Updated for 3.20: They fixed a lot of stuff. Some of it still makes you want to pull your hair out and it often feels like this game is on life support while they work on Path of Exile 2 and the "vision". If you're reading this during 3.20, download it and play it if you hated 3.19.
Updated for 3.19: This game is now bad. You don't get loot but you still get punished.

This game never gives me what I want...

... and I love it. Keeps me challenged, just the way it should be.

If you like Diablo, Grim Dawn, Lost Ark, Devilian (yeah, I said it), etc. then you're going to love this game. Then you're going to hate this game and uninstall it and stop playing it. One day you're going to stumble across a streamer you like who started playing it. Your interest will be piqued and you'll re-install it and play for a league.

Then you're going to uninstall it again because let's be real, Chris Wilson is insane and how can someone make a game so punishing, so stupid, so awesome, so... wait. No. You've uninstalled it. It's time to go back to delivering pizzas on Lego Island.

Out of nowhere you find yourself praising Chris's genius, laughing at anyone who wastes their time posting on Reddit, selling services on Forbidden Trove, and leaving your game on idle throughout the day so you can see the icon light up when someone finally wants to buy that high value end game item you meticulously crafted.

... I'm 1400 hours in and I haven't even done half the stuff in the game. Where has my life gone?

I received this product for free... because it's a free game. So download it, it's free. What do you have to lose?

When Global Offensive launched, it didn't live up to the hype that was built for it. It felt like Source, but with terrible hit boxes and underpowered guns.

Since launch, the team has put a lot of effort into revitalizing the experience and listening to community feedback. The game is thoroughly enjoyable now and well worth the $15 price.

The only unfortunate reality is that this game has caught up with the times. Microtransactions will be put in your face at every corner. Fear not, though, as these in-game purchases and drops have no affect on balance (unlike Counter-Strike's sibling, Team Fortress).

If this review system had a star or number scale, I'd give it 4.5 out of 5... or 9 out of 10. 27 out of 30, whatever floats your boat. Reopen this game and give it some attention; win your ten placement competitive games and decide then if you want to continue playing. The microtransactions are easily ignored, however don't pretend like you're not tempted to pick up a slick paint job and a crazy banana holographic sticker for your favorite gun off the marketplace.
