Amazing game harking back to the glory days of Harvest Moon. So much content to explore. Only real issue is money not scaling well in the endgame. You can end up shoehorned into making nothing but wine all day everyday.

Supergiant really knows what they're doing. A passionate studio behind the likes of Pyre, Transistor, and Bastion, they've created another smash hit. A rougelite boasting an ancient setting with a modern aesthetic and story to follow. Characters are extremely likeable, combat is smooth and flashy, and the soundtrack by Darren Korb is gripping and fervent. While it can take time to get off the ground once you get your first few upgrades you really fall into a rhythm. If the game is truly too difficult feel no shame in turning on the Godmode setting. After all, video games are for everyone and you don't have to prove yourself to anyone. Have fun and remember, there is no escape!

I started playing Dead by Daylight when it was first released. I found it to be both a scary and atmospheric game that frightened me every match. I normally don't play scary games so I set it aside and didn't return to it for almost 2 years. Coming back to it I found so much more joy in playing than I had in the past. There were so many perks, characters, and maps to play with. The Dead by Daylight team has really stood by their creation with constant updates and new content. The movie and TV tie in characters have only made the experience that much sweeter. This game has really become a go to for me playing with friends or solo and there's never any hesitation to play when I open Steam. I love unlocking items and perks on all the characters; there's so much to do it really will give you something to work towards for hundreds of hours.

2021 Edit: Still enjoying the game but after so many hours I do feel like the amount of content left to experience is coming to an end. While the game has improved with age it no longer innovates. No new modes have been released and each expansion brings a higher cost of entry for new killers and survivors.

Definitely a difficult game and not for the faint of heart. Constantly having to change up your team composition for each mission and area can lead to as much time spent out of a dungeon as in one. You can make the game as hard as you want with different handicaps and achievement hunting as you want but there isn't really any way to make the game easier so it ends up alienating an audience that doesn't enjoy stressing about the games they play. I can't really recommend it for most people but I did enjoy when my hours of planning came together to finish a difficult dungeon. This game is targeted at people who are willing to lose everything they worked for and can plan for the worst hours in advance.

NieR is one of those 'comeback of a life time' stories. It's made by a man whose previous games weren't well received and sold poorly. His idealistic views of video games told how they're held back by developers who are too afraid to take any risks. NieR is one of Square Enix's best games in recent years and it's because of that desire to take risks.

When you play NieR one of the first thing's you'll realize is how good the movement feels. You can literally spend hours running around and you can feel good about how you’re getting from point A to B. You can jump, double jump, hover, hover spin, dash, walk, run, sprint, and many of the weapons also give you special movement abilities. Combat feels great, there’s a lot of weapons and different ways to play. All the playable characters have something that make them special. Characters are likeable and there are very few of them so the story can focus on the relationships of those characters rather than spreading itself across many. The story is good and has a lot of callbacks to the first NieR game but you don’t have to know anything about it to understand this game’s plot.

The only two negatives I would like to point out is that after you finish the game and would like to go back and finish up side quests and hunt for endings or what else, the world feels very broken. Because the game world changes over the course of the story you can go into different states of the game but you can’t do all the side quests or find all enemies/units in a single state so you have to bounce around the chapter select a lot. The other negative point I’d like to note is 9S’s story, it felt like a chore to play the whole game a second time just so you could see what happens afterwards.

Thanks for reading. I’d give the game a 9.5/10 It’s really something special, I’m really hoping for a sequel that can live up to Automata’s legacy.

It's hard to put what makes Alan Wake special into words. I played this game many years ago but I've been watching Twin Peaks on Netflixs recently and I keep thinking about Alan Wake in the back of my mind. I love the story. I love the characters. I love that this game scared me but it's not really a horror game. The combat is tight and I haven't seen a combat system quite like it since I've played it. That moment when you are running out of battery and have to reload, you're being swarmed so you dodge and the world slows to a crawl while the camera pans to show you how you just barely missed a lethal hit from an enemy swinging from behind. It's an amazing experience and definitely worth playing if you can find a way to play it since the music license expired and the game can't be sold on Steam anymore. I voted for this game in the Steam 2017 Awards for "The No Apologies" Award.

So I don't normally write reviews. It's difficult to put thoughts into words, especially for things such as a game you enjoyed at one point because you may become blinded by nostalgia. All I can say about Dust: An Elysian Tail is that it is my favorite indie game of all time and I would recommend it to any of my friends. The action and combat/combo systems are strong, the main characters are extremely likeable, and the story seems fairly straight forward looking back on it but it stuck in my mind as being memorable even after not playing the game after many years. I don't think I knew this game was made by a single man until after I finished the game but that just makes me even more impressed by this masterpiece. I hope to come back to this game and replay it sometime in the future. I hope to never forget the time I spent in Falana. I gave Dust: An Elysian Tail the “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award in the 2016 Steam Awards.

It is Skyrim with guns, with the same customization, dialog, level-ups, and followers. The difference is with the nuclear fallout. I need to finish it at some point. The problem is the glitches. I was trying to be nice to everyone but for some reason now every NPC tries to kill me on sight :(
