Definitely recommend, fun game. It's very chill and a pretty unique combination of familiar elements. Unlike XCOM (same devs) the loop is stress-free (but still tactically challenging) and you can take your time, so if the increasing pressure of the XCOM campaign put you off this game, don't let it.

Fun and very chill - what I like the most about the game is that it's less concerned about protecting the sanctity of the leaderboards, and instead lets you play at your own pace - give a level a try, then wonder how to do it better, check out some examples (with cool GIF-like previews of other players' attempts!), and then give it another go. You can absolutely have a look at the most effective bridges and just re-create it if you really want.
Or you can just muck around and try out different approaches.

The leaderboards work super effectively, giving you something to work towards without ever putting up barriers between you and whatever you personally might enjoy out of a game like this.

A nice and chill game!

It's a sort of loose puzzle game that gives you a bit of freedom and lets you piece things together (in regards to the story) yourself. Fantastic art and sound design.

Great so far.

Seems like a modernised old game, not a modern take on an old game, which is an important distinction in this case. For better and worse, it hasn't streamlined the fiddly bits out, which is also kind of the appeal. I love the modern changes XCOM made that have since become standard across tactics games, but it's great to see something try to take a step back. The fiddly old tactics games weren't bad, they were just niche. Mechanics are found here like action point economy, or targeting specific body parts, stuff that used to be par for the course and have since fallen out of vogue.

The mercenaries you control are shallow caricatures, but unique, and their unexpected little interactions throughout the game feel great. Like, one merc asking for more money for therapy because you have someone else on the team that bullies him. Another merc has very strong opinions on a non-playable character who turns out to be a snitch. You're not getting full-on side quests or romance or anything, that's not that focus here, and there's just enough going on that it works.

The encounters so far have been interesting and wild and dynamic. Even though it's turn based, and I can save and restart the mission if it goes horribly wrong, I still feel my heart rate rise as the situation gets hairy. I've had the building my mercs are holed up in get torn apart by bullets, cars exploding left and right, people panicking as I try and figure out how to keep everyone alive, then another squad of enemies shows up. My (permanently) fallen mercenaries are expendable - there's always someone else to hire - but on the other hand, maybe I could just reload the last few turns and try to puzzle it out and keep everyone breathing? It's satisfying either way.

I'm not sure if I'll ever complete the campaign, I rarely complete massive games like this - but what I've played has already scratched an itch that I forgot that I had. If you've enjoyed tactics games like XCOM and wouldn't mind a few extra things to fiddle with on each turn, are interested (or can tolerate) the setting (satirical early 00's war-torn African islands) , or if you've previously enjoyed the tactics games of the 90's like Fallout 1 or X-Com Enemy Unknown - maybe it's worth checking out?

This is the Half Life: Alyx of minigolf.

Absolutely fantastic and super fun with friends - highly recommended VR game.

You barely need any room to play it, and only need one controller, and it's very simple and straightforward to get into, but the physics feel great so it's a blast to play. Hidden golf balls and treasure hunts add a fun social element outside of the minigolf, too.

Extremely good mystery game that lets you feel like a detective.

Despite appearances, it's not a point & click adventure game, and you don't play as any character. Across a number of connected scenarios you are given all of the clues of a murder via a diorama frozen in time, and through careful observation, reconstruct the events.

The puzzles are very logical and smartly designed, often with an 'obvious' answer and then a correct answer that becomes apparent when you dig in to the details.

It took me 6 hours to play through the main scenarios, without hints - I have yet to tackle the DLC but I'm very much looking forward to it.

Laggy and weird, even offline.. enemies kept teleporting. online was a complete mess unless you like being spawn camped right out of the gate by an enemy that teleports due to lag, while you have almost no ammo. AI is completely broken. enemies won't walk through a doorway, and will often do extremely weird things. I only played a couple hours but left the game running a few times. I loved Prey, but this was not enjoyable for me.

Interesting setting and tone, I liked the characters and it felt like there was some interesting ideas to explore, but the format of the game was not enjoyable for me at all, and the implementation felt completely broken. Due to the 'complex' nature of the game's format (it really isn't complex, but they make it feel complex with the overbloated UI) they also need to make the first few hours a directed tutorial to make sure you do the right things at the right times, which can be quite frustrating.

Only play if you enjoy a REALLY slow burn.

The game has a glacial pace, even on the '2x speed' setting, and the slow pace extends past the 'loop' gameplay.

The resource requirements to progress in the town (and unlock new mechanics) are so high that you'll be playing for hours between seeing new mechanics. The 'loop' part of the game has a 2x speed option, but it doesn't speed up the combat scenes, which is what you'll mostly be staring at. I played for a long time but I feel like I should have seen far more of what the game has to offer.

The core idea is really original and cool. It's like a tower defence game where the goal is to let the moving thing through instead of stopping it. I'm sure if I could just have everything unlocked I'd enjoy it a lot more just trying to get further in the loops and exploring all of the tiles and mechanics. Maybe it gets really fun at the 15 hour mark or something, but as it stands it's just too frustratingly slow for me. I tried giving it a decent go, and I was enjoying some of the time I spent, but every time a loop ended and I didn't unlock anything new I just felt like I'd wasted my time.

The art is absolutely fantastic though. It's got an -amazing- mood to it.

Very fun, short and sweet campaign, runs super well. I'd love to see more games take a page from Titanfall 2's book.
