Pros:
Phenomenal soundtrack
Outstanding atmosphere
Incredible boss fights
Great graphics
Combat versatile and fun (during bosses)

Cons:
Outdated camera movement
Outdated character movement
Invisible walls (for a 2024 game? Come on...)
Bad enemy Al
Empty feeling world (still only a few hours in, might improve soon)

Even with all the negatives tho, I'm still having a blast and love just looking at the game cuz it's gorgeous. What are your impressions so far? I figured some here may be able to educate me on the developers and their stylistic choices for this game.

Tales of Arise: A Beautiful Journey with Sore Points (Review)
Just finished my adventure through Dahna and Rena in Tales of Arise, and here's the honest scoop:

Stunning Scenery, Stellar Combat: The world is gorgeous, with vibrant landscapes and detailed character designs. The combat system is fantastic – fast-paced, strategic, and full of flashy attacks. It's a joy to battle enemies!

Unlikely Heroes on a Big Quest: You play as Alphen and Shionne, two people from opposing worlds who team up to fight against a tyrannical empire. Their bond is a highlight, even if the overall story can be a bit predictable at times.

More Than Just Button Mashing: Combat requires strategy! You gotta exploit enemy weaknesses, use your party members' unique skills, and dodge attacks at the right moment. Mastering it feels very rewarding.

A Few Rough Patches: The story can feel slow in the beginning, and some skits (funny in-between scenes) might miss the mark. Also, the technical aspects like lip syncing can be a bit wonky at times.

Overall Verdict:
Tales of Arise is a beautiful and action-packed JRPG with a great combat system and a heartwarming story about friendship and overcoming oppression. Just be prepared for a slow start, some uneven storytelling moments, and a few technical hiccups. But the gorgeous visuals, fantastic combat, and charming characters make it a worthwhile adventure!

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Hatching a Great Adventure (Review)
Just finished bonding with adorable Monsties and battling giant beasts in Monster Hunter Stories 2, and here's the lowdown:

A Monster-Tastic Adventure: Unlike the main Monster Hunter games, Stories 2 focuses on befriending and riding cool monsters called Monsties. It's a more relaxed and story-driven adventure that's perfect for newcomers or anyone who wants a break from intense hunting.

Befriend the Beasts!: The core gameplay revolves around finding Monster Dens, hatching eggs, and raising your Monsties. You can customize them, fight alongside them, and even ride them across vast landscapes. It's like Pokemon meets Monster Hunter!

Story with Heart: The narrative follows your journey as a monster rider, with a cast of quirky characters and a focus on the bond between riders and Monsties. It's a heartwarming and lighthearted story, perfect for a relaxed playthrough.

More Than Just Monster Buddies: There's still plenty of combat! You'll battle alongside your Monstie in turn-based fights, using strategy and teamwork to take down enemies. It's a fun twist on the classic Monster Hunter formula.

A Few Wiggly Spots: The story can feel a bit predictable at times, and some areas can be grindy if you're trying to level up your Monsties.

Overall Verdict:
Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a charming and fun RPG that offers a unique spin on the Monster Hunter universe. It's perfect for fans of monster collecting games, turn-based combat, and heartwarming stories. Just be prepared for a lighter experience compared to the main Monster Hunter games, and maybe some grinding if you're a completionist.

Great for: Newcomers to Monster Hunter, fans of monster collecting games, relaxed and story-driven adventures
Not ideal for: Players who want the intense hunting action of the main Monster Hunter games

Zup!: Cute Physics Fun in Bite-Sized Bursts (Review)
Just played a bunch of Zup!, and here's the quick scoop:

Simple But Fun: Don't be fooled by the cute graphics! Zup! is a physics-based puzzle game where you gotta get a little blob to the goal. It's easy to learn, but some levels can be tricky!

Achievement Avalanche: This game is practically an achievement factory. Every little thing you do unlocks one, which can be fun for achievement hunters. But...

Maybe a Bit Too Many Achievements?: Honestly, there are SO many achievements that it can feel overwhelming. It kind of takes away from the core gameplay itself.

