it's a alright sidegrade but I wouldn't call it THE "ultimate" version (not necessarily a bad version either), would recommend giving the fes ps2 version a try first because all the extra flash has made it way too easy even with the attempts of rebalancing

I really liked the part where you have to fiddle with third party community made patches (when the steam deck rating is just a yellow dot (meaning it should work with some gameplay minor issues)), not because the game is old and new OS's lack official support or proton update borked it or something like that but because the required third party launcher that comes with it is out of date and won't work if you don't fix it

a brilliant mix of slice of life and yakuzer action, a worthy successor to the yakuza trilogy

I knew that I just experienced a masterpiece and clapped

I like the part in the game where a cult was hunting a man for supposedly not releasing his work on the right day, but if you venture into the quest slightly it turns out that the cult was dumb and forgot time zones exists and in the mans time zone it was still released on the right day

you know how someone makes something alright, it's not perfect but servicable and then changes bit by bit to the point it's not the same thing you used to like? that's ow2
also holy ♥♥♥♥ the monetization is awful now, I'm fine with cosmetics being paid (a bit overpriced but whatever) but gameplay being locked behind a paywall (or hours long grindwall if you want to try out the new heroes)? cringe especially since the game wants you to counter pick

good game, I enjoyed, recommended

in the first game, while having a lot of random elements the game still felt like you could take control, the challenge is learning the game and how to prepare for missions, which heroes to go with (for example heroes that uses a lot of bleed aren't going to be very useful against skeletons in the ruins) and how much equipment you might need depending on the mission size, when you are on a mission you need to know when to fold to minimize casualties and maximize loot and then when you get out give rehab for stress/quirks (and based of the quirks decide if it's worth the time and money and time to remove it)
here in 2 unless you beat the final boss of the run the only thing that seems to carry on between runs is candles to upgrade characters/inventory/etc and skill unlocks you find through story checkpoints, so even if everyone starts hating each other and slowly dying between each enemy encounter there is no reason to pull out (keep gambling) and there doesn't seem to be nearly as much you as the player can do to take control of the scenario except pick a party that has a good dynamic at the start
(of course I have only played 7ish hours at review so might change later if it grows on me but I'm not the biggest fan of the new gameplay style so far)

it is a really captivating story from start to finish, I'm not really a person that reads a lot but I couldn't put it down and I read through it in one sitting

compressed audio (saves space and filters audiophiles)
portable verison (fes chuds btfo'd)
doesn't add anything unnecessary ("but I want the cutscenes!!" stfu "but I really need to be able to select skills when merging personas" stfu you don't)
good remaster of the best game in the persona trilogy.
