21-Apr-24 Edit;

AMAZING dev team. There was a change in patch 1.10, some Discord feedback happened, and they took are of it within an hour or so. They care about their community SO MUCH, it can't be understated how appreciated they are.

Original review;

Big shout out to my partner who got this for me <3

This such a lovely, little chill game that really helps you focus. You can design your room, your avatar, your Spirits you unlock through cute little puzzles, it's just relaxing. I'll be at the bay window if anyone needs me.

It's a free beta of Halo MP. There's not much more you can ask for other than that.

Except for a better challange system.
Better armour customizations.
Eaiser menu navigation.
Ramming something with a Brute Chopper actually causes it to explode like in previous games.

Plus a few other things I can't think of.

It's hard to tell this is a mod sometimes because it is that good and polished. But it does have it's faults here and there.

I highly recommend it.

This game is mean. This game is cruel. This game makes you come back for more no matter how many times you die, how much madness you suffer, how many lives you watch be snuffed out.

The only problem with this game is that you have to collect all the Riddler trophies/challenges. That's it. Otherwise it's perfect.

It's a buggy mess at times, but a worthy addition to the Arkham franchise.

You'll be surprised how quickly you lose track of time playing this game, even though it seems like time is always against you.

I'm going to get this out of the way before I continue;

This is NOT as polished as the Portal 2 base game. There are the occasional graphical glitch or problem, and hiccup here or there. Also I have finished the game as of this review, unlike some other reviews which only have 1.5hrs or less.

BUT;

That being said, for $5.00 (as of this review) this is actually nice for the price. You can call it a mod or DLC or whatever you might want, but it's worth it. You can complain about the price all you want, but if you're ready to shell out money for another TF2 hat, a key for CS:GO or something like that, I think you can drop the cash for this.

Game play:
Basic Portal 2 game play, but with a twist. Instead of using the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, you're using a device which allows you to shoot the Repulsion and Propulsion gels introduced in the before-mentioned game. It adds a new element to it and switches it up quite a bit in many rooms. Controls are smooth, no real issues there but the physics can cause problems if you're not careful.

Puzzles:
Some of them are recycled from Portal 2 (which, all things considered, some puzzles in Portal 2 were recycled (either in part or in whole) from Portal 1) but others are new and unique. Towards the very end you'll be scratching your head, but some are frustrating and not in a good way, plus I think I beat Chapter 4, Chamber 8 not as intended) You'll have to shoot gel in front of you quite quickly in some puzzles and while it works, you're going to discover quite a bit of trial and error. But like its predecessors just stick with it and you'll get through.

Unfortunately, the hindsight of it all is that on some chambers your best bet is to spray gel everywhere you can because it'll actually help more then hinder. Plus you CAN and WILL knock yourself out of bounds or into a pit with the repulsion gel. Get used to that now and you'll be a happier person.

I did have issues in Chambers 2, 6, 10 and 14 all after you get both gels available, with one of the issues being what I feel is a programming oversight and the other being a crash. Your results may vary however.

Music;
Surprisingly fits with the game nicely, done in part by Harry101UK of "This is Aperture" fame. No complaints at all... except for one and you'll know it when it shows up. "Why is this even IN the music library?"

Voice work;
Here's where it takes a hit in my book. I understand that it's not done by professionals, I respect and admire them for the work they did. But they tried too hard to make another Wheatly and sadly, while your testing associate does have some clever one liners, he's more of background noise then anything else.

Overall:
I'm going to stress this again, like I did in the beginning.

This is fan made. It's not as polished as Portal 2. You'll get some problems here and there, it'll make you frustrated at times and you'll wonder what the hell they were thinking when they came up with some of the puzzles. But as a twist to the Portal mechanics, it's a nice little add-on storyline that's worth the price, on sale or not.

It has zombies. No reason NOT to buy it. It's a challenge, even on the lower settings and things are always changing. Totally worth it!
