This review is based on my time in overwatch 1 and overwatch 2 with a combined total of around 2500 hours into the game.

Pls take the time to read this review I know its long but its coming from someone with a lot of passion for this game and having a lot of history with the game.

I started my overwatch journey in 2016 and i was hooked right away. I play tank in final fantasy online and world of warcraft so picking the tank roll was a no brainier. I loved tanking in overwatch 1 yeah it was a bit chaotic in the first 3 years since the game was finding it self. But it was fun the community was not perfect but overal a lot of fun. I found my group that I played for years with found my tank duo and we had a lot of fun doing stupid stuff and just overall having fun. The overwatch events trough out the years was so much fun. We loved getting to know the story behind the game and the characters we love.

Then we got the update where the dev team said they wouldn't bring any new hero's to the game anymore since they were working on overwatch 2. We were excited to hear it would have a PVE where we would get backstory and dive into the lore of overwatch. We couldn't wait I couldn't wait. For years we played overwatch 1 getting more and more hyped about overwatch 2. Overwatch 1 was stil getting updates here and there and balancing changes with a couple of events and ofc the skins. The skins we got were so hype for us we grinded to get lootboxes so we had the skins or coins for the skins. Laughing when i got a mercy skin our support main wanted and vice versa.

Overwatch 2 first big announcement was that we would turn into a 5v5. It was the first sign the game wouldn't be the same as overwatch 1. Not that changes are bad but I knew me and my tank duo wouldn't be able to play tank together anymore. But if this was all that would have been fine. but the month's leading up to the overwatch 2 beta we got the news that overwatch 2 would go free to play for the PVP and that PVE wouldn't come out with the PVP release. Another thing was that PVE would behind a pay wall (understandable since PVE is a lot of work). We were so excited for PVE that we were disappointed to say the least.

Then the beta came out we were so hyped planning our private live around it so we would all be able to play the beta. We were able to play junker queen and sojourn. As a tank main I was ofc excited to play junker queen. And seeing the reworks on characters like doomfist ( who went from dps to tank) and bastion was exciting. Ofc the beta wasn't completely balanced with some characters being a bit to strong but that's what a beta is for. We where hyped and excited to see whats to come with the full release.

When overwatch 2 came out it was an absolute madness games crashing, people not getting into the game and unbalanced hero's. As someone who was looking forward to the game a lot i was very disappointed. The first 2 weeks of the game was very chaotic but different as to when overwatch 1 came out. Even tho characters got reworked and even 1 moved to another role it felts lacking content. Besides a couple of new maps, 3 new characters and going from 6v6 to 5v5 not much changed. We also got the news that not every season we would be getting a new hero unlike overwatch 1. We accepted this tho since the real reason we played overwatch 2 was for when eventually the PVE would release.

Then the day came, overwatch 2 PVE was canceled. I was sad and angry. Why did they cancel it? They bit of more then they can chew and wanted to focus more on PVP. The reason for this is ofc since there was more money to be made in PVP with skins and battlepasses ofc. But worst of all was they knew PVE would not happen even before overwatch 2 was released.

Looking at all of this I stil decided to give the game a positive review yes the game is not perfect but for the last couple of months i have seen a lot of improvements to the game. The reworks and the changes to the battlepass are amazing updates. Meaning there is still hope for the game I fell in love with almost 10 years ago ( getting old lol).

The updates from the past year include 1 of the most fun new characters to play called venture. I know not everyone likes venture since its a non binary character and not everyone wants this in their game. But if you look purely at the character design and ability's its one of the most unique characters in the game to date. Same goes for rammatra and the other characters that got added since the release. Seeing how big the april fools event was and that they are adding more events every season is showing the devs are trying to change the game and improve on it. Listening to community feedback being more open with the community and actually showing monthly updates is giving me hope for this game. And I can't wait for whats to come.

I could talk about overwatch for hour's and hour's sorry that its such a long review. This game is just a big part of my life so I wanted to take the time to write a proper review and a bit of backstory to the game.
