Rimworld is a game about pleasing an indifferent god named Randy. Your colonists try and try but no matter what, Randy is a fickle and uncaring god. The cycle continues until Randy tires of your squirming and decides to snuff out your colony.

In reality, Rimworld is a colony sim on par with Dwarf Fortress. Unlike Dwarf Fortress, the learning curve is at once steep, yet gentle and leaves you with a sense of accomplishment for figuring out and achieving the most basic self-set objectives. The game is easy to figure out and jump into, and not so easy to jump out of. I can state this difficulty of leaving the game confidently, and prove it by pointing to my play time while I also clarify, once upon a time I ♥♥♥♥ on this game. Why? Because I didn't know.

I bought the game for a friend of mine and listened to him playing it over discord. I listened to him having fun, and wondered what I had missed. So I got it for myself, and I saw. I came to realize what I had been missing, and loved it. Yeah, this isn't a very informative review, but this is really all I have to say. I was wrong, this game is great. The only fly in the ointment is loading times. By itself, the vanilla game loads as quick as any other good game. Add a double hand full of mods though, and you can see long load times of five to ten minutes. Get up near 100 mods, and you could see that loading time sky rocket to 20-30 minutes. It's not the game itself doing this though. From my own digging around, I think it's a unity issue.

Randy givith, and Randy taketh.
