Before 2024 I had never played a DMC game, but I decided to try them out for the first time. Although there were some rough patches in DMC 1-4, DMC5 blew my expectations out of the water, it is probably one of the most well designed video game experiences of all time. Even though I had never played a DMC game before, DMC5 has pretty strongly solidified it's position as my favorite game of all time (at least until I get to try Metal Gear Solid: DELTA). The game improves mechanics introduced in previous titles such as jump canceling and grappling but massively increases the complexity and the depth in combat, to where someone who has never tried advanced tech before could easily stay airborne for minutes at a time using strings.
