One of the games I replay from time to time, just because it's so much fun. Nuff said.

Ich mag es, zufällig Leute anzuhalten und sie zu fragen, ob das Haltbarkeitsdatum ihres Verbandskastens abgelaufen ist.

A Breakout clone, as stylish as it might be, should be hard because of the compellig level design. Not because you often cannot distinguish different heights, or because the physics plays bonkers on the blocks, or because it's just unfair. The rage quit potential might be fun for some, not for me unfortunately.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Light. Although I like the stealth mechanics, the music and the style, the list of negative points is just too big - even if you ignore the price (as nowadays you can get nearly any game on a discount sooner or later; I got this game when it was 75% off, for example):

  • The gameplay should be much more diverse. While I am not saying there should be lots of gimmicks for the player, I feel that not even the hacking mechanics was explored enough.
  • As soon as a level is a bit bigger it becomes more confusing than interesting. Bigger levels are also bad for the hacking mechanics, as it zooms to other parts of the level and this can get annoying.
  • The game has a lot of glitches. The guards can see through walls rarely but noticable. Even more annoying are the big leaps I got from time to time - from one moment to the other my character warped several meters forward, often landing in the visible cone of a camera or guard.
  • The story began interesting even though a bit cliché-ridden. I can't even tell exactly how the story progressed, as it became boring pretty soon, unfortunately.
  • The game is very short. This was mentioned a lot already, but generally I would not put that on a list of negatives. But I did play Light in a "harder" mode, where I tried not to get seen and not to kill anybody. This was somewhat satisfying and made the game longer than the usual 45 minutes (see my play time) - still the game was just too short, and the number of missions much too small.
  • The second-to-last mission, which seems to be the game's climax, forces you to kill someone even if you took care not to use violence throughout the game.
  • The developers promised more levels, but never delivered them, without any explanations.

So while I enjoyed some parts of the game, I just cannot recommend it, as in it's current state is just wasted potential.

NEON STRUCT is a great game in my opinion. As I love Deus Ex, Thief and System Shock 2 I felt right at home.

I really recommend playing the game as a real stealth game, where you try to not get seen. This way it's a bigger challenge and more fun.

The game might seem a bit too minimalistic for some, but that's just a matter of taste.

Schöner, launemachender Platformer, der durch die vielen verschiedenen Charaktere mit unterschiedlichen Eigenschaften sehr abwechslungsreich ist.

I'm not an avid player of simulators, but I like trying out different genres from time to time. ETS 2 is very well done, so much I can say.
My first mission was a matter of 30m drive, and I can tell that I would murder more than one person if I'd have to sit behind the steering wheel of a truck.

We played it with four players and it was just chaotic in a negative way. We got stuck a lot and the fighting wasn't any fun. Dunno, perhaps it will become better some day.

I really like this game, inspite of it being a quite linear RPG, which I normally hate. Driftmoon has very good balancing, some good humor and story, and a nice pacing.

The game isn't for everyone, and that's okay.

I cannot recomment Thief, because despite having completed it, I just didn't enjoy it. I guess you can have some fun with it if you don't try to beat it in the Master difficulty like I did; but as a fan of the first two games I thought it to be lame to go around and knock every guard down, so I didn't kill anybody and knocked them only down when I had to. This might be the mistake of mine, as it made the game frustrating.
additionally, the game has a confusing and not very interesting story (told in bad looking and even worse acted cutscenes), and collecting loot never feels very rewarding. The City looks extremely poor, so it just feels wrong to actually steal something. you do something for someone, but you do not feel connected to anybody.
I don't remember any diverse settings, only the poor city with its houses, catacombs, sewers and ruins - all in the same colours and very low in contrast. I miss the interesting places from Thief 1 and 2, like Constantine's House, The Lost City, The Bank and so on. I miss the Keepers and Hammerites and Mechanists and the aristocrats and even the Pagans, the guards and the zombies and the robots. All this stuff is lost, and was replaced in this installment with characters who are all forgettable and cliché-ridden, and with super-zombies with flashlight eyes. And I really miss the non-linear level design.
Oh, of course, you get The City to roam in. But that doesn't make much sense, as you constantly see the same places and streets, and you really wish they would just make one or two levels more instead of a big "open world" city. It just feels too much, without adding any fun to the gameplay. (This was already a downer for me in Thief 3.) I need interesting missions, not a big post-apocalyptic city where I feel constantly lost.
And don't get me started that you cannot jump anytime. Instead you get "the swoop". This might work if it was balanced perfectly, but it wasn't. A lot of time I died in the game because Garrett felt it was much more fun to climb onto a crate, into the bright light, instead of swooping into the shadow, because both actions are lying on the same damn key. Who thought of something like that?!
And man, why did they add boss fights? This is extremely superfluous in a game like Thief.

Overall, I just can't recomment it, from my own experiences. May others have fun with it, I was constantly annoyed by Thief 4, and wish they never had created it.
