Note: You don't need to be a bunnyhopping pro to play this, since the game makes it easier to do.

The game has a very cartoonish style in all things, including sound effects, dialogue, and textures. Blood is replaced with flowers, dead bodies show comedic black X's over the eyes instead of anything more violent, and the weapons are absurdly innocent-looking. It doesn't make the game "kid friendly" but if you're a fan of cartoonish violence it's pretty amusing, and feels familiar to other mods and shenanigans for Half Life and its sequel (anyone remember Toon Run on Sven Coop?)

The game so far does seem to require you to know a little about the source engine, though. While repeated bunnyhopping is made simpler since you only have to hold spacebar to bhop, you still need to understand how to use that to build up speed and hit ramps the right way to get a good distance. Fall damage seems to be disabled entirely (from what I could tell) although falling into the void still kills you as expected. You also need to understand how source engine ladders work at one point (crawling on walls and ceilings, jumping to push off a ladder to grab another, etc).

Weapons are silly and fun. Crowbar is now an absurdly large flower. The crossbow is now your first firearm, with an arrow-like drop to the projectiles that takes some time to get used to (but it's so satisfying to land a hit from a large distance by calculating the drop accurately). Later you get grenades that bounce around much more than what you'd expect, and a playdoh-ish submachine gun. Haven't progressed further to see what else you get.

There are also health upgrades hidden around that add 5 to your max HP as well as fully healing you. A nice incentive for exploring and reaching challenging spots.

My only gripe so far was the dialogue at the beginning. Subtitles give you what they're saying, but the actual noises they make are very grating and irritating to listen to. But once you get out into the real game, enemy NPCs use actual words instead of shrill screeching, so you won't have to suffer through it long.

Fun, silly, cartoonishly violent, and Free. The best of what Source mods have to offer. I recommend at least giving it a try. All you have to lose is your time.

A surprisingly fun game with a lot of issues. Ultimately I choose thumbs down because there's too many problems with it to enjoy reliably, but it has potential to swing back to a thumb up if they fix or improve things going forward.

I wrote a longer and more detailed review earlier before I realized you couldn't review this game. Now that I can... well, I might retype it all up again later, maybe.

A similar yet different beast than RE2R.

Pros:
-Game looks great and feels great to play. RE2R veterans should feel at home, mostly.
- Escape items mechanic has been replaced with a dodge mechanic. Fiddly, but feels good when you do it right.
- An interestingly different, albeit underutilized pursuing enemy. Nemesis is different from the Tyrant (Mr. X) in RE2R. He doesn't wander around and he's a lot faster, meaning you generally have to escape from him or beat him down - either because the game tells you to, or to get optional rewards like gun parts and ammo.
- A reasonably long campaign. Shorter than RE2R considering that there's no "side B" other than doing harder game modes. But it does add more difficulties, harder ones over the initial "hard" mode, if you're into that.

Cons:
- Nemesis is pretty cool at first, but he doesn't really last long. Like him as a cool trenchcoat-wearing pursuer? Better enjoy that while it lasts.
- A nice homage to the RPD from the previous game that is unfortunately rather short. Not that it's unexpected, I believe it's like that in the original game too, but it felt weird seeing it again but with doors that the game never acknowledged as actually being doors at all, rather than being "locked".
- Weird moments here and there when opening a door causes a cutscene to play out that moves you into a new area with no way to return to the previous one. Save often and loot everything you can as you go, or you might find an unexpected cutscene decided to move you to the next area or even the next map with no way to go back.
- Limited costumes. I enjoyed these a lot in RE2R, giving Leon and Claire new looks for playing the game and in cutscenes. So far though there's only preorder costumes and one additional costume for Jill when you beat the game for the first time and unlock it.

Overall: a different flavor than that of RE2R. If you enjoyed the previous game, you'll probably like this one - but it does depend on how you feel about the various changes made, and how much they matter to you. To me, they didn't matter much - I enjoyed my run and will definitely be going back to do a harder run soon.

Seems it's just a vehicle for some oddballs to smugly make fun of Death Stranding with some kind of holier-than-thou attitude, so yeah, that about sums that up.

Not worth your time, even at an astounding $0. It's a joke/meme you could get just from watching the trailer or a youtube video on it, so playing for yourself is unnecessary.

A great RTS with a fun campaign and co-op support, which isn't something you see everyday.

I've been playing the game for about a year or so on iOS. Don't really have much to say on actually judging the game itself, other than to say that it's a pleasantly slow space game with excellent co-operative mechanics (and PvP mechanics, but I'm not especially interested in those). Running red stars with other players and working together to loot artifacts never loses its fun to me, and more so when upgrading to the next tier to get harder stars and new modules.

The PC port so far is excellent. There's plenty of options to get it running at the right screen size and graphical fidelity you wish. I was initially worried it wouldn't run on my old craptop, but with high rendering turned off it's smooth as butter.

The controls are a dream come true, coming from someone who played this on a phone screen. The interface was tiny there, and mistaps were common. On the PC port it does feel like they put in a lot of effort to improve on this - mouse controls, keybind shortcuts for nearly every action... it's so much easier to control now.

There's probably a couple new features I haven't run across as well. One I did notice is that if you right-click-drag with the mouse on a ship to choose a waypoint for it, you'll see how long it would take to travel there and how much hydro it costs without having to let go. Before that, you'd have to choose a waypoint, note the info, then cancel it before the 10 second delay ends.

All in all, I see myself using this version a LOT when I'm at home. It looks so much better and is so much easier to control. Knowing I can still open it on my phone on the go is great, and knowing the PC playerbase merges with the same playerbase on every other platform right off the bat even more so. It's not a new game or a separate game - just a port of it with improvements to the way it handles that a PC can do better than a smartphone can.

If you play this on mobile - or just find the game itself to seem interesting - I highly recommend giving it a go. It's a very slow paced game, so don't expect rapid progress, but if that doesn't turn you off, I think you'll find something to enjoy here.

A roughly intriguing and engaging storyline wrapped around an equally intriguing character. GTAV may have all the mayhem and humor, but I can't help loving GTAIV more when it comes to telling a story.

Simply put - if you enjoyed The Stanley Parable, it's very likely you'll enjoy this too. Not to mention the idea itself (which is a spoiler-y thing to mention so I won't) is pretty clever in all honesty.

It's a pretty short title, which might put off some people, but it's free and I enjoyed almost every moment of it, so I highly consider it worth the time if you're curious about it. If only moderately curious, maybe watch someone's Youtube video of it or something.

At the very least, this title ensures I'll keep an eye out for anything else this studio puts out in the future.

Despite the updated look of the game (shadows, lighting, etc) being its main point of intrigue, my principal interest was the community commentary - and while I'm only partway in, it's already quite enjoyable to explore and listen to. The various commentators read their parts well, with subtitles to go along with them, placed along the levels to bring insight and information to things you'll either remember from your previous playthroughs of the game or things you never noticed before. If you're interested in the Half-Life lore or the development of the game, I'd recommend this Update just for the commentary alone. The updated engine tweaks like lighting, fog, and bugfixes are a great cherry on the top too. Plus it's free - all you need to have is Half-Life 2 on your account, and if you don't, you're probably not going to be interested in this Update anyway.
