Batman™: Arkham Origins Emerging from this after 50+ hours of gameplay, I feel I've been treated to a full AAA movie-level production of an experience, that has left me with a silly grin on my face and some great gameplay memories. Man I love this game! The first two were very enjoyable, and Origins tops them both, just a treat for the senses. I couldn't wait to return to it each session, and even the Riddler items were a joy to search out, each one a little mini-puzzle, and I spent many hours finding every single dang one of them. Already looking forward to playing Arkham Knight in the future! So many engrossing aspects, from the challenging gang battles, the unique and colorful villians and boss battles, to the fascinating crime scene reconstructions; there just aren't enough superlatives.

What Indika is 'about' isn't a simple thing. We meet the title character as a noviate, living in a bleak, uncaring, and brutal world, where she has been shoved into a corrupt and completely irrational religious bureaucracy for past 'sins', coping with inner daemons, being used and abused, and hopefully by the end of her journey breaking out of these mental shackles to confront life as it is with some independence of thought.

Very reminiscent in its presentation of this world to games like Metamorphosis and McGee's Alice & Alice Madness Returns, with mental worlds portrayed with over-sized, fantastical objects, though in Indika's case in an even bleaker monochrome palette, interspersed with child-like platforming interludes from her past (which I didn't care much for).

There's less of a 'game' here than an experience, and I wish more use had been made of the 'pray/demon' mechanic which has Indika suppressing her inner demon by 'praying' to switch between two alternate views of the world so as to navigate a level. Her demon muttering and arguing with her over religious niceties and morality are the best parts of the game. If you want a game that makes you think about fairly serious issues, and not just pure escapism, Indika is a good choice.

Intriguing exploration of Tron 'society', and the factions within. The artstyle meshes with Tron2.0 as well, I think the two complement each other well: One action-adventure, one a visual novel. Enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this mystery-investigative title hugely, and wouldn't let go until
I'd 100%'d it. You're a reporter tasked with solving a long-ago cold case in
a deserted village, by visiting buildings and residences in a fully 3D
environment, and looking for clues, documents and keys that lead you further
into the complicated lives and relationships among these townfolk, in the
manner of the famous game Gone Home.

As in Gone Home, there is no UI -- so refreshing. It's just you following
clues that lead you from location to location, opening doors, searching
buildings, and reading the many letters and documents to build a picture of
the past. The writing here is very good, and the central mystery worth the
effort to solve. A big thumbs up for The Painscreek Killings !!

I've not played any 'mechanic simulator' -type games before, but developed an increasing desire to attempt a game that looks at interacting with actual space hardware. Watching many Apollo program related movies, and then reading this very engaging book on the development of the Lunar Rover, Across the Airless Wilds: The Lunar Rover and the Triumph of the Final Moon Landings, pushed me over the edge into installing RMS.

The premise is that a permanent Mars base has a service garage for its research rovers, and you are the sole employee. Here are a couple pics of the setting, with a cute puppy Sojourner and its bruiser big brother Perseverance

both of which, along with the three other Mars rovers and the Ingenuity helicopter (assuming you buy the DLC) you will become intimately familiar with as you diagnose, disassemble and reassemble pretty much every single part over the many brief servicing jobs you are tasked with.

If you've ever built a car engine from the block up in your living room, or get quiet satisfaction from assembling scale models, this game is exactly that experience. It is simple and repetitive, yes, but also calming and contemplative, and you do learn quite a bit on a high level about how these machines are constructed, and the different scientific instruments each carries, including highly detailed models of the interior of many of these instruments.

As for how much 'fun' RMS is, depends on your personality I guess, and how much interest you have in these rovers or space hardware to begin with. Rover Mechanic Simulator I would think could be great for even fairly young kids as an educational experience, and I got good enjoyment from it. Perseverance itself (a full scale replica actually) is touring the country as we speak, if you are close by:

There are movie franchises that have that reliable comfort-food aspect to them, and can be watched repeatedly over many years: Aliens, Matrix, Predator; and occasionally also have spin-off games that are quite good as well. Alien Isolation, AVP, for example. I recall playing the Terminator: Future Shock demo repeatedly back in the day, and being delighted that I could be outside, then enter a door to a building in a relatively seamless manner, and discover a detailed and interesting interior, with multiple floors & objects to examine. That never got old for me, and the basic freedom of movement -- a fully 3D engine!! -- along with good audio soundtrack, just brought back the environment from the movie franchise in a very satisfying manner.

Much of that same feeling is in Terminator: Resistance; the sound and environments are good (do wish there was more texture detail though), shooting with a good variety of guns and throwables is satisfying, there's a straight-forward skill tree to fill out as you go, and....yes! The campaign has a plot! A straight-forward plot, but one that fits in exactly with the franchise; perfect comfort food. Characters have simple dialogue trees and you can ask them their background and about their experiences since the bombs fell, which I got enjoyment out of -- exploring these dialogue trees will have small effects on post-game cut-scenes. There are many call-backs to movie touchstones that will give a chuckle as well. All-in-all I'll give Terminator: Resistance a solid B score, and feel good about spending time with it.

Short and simple VR experience, with a theme of sex and evolution. Did not seem to recognize my xbox gamepad, so I'd suggest that to the developers.
