all kinds of private networks, playing mostly TD Maps, but they were fun and more simple times.
I would say this game would appeal more to the people that used to fry their brains out in WC3 TDs, but that doesn't mean new players wouldn't like it. They might just find it a bit weirder and uninvinting.
Lately i am very nostalgic in regards to pretty much everything but this isn't the reason i started playing this, had it on my wishlist since i discovered it on Steam, and i think it's a good TD game, i absolutely loved it.
If you're an old timer like me, i would say this game mostly relates to Green TD, with a really small pinch of Starcraft on top.

You got two enemy races (RAAAACE WAAAAR), that contain a variety of different kinds of bastards to slaughter.
There are 3 basic attack towers, one that is more efficient against one of these two classes, plus a cryogenic tower that is really powerful, and works good against both, and it's really one of the most towers in the game altogether (make sure you fully upgrade it in the menu).

Lately as you do the menu upgrades for other two types of basic towers you will unlock some different variations of them. When you progress deeper into the game you should always keep in mind that diversity is the key, because each tower has different abilities that come in handy even when your current wave is with enemies from the other class mostly affected by it.

You also have mines that get you silver coins (to build towers, duuuuh), which is the pinch of Starcraft i mentioned.

Mechanics of the game are simple, they are easy to pick up even for newbies, yet, the strategy and the manner you will do things in will require some thinking and planning on your behalf.

Obviously, the game can be painfully unfair at times, but it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy, right?

I am impressed with the art in this game, levels are so beautiful, and the artists really are talented.

Another aspect i was not very fond of was the game being grid-based, and that thing (not just in this game) tends to just make things worse.

I encountered some small bugs, but nothing out of the ordinary, the game, most of the time was smooth and polished.

I really loved this game, and i recommend playing it. Just keep in mind, if you're new to this genre, or this particular style of TDs, you might adjust a bit slower.
I am looking forward to a sequel, or another similar game made by the same small (and talented) team

Congratulations to the devs. Very cool game, brings back memories because it was made by people that were just my kind of crowd so many years ago. And, I must say, i keep wondering if i ever crossed paths with these people in one of these endless TD nightly marathons. World is small. And the game hits exactly in that spot.

Also, noticed a pattern, great games are often low-cost. It happens so often, that i spend 1-2$ for a game and get dozens of hours of fun out of it, and then spend a lot more only to enjoy a game for 4-5 hours. I guess the difference is when the developers build a game with their heart, instead of their wallet

This game was/is so close to being absolutely great, but the devs' faulty logic would hate that

In short:
PRO:
- Plays great with a controller (there's currently a bug in the menu, you can't press down without pressing up first)
- Great music and you even have a dance feature in the bar
- Many rooms, and even secret levels that look pretty cool
- Lots of guns, power-ups and pets
- Pretty easy to learn and get decent at

CON:
- Using certain game mechanics will disable your achievements
- RNG is absolutely awful, from 10 runs, you're lucky if you get 4 decent ones
- Some level design is just bad and you cannot reach certain areas, and you also don't get power-ups that will help you get to them in those particular runs.
- Devs try to enforce people to have fun a certain way that doesn't appeal to many
- There are no accessibility issues for people with various impairments, except for an aim assist that i don't think it works in the first place

Long detailed review:

First, i am not a good roguelike player, hell, i had to ask my good friend to give me a breakdown of this genre because there are many confusing aspects to it, and it's more confusing because many indie titles just throw that term around everywhere.
I figured i would jump in this, because i loved how the game looked, and i liked the presentation overall.

Second, i really love the gameplay, there are lots of weapons, power-ups and pets that give you a hand in various ways, the levels are beautifully crafted (visually), effects are cool, music is very delightful.

And yet, i am not really having fun, and you might ask yourself why.

1. I know people complain about RNG in many games, but i think, in this case, it's very different. It seems like the devs generally (not just with the RNG) went an extra mile just to prevent you, the player/customer to have fun.
2. You get some eggs that you can hatch, but you can end up getting pets that actually harm you.

As you progress through the game, instead of unlocking more interesting stuff, you unlock... a transmog system? And a "cheat code" system that actually punishes you if you use it.

Most of my complaints are tied to the achievement system (Which some of you don't care about, and probably are repeating in your heads, "hurr durr achievements are pointless", but tough luck, some people like this system for different reasons, and it contributes to your overall experience with each indiviual game).

1. You finally hit the jackpot and manage to have some good RNG after dying 6 times in a row? Would you like to play with that RNG again? Great, you can, but the achievements are disabled.
2. You'd like to replace some of the monsters? You can, but if you do it too much, achievements will be disabled?
3. You just unlocked the "cheat code" system, which are not even cheat codes, you first have to find cheats (they cost some neon coins you get, and you buy them from a vending machine that either gives you some wiki-like items, either cheat codes, it's random), they cost crystals that you open the doors, and really aren't doing anything too crazy, plus they have a limit on how many you can use. You want to use them? Fine! But guess what... You're bloody right! For using our mechanic we worked so hard, we'll blap you in the face.

