Absolutely fantastic little bullet hell game from a team of student devs.
Saw this ran at GDQ and just had to play it myself.

When it's not having severe frame drops (as low as 10 for me at one point) or freezing up and forcing me to restart, its geniunely beautiful.
Relaxing too, there's no combat, no death, just you exploring a surprisingly big world and climbing so many bloody things for those pesky chums, even if they are adorable.

Don't give these bigotry enabling devs any money, there are better ways to play tabletop games without endorsing narrow-minded views like this.

Calling it a shaRkPG was a very good call by the publishers, as this has all the grinding and backtracking that every RPG falls victim to.
That's not to say its a bad game though, as while the story is incredibly barebones, and even barer in the DLC, the gameplay loop can be very addictive.
There's just something about devouring copious amounts of fish and humans and watching your shark grow bigger and stronger that just hits right.
However the game is not without performance issues, as I had 3 crashes during my time with it, all occurring whenever there was a large amount of humans on screen. Not to mention smaller issues like attacks simply clipping through enemies or the AI being so clunky it would manage to wedge itself into a wall where I could then cheese it.
I wonder, if the option to play as different species of sharks or perhaps a randomiser/roguelike mode would possibly add a replayability factor to it.
The DLC could have added more to the story and gone truly off the rails with the conspiracy theory arc it kept dangling in front of me but it just never went anywhere, instead culminating in a final boss fight who, of course, summons minions to do his dirty work for him while he heals like a coward.
Overall, the 14 and a half hours I played didn't feel like my time was being wasted so I have no issues recommending it.
Oh and get the DLC on sale, it's not worth the full price!

I absolutely love just how charming and relaxing it is, the partially submerged train station in particular really reminds me of that one scene in Spirited Away and I love it for that.

It's quite short but I have absolutely no regrets buying this and wholeheartedly recommend it. I would love the addition of a freeplay mode where I can just play the claw machines for eternity, or maybe a prize system of some sort.

Either way, great little game, get it!

It's a hesitant yes, mainly because for some reason the devs decided to split this into 3 parts spread out over the year instead of just one whole game.
The Cyanide & Happiness humour is there for sure, but Coop himself is not the most interesting character, and the story is depressingly quite short, shorter than you would expect from this genre really.
However the solutions for puzzles are silly but not absurd like older point and click games could get, plus the game offers a helpful riddle for each one as a hint.
I can only hope that part 2 is much longer and has more to do overall.

Painfully short, I require more.
You can see the potential but if you're skilled enough you can beat this in 30 minutes or so, assuming you don't die a bunch like I did at one point. Surprisingly the boss only took me one try though.
I can only hope that we get a full length version of this game one day, as well as including some basics like a skill tree and weapon types.

The game runs like ass at times, one level in particular crashed on me until I did a full reinstall, clunky physics and more really hold this game down at times.
Yet I absolutely enjoyed it when it deigned to actually work for me. The game is so relaxing and while there is an in-game timer for each level, you don't have a time limit and so can take as long as you want.
I do feel that there should have been more variety in tasks, after all you can renovate ceilings and walls but are never required to, I only did those for the achievements personally.
Personally I just want more levels, and maybe a harder mode where you can only use certain materials etc

Incredibly fun and with beautifully charming visuals, Calico places you on a magical island with you taking over your aunt's cafe. Here you bake goods to sell to the other island residents, while also performing tasks for them in return for furniture, recipes, and clothing.
To start with, the rest of the island is blocked off by various obstacles that you work towards unblocking.
You can also adopt animals to occupy the cafe, or take up to 5 along with you to ride or just for extra cuteness.
Calico is not a long game and it might feel a bit sparse at times, but I loved that there's no forced sleeping at night, or worrying about energy levels and all that stuff.
I do hope that future updates add more to do in the cafe, like having to actually work there, rushing between the kitchen and register to keep the customers flowing, thing like that. As it currently is though, I can highly recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing game.
