My god.

This has been, perhaps, one of my most vivid and exhilarating gaming experiences ever. Nay, perhaps the most exhilarating experiences of my life.

All in only 27 minutes. Spoilers ahead, in case you want to endure the hardships of becoming the king.

I started out, fresh to the world that awaited me. Loading the game, I was greeted by a lavish menu while birds chirped around the green space that I would become all too familiar with for the next 27 minutes. Once I had launched into the online mode (for it was true that I wanted the glory and the sweet success of being crowned king of this strange and yet oddly beautiful land), I began to pull the sword.

In those first few minutes, I had no expectation of what to expect. Of course, I had heard of the ancient tales of King Arthur and the famed Excalibur, and much like him I was wishing to pull out this great sword. However, it became clear to me that, at the mouse sensitivity I was at, it would be impossible to pull such a sword out, unless I waited for years. Therefore, I turned my sensitivity all the way up to the maximum possible value - 900%. Ah, now it was far easier! I could even see the blade slowly shift upwards. A piece of cake.

And a piece of cake it was not. I struggled many times over and over, my hand just slipping off of my mouse, the cursor flinging off the screen and the sword returning to its dormant state. Many attempts made me delirious with the glory of the Crown.... I was infuriated by the lack of progress and the constant slips of my hand. I was to get no-where, yet I had to try. I knew that all great men and women, both of old and of the modern era, have achieved fame and glory once they kept trying. A scene from the acclaimed movie 'Whiplash' came to mind - J.K. Simmons' deep, authoratative voice told me about the story of Charlie Parker, once unable to even play well, becoming one of the 20th century's greatest Jazz musicians.

With this story in mind, I kept persevering. Every time the sword fell back down, I felt pain and misery and suffering to such an extent which I have never felt before. At some point, I broke down. There was no direction to this. I kept repeating to myself, "Quit, quit, while your sanity is still partially intact." I ended up alt-tabbed, and a particular guide came to my attention. Thank you, whoever had the intelligence to find out, but if you use a controller and set it up through the Steam settings, you could easily pull the sword out in under a minute.

Overjoyed, I rammed the controller into the socket and configured it. I returned to the game and clicked on the sword, hand on joystick, with a sudden euphoria come upon me.

This was it.

I began to pull the sword out, my hand shaking not one bit, until the music started playing. The melody and harmonies floated in my ears like the bird-song at the beginning, a chorus of angels encouraging and admiring me. Perfect cadences resolved as the blade grew ever larger, ascending towards the heavens as new textures were added to the chorus. First a church organ, and then a harpsichord, reminiscent of Bach or Handel. Ecstasy climbed down my body as the music grew louder and the blade higher.

Then, finally, at last, the blade was out. Such toils I had spent many minutes upon were finally over. Turning around, I was lifted towards my apparent kingdom. The peasants had lined the streets, admiring my presence, while the nobility and gentry looked upon me from their balconies. Reaching the steps of the castle, I was made king by the previous monarch, and then, in horror, I saw as he was decapitated by executioners. Was this the same fate to befall me? Alas, I knew my reign would be short, but the glory would last forever.

Entering the castle, I saw my profile picture hung up as I became married to a woman I had never seen before. Soon I was led upstairs and i jumped into the crowd of my people, surfing as the credits rolled. Finally, the game was over.

I checked to see the current kings. Yes, I was expecting to see Phil Dunphy Gaming coronated, the most recent king. But I saw nothing.

I alt-tabbed for the last time and checked my internet connection.

It had cut out.

Despair flooded me, and I could not hold my pain. I felt it like I had felt it many minutes ago. I couldn't even bare looking at the screen. Slowly, I began coming to terms with it. Maybe it was for the better? I would never be executed as the poor bastard before me had. Perhaps I was saved from such a fate? I sat down on my chair, dumbfounded at this small yet wonderful experience.

Anyway, pretty good game. I recommend.

Quite a fun game, despite not having that much gameplay the story is great, and the characters are well thought out, especially Connor. Some chapters in the middle of the game can get a bit tedious or drawn out but other than that it's well paced. Took about 12 hours for me to complete the story, so I would recommend getting it on sale.

The graphics are fantastic, and controls on controller are pretty good too. Alongside the main game, you get extras like the gallery where you can see the different npc/character models.

It isn't very well optimised however, and I've heard there are problems on nvidia gpus, and even of your hardware meets the recommended requirements it still might not run well.

Overall, I do recommend, probably at 8/10. Only let down by performance issues and some mediocre parts of the story.

Quite fun, but very hard. Especially Greece and Wales for me. Take it slow to begin with, speeding ahead will get you bashed into a tree. Recommended for those with an interest in more challenging automobile games.

Requires a lot of experience and effort to be able to master this game. Even I haven't mastered it. Please stick to the rifleman class if you are new, it is annoying for more experienced players to not be able to play sl or tl due to new players accidentally calling arty on spawn

Not bad, not a great hitman style game but quite good in terms of new gameplay and such. Unfortunately it doesn't stay true to its predecessor, going for a story based game experience.
