Completed this game for the first time since 2015 when it released. I remembered almost nothing about it so for the most part this was the equivalent of another first playthrough.

It's not my favourite Frictional game, but then, I don't think it's possible to truly pick a favourite. They are all equally as good in their own way. And SOMA is no exception.

It is extremely stressful. I think it might actually be the scariest in terms of dreading each room. In Amnesia the danger feels thrilling, but in SOMA the danger feels real. You never really get a chance to relax because the area is always completely unfamiliar. Combined with the existential and thought provoking questions it asks you at every turn, it's really quite special.

I think the main thing that sets this apart from the others is that it lacks the feeling of adventure. Sure you go on a journey, but it's not intriguing in the same way. You go on the journey for an entirely different reason.

In many ways this is probably the best title Frictional will make. Penumbra was the concept, Dark Descent was the classic, SOMA was the experience, Rebirth was the favourite, Bunker was the throwback. I can't wait to see what Frictional does next; and I'm actually glad that it won't be a horror game because it feels like they've wrapped it all up really neatly.

Long story short: Play the game. Keep in mind that it's not exactly like the others but is still just as good

No but in all seriousness this is a great game from a great dev. Super impressive first release and a masterpiece in storytelling. It's a very well paced visual novel and bug free.. Sit there in the dark and play... it's very immersive! You won't regret buying this. Played on Steam Deck and works flawlessly

I enjoyed this just as much as The Dark Descent, if not more. There wasn't a single minute that I didn't enjoy.

I was apprehensive about playing it due to the larger amount of negative reviews about the story/gameplay but finally decided to go for it. Anyone who says this game is lacking... is wrong.

The atmosphere and locations were perfect, and they matched the feel of the first game flawlessly. I felt actual dread in all the right places, and it was paced really well. Without spoiling anything: The story is good, and the callbacks to the earlier games were excellent. Even the soundtrack has callbacks.

This is an Amnesia game. It doesn't try to be anything more, and it doesn't need to. If you want more TDD, then play this

Still tense and atmospheric to this day. The best horror game, aged like a fine wine

I went into this game tonight for the first time after avoiding it for years. I had no idea of what to expect other than "Hopper's pumpkin investigations" (if you know the reference, and you enjoy the reference, then you'll love Firewatch because it perfectly captures the same vibe)

The story isn't too deep and there isn't much reading to do aside from a few notes here and there. Exploration happens naturally as you progress through your objectives, and they do a good job of leading you around the map. You don't need to zig-zag comb the map for hidden collectibles, because mostly they are either out in the open or the story will lead you to them anyway.

The game is around 4 or 5 hours, which seems short but it felt like the perfect length. If it was longer it might've dragged, and if it was shorter it would've been underwhelming. I finished it in one session. The best way to play is to just let yourself get immersed and don't overthink it. Enjoy it

Expertly crafted. The immersion of this game is unmatched by anything else I've ever played. It's very old, but works flawlessly on modern systems (PC & Mac)

For the time that you play this game, you feel transported into the world of Riven. You are an explorer; and you find yourself writing actual notes on paper or on your iPad. Seriously, you need somewhere to write down your thoughts. This is a necessity to make any progress. I don't know of any other game that requires this or uses the idea so expertly.

Don't expect the game to hold your hand because it won't, but if you enter this world with intrigue and a science-y archaeology mindset then you'll have no trouble completing it.

Machinarium is a beautifully crafted game. There is no reading involved, and the story is told entirely visually either through interacting with the world or through short animations played within comic strip style thought bubbles. The puzzles are simple but engaging (sometimes frustrating, but you may not be thinking logically enough)

The atmosphere, music, and sounds are crafted with care and all extremely cohesive. There is never something used simply for the sake of it. Everything has a purpose; and for a 2D game, there is a rather good sense of depth. You can interact with many things in the world indirectly. This is a living place.

If you get stuck, there is a hint guide and a walkthrough built in to the game. These consist of hand drawn illustrations (much like the game's presentation itself), which are designed to loosely lead you in the right direction if you get stuck. It's done in a clever way that allows you to keep the satisfaction of solving the puzzles for yourself and mostly functions as a way of avoiding breaking the flow.

Play it once. You won't regret it. It only takes a few hours. It has aged like a fine wine.

I mean, it's Forza. It's plastic and feels very corporate but it's still fun. The map is good, and the driving is arcade-y. Would be nice if there were time of day and weather options, but we're certainly not getting any 5 years after release. Buy it on sale. Runs great on Steam Deck

It's nice to just relax and wander. Everything makes a noise. Don't be afraid to get sidetracked
