Just play the game with Daikatana 1.3 source port, disable sidekicks, enable unlimited saves; the difference is day and night.

A must have package which includes The Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Doom II: Thy Flesh Consumed, Doom 3 (BFG), Doom 3 (BFG): Resurrection of Evil, Doom 3 (BFG): The Lost Mission. If you feel uncomfortable with Doom 3's lack of lightning, that's to go version for you. Linux and Mac users (as well as Windows users) should use Robert Beckebans' native RBDOOM-3-BFG source port to play the games; Linux users shall simply download the game via Steam Play, then apply the source port.

Such a great and exceptional Half-Life 2 mod. A must play. Quite a well thought level design. To play the mod natively on Linux check following page:

It's all right. If you loved Quake 2 and lusting for more, definitely go for it. Unlike Quake 2: Zaero and Quake 2: Ground Zero, It doesn't have expansive levels but difficulty level is sane and player isn't insulted with constant sentry turrets. A nice addition, nothing more.

Don't bother to play the ancient version that Steam serves; instead play it via a proper source port like Yamagi Quake II.

I've never thought I would end up not suggesting a Quake game but here we are... I have lot to say about this expansion but I am so exhausted by its silly issue, I'm fed up with it. It took me such a long time to finish it not because it's hard, it rather pushed me away every session I attempt to play it. Its map design actually is quite cool, Rogue Entertainment obviously tried hard to make big, complicated maps with many entrances, exists, paths. BUT, from the 1/3 of the game, the player kept being bombarded by sentry turrets, over and over and over... I am still astonished by amount of sentry turret for no good reason; this is not a short expansion pack even for its day, I just cannot comprehend the artificial and unfair challenges the player is forced into...

If you want more Quake 2? Keep away from Ground Zero; there are countless SP mods, just pick one of them; I find Quake II: Zaero quite cool for example.

Oh, lastly; don't bother to play the game with vanilla release. Get a modern source port to have modern features like high resolution, wide screen, 64 bit, music support, etc...

A game from Turkey with Ancient Greek history and mythology. Quite an interesting and fitting mix. The developer should consider native Linux and macOS support.

Arguably the best arena shooter of all times. Pretty much every aspect of a great arena shooter is there;

  • Well balanced and interesting weapons
  • Fast and slick character movements
  • Great maps with nice themes and lightning
  • Countless fan made maps and mods
  • Vehicle combat which was made by Psyonix, developers of Rocket League
  • Runs fine on pretty much any computer on the planet

Here is the big plus for Linux and macOS users; the game can be patched to run natively on those operating systems. Download the game via Proton or WINE and then apply native patch; you have native version!

Such a classic must play from 90s! Though, as of December 2018, both Steam and GOG releases are just DOSBox ports which clearly didn't age well. Therefore, I strongly recommend playing it via unofficial engine pre-implementation BloodGDX which supports modern OSs (Windows 7/8.1/10, Linux, macOS), modern resolutions, native mouse look, mods, 64 bit architecture and many more features.

Linux users: If you downloaded Blood via Steam Play/Proton, make sure game path in BloodGDX is selected correctly as

Quite an interesting team based objective focused FPS/RTS hybrid. Just like Natural Selection and Natural Selection 2, each team has a commander who plays the game as RTS, provides supplies, builds structures and gives orders to rest of the team. Most of the maps take place in partially ruined urban environments which is cool. Two teams try to take as much as resource points to earn resource and built structures. The game runs on Source engine; considering that the game support both Windows, Linux and macOS; it's probably 2013 branch of Source Engine. The game uses Steam API for multiplayer that allows game servers to be listed on Steam client's server browser; convenient. Here is an external list of game servers which are populated in the evenings and weekends.

The best Wolfenstein game ever made, period. Instead hassling with outdated vanilla client, use game assets with iortcw source port which is cross-platform.
