Dark Souls 2, in terms of PvE, doesn't even come close to being a sequel for Dark Souls 1. That being said, if you're in for the PvP, DS2 fairly outplays DS1 because of the servers, plus all the extra online features it includes compared to its successor. All in all it's a great game. Not insane like DS1, but better overal in terms of online playing.
If you're in for the graphics and want to play this game though, I do recommend you to wait for the 2015 re-release of this game, as DX11 will be included!
