Negative reviews are due to the recent EAC update which prevents people from using modded clients, but generally it's good for the game. Despite clients having quality of life mods, people would use them maliciously to crash, harass, stalk others.

Don't listen to the negative reviews, game is incredible, but expect queues and limited server selection if you're starting Lost Ark a little later than others. If your friends are on a locked server that sucks, but if servers weren't locked you wouldn't be able to play anyway, you'd be in queue till 2023.

On a side note I think server transfers are in a testing phase in KR, that may come in the future, for now you can still do stuff with your friends cross-server.
