Noble Belgique, ô mère chérie,
À toi nos cœurs, à toi nos bras,
À toi notre sang, ô Patrie !
Nous le jurons tous, tu vivras !
Tu vivras toujours grande et belle
Et ton invincible unité
Aura pour devise immortelle :
Le Roi, la Loi, la Liberté !
O dierbaar België, O heilig land der Vaad’ren,
Onze ziel en ons hart zijn u gewijd.
Aanvaard ons kracht en het bloed van onze ad’ren,
Wees ons doel in arbeid en in strijd.
Bloei, o land, in eendracht niet te breken;
Wees immer uzelf en ongeknecht,
Het woord getrouw, dat g’ onbevreesd moogt spreken,
Voor Vorst, voor Vrijheid en voor Recht!
O liebes Land, o Belgiens Erde,
Dir unser Herz, Dir unsere Hand,
Dir unser Blut, o Heimaterde,
wir schwören’s Dir, o Vaterland!
So blühe froh in voller Schöne,
zu der die Freiheit Dich erzog,
und fortan singen Deine Söhne:
Gesetz und König und die Freiheit hoch!
2 cups white sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup walnut halves
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan.
Step 2
Combine the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, eggs, flour, baking powder, and salt. Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Decorate with walnut halves, if desired.
Step 3
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with crumbs, not wet. Cool on wire rack.
""Great recipe!!! I did decrease the flour to 1 cup as suggested by someone else which makes them less cake like and more like I personally like my brownies. I then added 1 cup coconut flakes and 1/2 cup chopped pecans... Can you say "German Chocolate Cake Brownies"? Delicious. Thanks for a great recipe even though I get carried away and change recipes up a bit.""
