An actual review

My "Final Thoughts" at bottom

Ok, I felt I need to write this review. I don't know where to start, but here we go.

I have played WarZ, ISS, Aftermath, and now this. Spent money in all, and sadly yes it was all lost, with zero compensation. Each time I was very upset about it, but who wouldn't be. Each had potential and failed. This is not about the company, devs, or anything related. We are all here for the same reason. To find a good openworld zombie surival/pvp game.

I keep seeing post, or videos discussing the genere saying, "Oh another zombie survival.. blah blah bull -sh." Let's get this out of the way IMMEDIATELY. Are there alot of games in the genere? Hell yes. But, how many are actually the slightest bit worthy of playing? I don't care how many game are out there. If you want open world, zombies, survival, pvp, you have 2 choices. DayZ or H1Z1. (Maybe miscreated, haven't played it yet.) This game is so similar to WarZ I don't see all that much of a difference and I highly believe in time it will be even better. I loved WarZ. So we have DayZ, H1Z1, and hopefully we will have NewZ for more than a few months. So with 3 titles, I wouldn't dare call this a over done market. You and I both know we are still looking for that survival of our dreams. This may not be it, but dammit its good enough until it becomes what we want, or something else comes along to surpass it.

This game has bugs, yes. Are they game breaking? No. Yeah, you may lose some of your gear from bugs or crashing. But did you really lose anything? Gear is SO easy to obtain in this games current state I laugh when I lose my gear to bugs cause somes times its just funny, and I know within a few minutes I will have it all back. If you have a skin, or rare item, log, store it in your global if your so worried about it. Its a full loot pvp survival, and without the bugs, you should still expect to lose some sht.

Are the devs bad, idk. Haven't had any issues with them thus far, but in the past with warZ, Iss, aftermath, I have had horrible experiences. So far whoever is on the support team and dev team on NewZ is doing an outstanding job compared to past titles. I fully support what they are doing and they appear to be trying their best.

So if you are considering trying this game, Yes, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Its not yet the best game, its not complete, but its very fun, great pvp, and I beleive the game is on a great path.

Final Thoughts

Bugs: None game-breaking, but crashes, and losing gear over bugs like not being able to exit vehicle, not able to connect, "Please wait" etc, can be quite annoying.

Pvp: Very fun, feels just like the good old WarZ.

Hackers: Haven't ran into a single hacker, but have seen 2 encounters clearly using ESP ( if you played any of the previous titles.. this is insane.) but overall the anti hacks are comforting.

Looting: Tons of loot, easy to obtain. Feels more like collecting items from a warehouse rather than searching for that awesome rare loot.

Survival: I wouldn't say this is even implemented yet. They have a specific mode called survival that is not yet released, and all the servers are aimed towards pvp currently.

PayToWin?: No, not at all. Pay to be lazy? Yes. But developers deserver to make money, and they have a good system. If you can buy it, you can earn it. With the exeption of air drops, but if you are good, you can steal them. They made need some tweaking, but they aren't half bad currently. I didn'teven want to mention this topic, but someone needs to say it.

This is a good game so far, still has much work left to be done, but definitely worth trying out.

Highly Recommend

Mortal Online - More than a first look.

If you have the majority of reviews of this game, most are written by either users who:

1. Played for 10 minutes.
2. Played for maybe a week.
3. Complain because others are better at the game.
4. Don't understand all games have bugs (Yes this one has quite a few, however this game is so good it doesn't matter since they are not game breaking, just irritating.)
5. (Probably the worst... ) Can't handle the player community of this game.. Yes, it's probably the worst community, not going to try and ignore this. It's a Full loot PVP hardcore sandbox... its going to bring out the worst.

Me, I've played for several years, before mortal came to steam. With steam its getting alot better, and at a much faster rate. But it's brings COD fans, idiots, and immature user's who do not understand, or even like these sort of hardcore games. I've dealt with countless bugs, the horrific community, and sadly, terrible customer support.
But none of this, would ever weigh heavily enough to stop me from playing this game.

I've always wanted a game like this, and this is exactly it. No other game offers what mortal online does.

The combat:

Melee: You have directional attacks, directional blocking, different damage types (Blunt, peircing, slashing) And armor/resisting the same (Blunt, peircing, slashing). So not only do you have a variety of how you attack, you have a variety of damage types. Once you learn the game enough you can look at another player and seeing their armor type, and materials it's made of, knowing what its weak/strong against. The combat in this game is the MOST fun I've experienced. And the absolute best part, It's not super gear reliant. Myself and many others have defeated players with higher end gear, while being naked with a started sword known as "worn shortsword". So your not 100% screwed if they out gear you. This combat system is skill and knowledge based, not gear reliance based.

What is there to do in mortal? Plenty.

You can be a crafter, weaponsmith, armorsmith, cook, alchemist, tamer/breeder, miner, woodcutter, extractor, refiner, butcher, bowcrafter, engineer, and more.

You can be a Footfighter with swords, axes, daggers, clubs, poleswords, fistfighter, mounted combat, mounted archery, a mage, a dominator who utilizes pets to fight with/for them.

You can build your character to be however, and whatever you want. There are no restriction besides the total skillpoint usage.

As far as the F2P, P2P, P2Win, etc. This game is NOT F2P. It is P2P with an infinite trial. However, you can play this game as F2P.. Just not as efficiently, and with crafting no one would not recommend it since you cannot make very good items without having max skills/lores. PVE though, you can do everything a P2P player could do, if you have the combat skill,
To experience this game the way it is designed, and meant, then purchase a subscription, it is most definitely worth it.

If you do choose to give this game a try, don't be like the majority of others and just hang out in the starter zone. You will get angry, you will be dissapointed, and you will most likely quit playing the game. I think the starter town and how you start this game should be completely redone and reworked. But in the meantime, if you hang in there, ignore the idiots around you, then you will experience the game as it really is, and when looking at these reviews feel the same way I do which lead me to write my first game review.

No matter how bad it pisses you off, no matter how angry people make you, you will always come back to mortal online, because its just that damn good.