Short and Sweet: Each level can be completed in a minute or two, making it perfect for quick bursts of play. But with not a ton of levels, it can be over pretty fast.

Overall Verdict:
Zup! is a cute and casual physics puzzler that's fun for short bursts. It's easy to pick up and play, and the achievements are a nice bonus (if not a bit excessive). However, the short length and overwhelming achievements might leave you wanting more.

Good for: A quick pick-me-up, achievement hunters
Not ideal for: People who want a deep and complex puzzle game

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector - A Grimdark Turn-Based Blast! (Review)
Just finished purging the heretics (or getting purged, depending on the match) in Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, and here's the deal:

For the Emperor (or Whoever You Serve!): Command iconic Warhammer 40,000 factions like the Blood Angels or the Sisters of Battle in brutal turn-based battles. It's a great way to experience the grimdark universe without needing a mountain of miniatures.

Tactical Depth, But Not Overly Complex: The combat is challenging but rewarding. You gotta position your troops wisely, use their special abilities, and exploit enemy weaknesses. But it's not so complicated that you'll get bogged down in rules.

More Than Just Shooting: There's a lot of strategy involved. You gotta manage cover, abilities, and momentum to win the day. It's like an epic chess match with chainsaws!

A Faithfully Grim World: The game captures the dark and brutal atmosphere of Warhammer 40,000 perfectly. The environments are suitably gothic and war-torn, and the voice acting is suitably grimdark.

A Few Squiggly Bits: The campaign can be a bit short, and there aren't a ton of factions to choose from at first. Also, the user interface can be a little clunky at times.

Overall Verdict:
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a fantastic turn-based strategy game for fans of the Warhammer universe or anyone who enjoys tactical combat. It's got deep strategy, a great atmosphere, and it's perfect for a quick and brutal battle. Just be prepared for a shorter campaign and a slightly clunky interface, but the core gameplay is a blast!

Plague Tale: Requiem - A Haunting But Beautiful Journey (Review)
Just finished my emotional rollercoaster ride through Plague Tale: Requiem, and here's the breakdown:

A Brutal But Beautiful World: The game takes you through stunning medieval landscapes, but don't let the beauty fool you. The plague is ever-present, creating a dark and dangerous atmosphere.

Following Amicia and Hugo: You play as Amicia, protecting her younger brother Hugo who has a mysterious connection to the plague rats. Their bond is the heart of the story, and it can be both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

More Than Just Running: Sure, there's some sneaking around and avoiding giant swarms of rats, but there's also crafting, puzzles to solve, and even some light combat. It keeps things interesting.

Get Ready for Feels: This game doesn't shy away from tough themes and emotional moments. Be prepared to shed a tear or two (or ten).

A Few Nits: The story can feel a bit slow at times, and the enemy AI isn't always the brightest. But the atmosphere and story more than make up for it.

Overall Verdict:
If you're looking for a beautiful but deeply emotional adventure game, Plague Tale: Requiem is a must-play. Just be prepared for a dark and intense story with some heart-wrenching moments. But the bond between Amicia and Hugo, and the stunning environments, make it a truly unforgettable experience. Grab some tissues and get ready for the feels!

Miasma Chronicles: A Challenging but Rewarding Post-Apocalyptic Adventure
Just finished my trek through the wastelands of Miasma Chronicles, and here's the honest scoop:

Brutal Beauty: The world is a hauntingly beautiful mix of overgrown ruins and dangerous environments. It creates a great atmosphere, but be prepared for some tough choices and tense encounters.

Tactical Turn-Based Battles: Combat is all about strategy! You gotta position your characters wisely, use their unique abilities, and exploit enemy weaknesses. It's challenging, but mastering it feels very rewarding.

More Than Just Shooting: There's a surprising amount of stealth mechanics involved. You can sneak past enemies, set traps, and use the environment to your advantage. It adds a nice layer of depth to the gameplay.

Not for the Faint of Heart: This game is HARD. Enemies can be brutal, and mistakes are punished severely. But if you like a challenge and enjoy the feeling of overcoming it, Miasma Chronicles will be right up your alley.

