Really neat. Short tactical battles with mech management. Gameplay is a balance of parts, damage, and heat. Strategy involves taking missions for rewards and making new parts. Like a pixelated shrunk down version of tactical games like Front Mission or Final Fantasy Tactics, and the economy of MechWarrior 2 Mercs.

Great game! Similar tactical gameplay to XCOM but the hit chances are accurate. It's not just an XCOM copy though, there's an overworld branching story to play through, and there are several few-hour scenarios instead of one long campaign. There's also a "card" equipping mechanic where individual cards grant skills, but your entire equipped hand can add more bonuses in your favour. If you're on Linux, the native version crashes a lot. Force the Windows version to play with Proton and it works fine.

Put just over 40hrs into this around Build 41. It seems very promising with lots of things to potentially do, however you really have to min-max and metagame to get your skills from the TV in the first 8 days or you're in for a LONG boring slog to grind skills up. Even then, the combat is fairly boring and zombies keep generating, so to explore the map you have to do a lot of boring melee or firearm circle-strafing and hope you have hoarded enough ammo. Ultimately each playthrough is interesting until you become self-sufficient and then falls flat. Try it again in a few years.

Great tactical battles which are small in size but big in strategic thinking. Nice pixel art style and fitting soundtrack. Short individual games and rounds, easy to play for a short time or a long time, but many unlockables and achievements so there's probably hundreds of hours to unlock everything. If you like FTL or the battles of TRPGs you'll like this.

Great game. An obvious love letter to Top Gear on SNES and Lotus on the Mega Drive, this modern take is even better than those original games. Enjoyable gameplay and progression with a good variety of tracks. The soundtrack is AWESOME, it's made by Barry Leitch who did the original Top Gear and Lotus soundtracks too. I've put a lot of hours into this game on Android so it's cool to have it on PC too.

As the other reviews say, this is a pixel art metroidvania which is fun but doesn't quite achieve great status. Still, it's pretty good.

The game looks great and plays well. Controls are very tight, though you definitely want a gamepad, keyboard is no good here. (I couldn't get a PS4 controller working thru Proton, but a Logitech controller which uses the X360 driver works fine)

There are a lot of things here that I like about metroidvanias. You unlock the map as you explore, no need to "buy" a map like in Hollow Knight. Enemies are varied and their simple patterns are mostly used very well, when I get hurt it's usually my fault and not cheap. Screens do get a little samey but there's usually some unique landmark to help make a picture of the level in your mind without checking the map all the time. The music suits well as "background" though is nothing amazing. Boss battles are pattern-learning and you'll usually die on first attempt, so good difficulty curve there.

Some elements are very under-used. The idea of three unique-skilled characters is very Lost Vikings, but the double-jump shotgun character is far better than the other two in most situations. There's really no need to switch to the others until you get a puzzle they are required for. The characters could be rebalanced a bit.

The large map interconnects relatively well, though the player is not always guided on the correct path, and backtracking is very long and tedious to unlock those unexplored corners of the map. I don't know how to solve this without making the game more linear. Perhaps a "map target" like Zero Mission would help to determine the main path from side paths?

When descending, you cannot look down so have to take things very slow to avoid damage, which breaks the flow of the otherwise fast-paced game. A look-down ability or panning the camera down on descents would solve this.

Overall I do like this game and I think it's worth buying if you are into metroidvanias. Especially if you like an older style of game like the early GBA Castlevanias, or Super Metroid ROM hacks, or if you also like cinematic platformers like Flashback and Bloodthorne.

What a huge disappointment. People say this is the "best" metroidvania? Pfft! Enemies are tedious and samey, they all knock back and charge you again so the huge enemy variety is pointless. Fight difficulty is either non-existent or hard, but the constant boss-pattern hard enemies really overstay their welcome fast. Collecting coins is a slow chore, even a few hours in it seems you need so many coins it's just a grind. A lot of mechanics are completely pointless or just get in the way of actually playing the game, like not having any map at all in a new area, the way coins randomly fly off until you get the firefly item, the health recharge when bosses don't give you enough time to recharge. Wasn't a fan of the stereotypical indie hand-drawn art style. After hearing all the rave reviews I wasn't expecting this to be the best game I ever played, but I wasn't expecting to hate it. Hollow Knight doesn't get anywhere near Super Metroid or even Axiom Verge. Skip this.

Can't say this thrilled me too much. A basic camp management simulation which boils down to "collect enough food every day" and fetch quests. On quests you do JRPG-style combat with a 3D interface that feels like a cheap amateur Unity game. Never enough ammo so you may as well just pump all points into melee. Good idea but tedious execution.

Weird game. A renpy visual novel with not-the-best translation from Russian. The story is about a guy who lives in a domed futuristic city and makes holographic AI reconstructions of people as a day job. The city appears to be manipulated around him in his personal life, so it's hard to tell what's reality and what's not. The stories are varied but sometimes hard to follow due to the poor sentence structure. I don't see any deeper literary meaning, so I guess it's a slice-of-life exploration into insanity or the nature of personal reality? Each playthru is <30 minutes. There seem to be maybe 8~12 endings. Good idea with not-so-good execution. Still, it has a degree of charm to me. Hopefully this review helps you decide if you'd like to try it. In future I would like the author to write more and to improve the English translation.
