I would advice that anyone interested in this game wait at least couple of months more before purchasing the game.
At the moment, it is quite easy, yet grindy.

-Enemy A.I, either by design or because of pathing issues, usually only resorts to hit-and-run tactics, which get quite frustrating when you have a constant trickle of weak mobs barreling towards you. This is especially aggravating when one is trying to build, mine or cut trees.

-Building mechanics, while robust, usually end up in player frustration. This is usually because of either the ground refuses to play ball, or because one can't just get the angle right to place the blocks. Building up or down usually means having to build scaffolding and hoping to get the cursor to hit the right pixel. Building anything on water is a veritable nightmare, since you cannot dive.

-Exploration, while interesting at first, gets old quite quick. One usually ends up seeing the same things over and over. The ruins are usually empty of anything interesting, and towers unclimbable due to stairs usually clipping in the walls of the towers.

-Grinding for resources is.. horrible. You are not only limited by the weight limit, which you can only increase with a specific equippable item, but also by your available inventory slots. To add insult to injury, one usually loses nearly half their precious slots to the necessary equipment, like armour, weapons and food.
Then there is the actual resource gathering. Aside from wood, one usually has to scour the entire biome for things like berries or minerals, since one only gains a single berry per bush or 1-2 minerals per slowly mined bit of from the vein.

-Less said about the skill system, the better. For how little it does, it might as well not be there.

All these things end up creating a slow and painful experience of hauling things from point A to point B, and hoping that you have the next bit of technological increment you unlock actually gets you something fun or interesting, instead of just increasing your crafting station level.

Unless there is a steep sale, do not bother.

-The story is just terrible.
-Gun balance seem to be all over the place.
-Player is showered with legendaries and uniques, rendering any other loot obsolete.

If nothing else, at least the game has some nice changes from it's predecessors, like mantling and at-will fast travel.
