Amazing game. Another gem in a long list of my treasured hidden gems. Charming NPCs and monsters, pleasant voxel environments, and some very challenging bosses. As someone who just finished Sekiro with the hardcore mod, even I was having trouble with some of the bosses. Those of you who are very familiar with Souls games (the god-king franchise for difficult bosses) will notice an abundance of attention to detail not seen in many games. Bosses will predict your movement to degrees where you actually have to fake out an AI, compared to most games (especially games with such a small dev team) where ranged enemies are as simple as strafing left and right. In this game the AI is perfectly aware of where you will be at the end of a dash or a jump and will modulate its speed accordingly and if you do not fake out your movement they will hit you. Every boss had something about goofy them that made them stick in my head, another staple of the Souls games. Examples included A crab using giant doors as weapons, a gliding lizard that does divebombs and jetplane maneuvers, a boa constrictor that uses its body as an arena which slowly shrinks and traps you in as you progress the fight, and last but not least, an adorable giant rat.
Needless to say this game has a lot of wit, and plays astonishingly well considering it was just released and (again) by such a small dev team. If you like fast paced games that challenge you, while also wanting a little bit of rugged quirkiness in the world of the game, I would definitely give this game a shot.