A Few Quirks: The story can feel a bit generic at times, and the humor might not land for everyone. Also, some of the missions outside the main story can be a bit repetitive.

Overall Verdict:
If you're looking for a deep, strategic, and challenging post-apocalyptic adventure, Miasma Chronicles is worth checking out. Just be prepared for some tough battles, some silly jokes, and a world that won't hold your hand. But if you can conquer the wasteland, the sense of accomplishment is fantastic!

Last Epoch: A Blast Before the Harbingers (Pre-1.1 Review)
Just wrapped up my adventures in Last Epoch before the Harbingers of Ruin update. Here's the lowdown:

ARPG Goodness: Last Epoch is a ton of fun for fans of action RPGs. It's got that classic loot-grinding vibe with a fresh coat of paint, and it feels great to mow down enemies!

Dream Team Creation: The character customization is amazing. Pick your class, then specialize it further with tons of skills and gear options. Think fire-slinging mage, lightning-wielding warrior, or a sneaky archer who lays down poison traps – the possibilities are endless!

Timey-Wimey Twist: The story takes you across different eras, from a classic fantasy world to something more futuristic. It's a cool change of pace that keeps things interesting.

Not Quite the Full Package (Yet): It's important to remember I played before the 1.1 update. Back then, the game felt like it was still building its content.

Still Worth a Shot?:
Absolutely! Last Epoch has a fantastic foundation with its character building, combat, and unique time travel setting. Even before the Harbingers of Ruin update, it was a lot of fun. Just be aware that there might have been less content and features compared to the current version. But hey, that just means there's even more to discover now!

Knights of Honor 2: Rule the Medieval World (Mostly!)
Just finished conquering (or trying to conquer) Europe in Knights of Honor 2, and here's my take:

Be the King (or Queen!): Lead your favorite medieval kingdom to glory! Manage your lands, raise armies, and forge alliances (or crush your enemies!).
More Than Just Battles: It's not all about fighting. You'll also manage your economy, keep your people happy, and deal with sneaky spies and assassins. It's a lot to juggle!
Beautiful Medieval World: Explore a gorgeous map of Europe, with different regions and climates. It's cool to see your kingdom grow and change over time.
A Bit of a Learning Curve: There's a lot going on in this game, so it can be overwhelming at first. Don't be afraid to experiment and learn as you go.

Sometimes Repetitive: After a while, some of the battles and tasks can feel a bit repetitive. But there's still plenty to keep you busy, especially with all the different kingdoms to play as.

Overall:
Knights of Honor 2 is a deep and engaging strategy game for medieval history buffs. It's challenging but rewarding, and there's a ton of content to explore. Just be prepared to invest some time learning the ropes, and you might get stuck in a loop of battles every now and then. But if you're looking for a rich medieval strategy experience, this is a great choice!

It Takes Two: Co-oping My Way to Fun! (Friend Pass Review)
Just finished an awesome adventure in It Takes Two, thanks to the friend pass system! Here's the scoop:

Strictly Two Players: This game isn't for solo adventurers! You gotta grab a friend (or convince someone to try the friend pass) for a hilarious co-op experience.

Wild and Wacky Gameplay: Every level throws new challenges and mechanics your way. One minute you're piloting a giant pencil, the next you're swinging from nails or casting spells! It keeps things fresh and exciting.

Story of a Split-Up Couple: The game's about a married couple on the brink of divorce, turned into dolls by a magic spell. It's a sweet story about teamwork and communication, wrapped in crazy gameplay. (Maybe don't play this with your ex though!)

Communication is Key!: You and your friend will need to work together to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and basically not fall off cliffs. Talking it out and coordinating your moves is half the fun!

A Few Nitpicks: Sometimes the controls can be a bit clunky, and the story might feel a bit cheesy at times. But the fun gameplay and laughs definitely outweigh these minor bumps.

Overall Verdict:
If you're looking for a fantastic co-op experience to play with a friend, It Takes Two is a must-try! It's hilarious, creative, and full of surprises. Just be prepared for some teamwork challenges (and maybe some friendly competition!). Totally worth checking out with the friend pass!
