Solid free to play tower defense/bullet heaven(?). It is very fun, and there is a donation DLC which just adds a wallpaper or something, so very worth it :)

Conquering meat bags is fun.

Edit: years later, 4th April 2024.

Insane dlc bloat, lots of core mechanics locked behind aforementioned dlc which are also overpriced and the spark that made the game seem genuine and unique is gone, another paradox interactive game lost to corporate dlc fetishism.

I shall start off by saying that I like this game a lot.

A lot of different interesting units, factions, and one of the most important things (in my opinion) is the background lore/flavor text which creates a splendid atmosphere for roleplaying, or just in general a good feel about the in-game environment. I got it through a sale because, which I would recommend you, reader, to do too. But if you have the money to spare, then don't be too afraid of getting it full-priced.

Age of Empires 3 is an RTS classic, the (unfortunately) last game in the Age of Empires' series installment, was brilliant for it's time, and definitely still can count itself among the best classic RTS' out there, even according to the standards of today for that genre in particular, as well as the Strategy genre as a whole.
Aside from this, the game also has an interesting shipment system, which is quite unique, and spices up the game, that is not even mentioning all of the different units, from the different civilizations and their playstyles.
The graphics are beginning to show their age, but nevertheless are still quite good, and decent to look at.
The AI, though a bit rudimentary, at hard difficulty can easily prove to be quite a challenge, especially if you are fighting the French with the Napoleon personality (viva la Baguette?).
The game is not supported anymore, due to it's age, however, you can easily through third party programs like GameRanger find and play multiplayer games online.

Oh, and remember to launch the game through Asian Dynasties, as you would otherwise not be able to access the content of all of the DLCs and their content at the same time. Enjoy. : )
