Played hundreds of hours on Switch. It has 97% positive ratings for a reason. Simple yet complex as you take on more challenging runs like a well made game should be. A run lasts longer than you think but you probably won't notice lol

>Load into a game
>Pick my favorite class, Engineer
>See sniper fire and barricades on top of a windmill
>Not my team
>Pull out my RPG
>Shoot two or three into the windmill.
>It falls
>Get XP for sniper touching grass too quickly
>Structure also lands on another enemy and smushed them
>???
>ez double kill

So much of the game is destructible and it’s a chaotic battlefield when both teams full on fight over one capture point. Only have played 127 v 127 mode and love it. Saw other reviews that mentioned people in clans might mass report you to get you temporarily banned. Haven’t seen anything remotely close to that level of toxicity. So far, the community has only been goofy and fun instead. The area voice chat is a core pillar to this game.

Played at least 1,000 hours on Origin before it was on Steam. Brother wanted me to play again so I said I'd play a few matches at least. I am not a new player and it's forcing me to do orientation matches? Must be some new thing, wasn't there pre-season 1. Even worse, it won't let me even actually do the orientation matches so I'm soft-locked out of playing the game. 10/10

This is infuriating but I'd still give it a bad review based on the missteps they've made over the years with what was a great game.

Oddly addictive. Lots to do, tons of fun. Only qualm is a few things aren’t fully explained but by the time you’d need that info, you’d be invested enough to seek that info out. Modding is easy and the community for it is great too.

This game, while built upon foundations and refinements of the previous titles such as the Dark Souls series, gives you a sense of adventure that I've not seen the likes of since Morrowind. I don't know if I feel the same level is there but it's closer than any other I've played.

Locations you visit have purpose to them. There's always some sort of item at the end or during the adventure of a new location. It may not be for your build but it is a significant item. Smaller areas can also have this but sometimes it's just crafting materials. Unfortunate but understandable.

Many bosses in dungeons are seemingly repeated but there's a catch to this. They aren't simply the same boss but with more health. They'll be a similar boss but with new moves. Sometimes that's just new moves and that's it. Other times, it's new moves with different damage types. One watchdog may be only physical while the next has a new slam attack that does magic damage. One breaths fire as an attack. The variance is welcome as I'm sure designing entirely unique bosses for every one of these locations would be far too much to get done and done well. This is an acceptable compromise to the likes of seeing Smelter Demon getting stat buffs and a new flame color.

Do not be mistaken, this game is built on the core foundations of what made Demon's and Dark Souls games. It is not the same game. You can beat any boss with patience and learning. This is not expected though. Sometimes, you should go explore surrounding areas, find more items and merchants, acquire more levels and upgrade your arsenal. The game encourages you to do this. Do not beat your head against the wall if you're not hard headed. Just because the game leads you to the first major boss does not mean you need to be there if you're having trouble. There's probably over a dozen bosses immediately available the second you leave the starting area, most of them will not give you trouble like the major boss the game is telling you about with the Guidances of Grace.

This is an open world. This is not a level to level game like previous entries with a maximum of one or two alternative routes you might be able to get sidetracked on. Go on an adventure. If the idea of going on an adventure in a Dark Souls-like game does not appeal to you, then I do not recommend you this game. There is only dead space in between areas to give it a bit more room to breath instead of having non-stop combat. There are tons of hidden bosses. I haven't even beaten all of the bosses in the beginning area and I know I've beaten about 10 or so there before I went on with the main story.

The combat has been improved. Jumping, jump attacks, horseback combat, and guard counters have significantly changed how this game plays. Breaking posture is a great mechanic that helps alleviate the spam of light attacks that Dark Souls III suffered from. Heavy attacks, charged heavy attacks, jump attacks, and guard counters all do significant posture damage. Light attacks also add onto posture damage but not as much. There's a trade off here. Attack harder but slower and a bit riskier or attack quickly but lighter with more safety.

The PC issues for some have been awful. That is something that should not be ignored. Personally, my only issues have been framerate drops that almost always happen in the open world and outside of combat while on a horse. One time, Easy Anti-Cheat told me I was doing something wrong and kicked me back to the menu. I restarted the game and I was not banned or anything and my progress was not lost either thankfully. Others have had worse issues. There have been a few patches including one released the day of this review. I've heard it helped a lot of issues. Just be warned that this is a possibility.

I only liked this game at first and had my concerns about the open world. But after more thoroughly exploring the opening area and then proceeding to the next one, I have fallen in love with this game. If it keeps up this level of quality and sense of adventure, it is truly a masterpiece.

A must have for any Souls veteran who wants to roam more in a game of that genre. And a good entry point for newcomers as well due to the plethora of options available to ease your experiences and hardships of fighting enemies.

Can't speak for the singleplayer, but for the multiplayer it's the best 343 has done so far. Far better than Halo 4 and 5. Still needs some improvements but well done, finally a step in the right direction.

Pros:
- Halo Reach
- Halo Combat Evolved
- Halo 2
- Halo 3 ODST
- Halo 3

Cons:
- Halo 4

EDIT:
Seriously it's mostly good. Too bad 343 has left or made awful matchmaking for this game. Don't require us to play competitive matches for challenges if it's going to be that horrendous. You'll either be paired with skilled players on your ranking level or AFKs or bots that run forward and can't notice anything behind them happening.

Also, some sketchy ♥♥♥♥ happens sometimes or it's just matchmaking putting me up against literal gods while I'm just a decent player (1.7 K/D). People who have spawn patterns and times memorized so well that I get a grenade to the face before I can move out of a spawn really should be playing against each other more often.

Fun game with fun mechanics. Too bad the matchmaking is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Prepare for quickplay lobbies that have 2 people on each team absolutely destroying the 3 noobs on the other team.