For some reason, the devs thought it's a good idea to force people to have fun the developers' way, without even considering that people might want to play their own way, and this is not a multiplayer game, it doesn't even have local co-op or anything. Plus achievements really don't grant people anything, besides a nice pleasant dopamine hit in the brain that lasts few minutes.

Some achievements are probably literally impossible to obtain, and whoever says otherwise, i will just assume they used an achievement unlocker (For example, there's an achievement that requires you to complete a run (whole game), without ever getting damaged. In a bullet hell game...
Hotline Miami is easier in this regard. Hell, Quake 1 on Nightmare difficulty is easier than what these achievements are requiring from players.

Achievements mean different things for different people, and they don't have any sort of value, why are they even giving so much ♥♥♥♥ about them in the first place? Let alone punish you if you use the actual game's mechanics.

Okay, apart from the achievements what else is wrong with the game?

Lack of any accessibility options. There's only an aim assist option that isn't doing almost anything (I can't see any difference if i toggle it on or off). In my case i need to work 4 times harder due to some neurological issues i have.
Sometimes rooms and chest spawn in places you cannot get to unless you have wings power-ups (in 20 hours of playtime i only got them twice), there are also other power-ups that help, but yea, it's not really a good mechanic.
You cannot progress unless RNG. I've defeated the previous unlocked boss for about 5 times already, unlocked the next one, but guess what, RNG didn't give me the option to fight the next one, so i am basically doing the same thing over and over hoping i will get the chance to fight the next boss.

Bottom line, devs tend to have an annoying sadistic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ personality. I don't want the game to be easier, i want it to be more fair, there needs to be more balance, and the game should appeal to multiple groups of people, and people should be able to have fun their own way, the way they see fit.
Game overall is good and you most likely will have fun in it, but that fun is strongly limited by the developers' faulty logic and lack of consideration.

These issues for me, personally, and to many others are bumming, and remove the pleasure of actually playing the game.
I would've seen myself play this for 300-400 hours easily if it wasn't for these issues, but i am about 20 hours in, and i doubt i will make past 30.

If you don't care about accessibility options and are a healthy fella, if you don't care about the achievements, and if you generally are a tough try-hard with a humilation fetish, you will really love this.
If not, you will still have fun, because the game is awesome overall, but you might not get your money worth entirely.

This game is a palm's length away from being really great, but i am really skeptical devs will come out and say "Hey, we improved the RNG system a bit, you no longer will be screwed by your own pets, and hey, we decided you should have fun your own way, just enjoy yourself and don't worry about anything else".

Kathy Rain - A detective with a rebellious but warm heart and a big brain

I will start this by mentioning, i really am not into point-and-click games. and the last 6-7 years, not into puzzles anymore, however, i am trying to learn to love new game genres.
Because of that, my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt (or, drop of water, if you will).

Since i am not used to Point-and-Click games, i did find some parts of the game boring (i felt like some dialogues were longer than necessary for example), and the animation/movement weren't so quick and smooth as i would've liked.

I did get stuck few times, and i am not ashamed to admit but i had to use a walkthrough, i suppose if you're a connoisseur of this type of games, you won't have the same issue, as the stuff you have to do in the game does make sense, but my brain couldn't really make the connecions.

I liked the story and dialogues, they were a healhy balance between creepy, funny and trippy.
Voice acting was good, except for a character's (actor was talking too close to the microphone i suppose. However that was only one occurence, apart from it, the game is profesionally made).

Style/design-wise, it reminds me of Phantasmagoria, if you're familiar with it, a point-and-click from 1995.

It was a decent experience, and it would've been cool if the game had a short-film at least, made after it.

Simple and relaxing maze

Many years ago i was a big fan of maze games but with time i grew against them. I mostly bought this particular one because of the aesthetics (I'm a sucker for retrowave-like stuff).
It's more relaxing than challenging (which for me is a plus, i'd rather just relax and have fun nowadays).

Some levels may appear more intimidating than they really are.

Movement is smooth, and i think because the maze has that gradient, it's easier to not lose track of the paths/environment.

If i had something to nitpick: I think the little ball(?)/you could've been a bit cooler, maybe a more interesting model, and maybe a trail or something when you move.

I finished it in like 30 minutes, so i would say it's pretty short, but i wouldd've probably lost interest in it (I tend to get bored easily).

I was pleased with it, and i am happy with my purchase. Cheers to the devs!
