amazing game!!! explores all of its concepts super well, really really nicely structured, rlly satisfying movement. architecture is REALLY good, so much thought put into how scenes are framed and how the structure will appear from your perspective. ending was very satisfying.

i get the same satisfaction from this game that i got from cs:go kz, even though the movement style is very different the "gameplay loop" is pretty similar (look at an obstacle, think how you can use your movement tools to overcome it).

even after beating the game i feel like there's so much more to do!

fun game, but probably only if you have some experience already with source/quake movement.
most of the level design is good, but there's a few pretty awful parts, like the maze which just requires 0 skill at all and makes you backtrack a very annoying amount each time you fail. the first maze segment was fine, but the second one was miserable.
also, i like the gimmicks at the ending, but some of them will only appear once you're already jumping to a platform which is pretty annoying since you aren't really being punished for anything in your control. most of my time in the game was just spent on the second maze and the blinking platforms at the end, which both slowed the pace of the game alot - i think the blinking platform segment could have been made a little shorter.

overall fun little game though with some nice replay value, might go for the rest of the achievements sometime.

the story in this game sucks mega balls oh my god it's so bad ahh every ending sucks so much ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥ game.

combat / balance
combat is pretty good, and crafting system is kinda interesting, but the balance in the game is ♥♥♥♥. it gives you insanely op weapons/power armour in the first 60 minutes of the game so literally nothing ever felt like a challenge. deathclaws should probably be one of the scariest enemies in the game, but here they are dumb♥♥♥♥s with the worst pathfinding who will just run in circles around a pile of rubble until you shoot them enough. the game even babysits you to kill one in the first quest of the game. i think the only enemy that ever killed me was some super mutant suiciders who ran at me from around corners. there was no point in the game that felt like a challenge since you always have 10 trump cards (fat man, power armour, minigun, quantum nuka cola, mines/grenades, food/drug buffs) that will instantly kill any enemy.

story (spoilers i guess)
main factions were all so ♥♥♥♥ that i wasn't motivated to align with any of them, so the main questline just felt like a chore. each faction will randomly give you a quest that will instantly force you to kill an entire other faction, removing any progress you made with them. in the end it felt like i had to just pick the faction that i hated the least and be forced to kill the rest just to get a boring, unsatisfying ending. at first there was some motivation to complete the main questline since the goal was "find your son", but once you manage that there is absolutely no direction to the rest of the story - just help one of the factions destroy the others. despite the main story being ♥♥♥♥, there was at least some pretty fun side-quests, and some of the minor characters were pretty funny.

xp / perk system
the perk system is not great. it never feels like you are working towards any goals, more just that you get a perk point and have to see "oh what's the best thing i could put this into that's available at my level right now?". even if you put a point into something relevant to you such as pistols, you wont be able to put another point into it for another 10 levels, so your character never really becomes specialised in any one skill. i think the tree system in skyrim is way better in terms of motivating you to level up, it felt way more rewarding and much more like you were working towards some long term goal - you had to commit to some real specific direction for your character.
also, the game almost never quantifies what any stat does. like, improving your strength will "improve your carry weight", but there's a bunch of other perks that do that too - there is often no way to tell which perk/item will be more beneficial than another, and this problem appears many times through the whole game. for perks like "buying/selling prices are improved", what reason is there not to say how much it'll improve by..?

bugs / dialogue
the bugs in this game are so annoying. skyrim/new vegas were buggy, but the bugs usually weren't very frustrating. in this game, NPCs are so janky that you regularly have to just sit in silence for 10 seconds just because the NPC doesn't want to give their next line of dialogue yet. if you ever have to do any kind of escort/follow mission, 90% of your time will be spent waiting for the NPC to start walking because they will randomly stop for no reason. NPCs also randomly end their dialogue if they get distracted by virtually anything (a helicopter spawning 500 metres away that they decide to shoot at, someone else pushing you slightly, etc.). if this happens, you have to restart the entire dialogue tree with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dialogue system where you have to guess what the ♥♥♥♥ you'll actually say from some two-word prompt. having the player be voiced felt like it added nothing and only drew out NPC interactions to be longer, more frustrating and less immersive. not only did i hate every significant character, i also hated myself.

ok rant over i just beat the game and was mad at it so i wanted to ♥♥♥♥ out my thoughts about it somewhere.

Watching a lets play or something would ruin it, it's massively about the experience but if you haven't had it spoiled it is easily the best game of the year, or many years. If you aren't sure, just play the demo.

The ending(s) are amazing and the storyline / narrative is amazing even if you don't like the RPG genre or narrative driven games. It is so well written that one of the hardest part of doing a genocide run (a run where you kill everything) is that it feels horrible since so many of the characters are so well presented and have such unique personalities, even in the random ecounter battles against common enemies it feels horrible killing them (most of the time, no one likes Jerry).

The soundtrack the second best I have ever heard, only thing that beats it is the Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack. Then again, I don't think it's possible to make a soundtrack that would better suit a game like this.

TL:DR play demo or just buy it please.

you can farm it for trading cards, sell the trading cards and boom. you have made profit (assuming you buy this game at £0.19 which is the average sale price) Other than that the game is... broken. And not massively entertaining, other than the glitches, those are pretty entertaining

Edit - this is a stupid wall of text im sorry + they added the level editor beta now but it crashes alot <33

When I started playing, I loved the game, but the last level pushed it to my favorate game of all time, the gameplay is frustratingly difficult, you always have a clear path or solution, the hard part is executing the plan. The soundtrack is the best soundtrack I've ever heard from a game, some of the songs, such as IAMTHEKIDYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN - Run, have actualy become some of my favorate songs of all time, which is so rare from a video game soundtrack. The story, though not really advertised, is one of the selling points of the game, the story is incredible, and in the last levels you get this feeling that you are missing so many hidden symbols and secrets, I still dont fully understand all of it, and I can't wait to find a forum or something and hunt for awnsers. The level design is significantly diferent from the first game, the first game was set in small, cramped hosues, this is set in much wider areas, even some areas outside, forcing you to plan your movements even more, or you could be shot from someone across the map. This map design is definately different and changes the gameplay quite a bit, but thats where my one problem with the game is, the level design forces you to use the tactic of peeking round corners to bait people to run at you so you can silently take them out, you will be doing this ALOT. Not to the point where its frustrating or ruins the game, but I'd prefer if not all the levels were wide open, there are admitedly a few levels not wide open, but more variety would be nice. Also, this game is disturbing. Like, really, I guarantee you will be disturbed by this game, it has blood and stuff, oh also, thats his intestines, yeah, you just chainsawed him in the stomach and let his intestines fall onto to the floor. But you are meant to go into it feeling sort of sick, it adds a feel of "What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on" that fits the atmosphere nicely, and as bad as it sounds, you get over that part, partly due to curiosity about the story I guess. Also, the puppet guy creeped me out first time I saw him ;-;.

TL:DR
Gameplay: 9/10
Story: 10/10
Level Design: 8.5/10
Soundtrack: 10/10
Overall: 9.5
Extras: Don't spoil the ending or story for yourself, you will have to peek corners to bait people alot and maybe play Hotline Miami first. Also they haven't added the level editor yet, that will be added later.
