This is my first game review in my 14 years of Steam history, mainly because of some of the negative reviews of this game.

I think the thing people need to understand is that this game, as well as the original Senua's Sacrifice, is an interactive story and a work of art, rather than a "game". In this role, it excels like its predecessor.

If you're looking for a game mainly for the "gameplay", you'll be disappointed. That's not to say the gameplay is bad, it's just nothing special. The game is completely linear, the combat looks better and more cinematic with the new animations and different enemies, but is actually even more simple and repetitive in its mechanics than the previous game. There's a lot of walking, and the puzzles are "ok" and sometimes a bit tedious.

However, the story, Melinda's acting, the atmosphere, the design and art, the sound, the animation, and the visuals are all top notch and EXTREMELY polished. If you loved the original game for these things, you'll love this one. The combat and puzzles are just there as a bit of a breakup of the and respite for the story.

Senua's Sacrifice didn't really need a sequel. The story was well rounded and concluded, and it was hard to imagine what kind of sequel would make sense. Well, this one in the end did make sense, is more gorgeous, features more characters, and while the story is in my opinion not exactly AS amazing as in the previous game, it comes pretty close.

Is it worth the full price? That's a question I cannot answer. The work this studio has done on these two unique games is truly outstanding, and I wanted to pay the full price. Having now completed it, it was worth it to me.
