Total cyberpunk happiness

I've played the living crap out of this game, and so obviously I'm going to recommend it.
Here are some of the things I like about it.

* Humor

* Great turn-based combat

* Produced by the man who started the post-apocalyptic game genre

* Excellent story with lots of choices
* Interesting characters to meet and join up with
* Villains who have real depth

* Awesome sounds
* Voice acting
* Music
* Guns
* Explosions
* Metal creaking
* Wind blowing
* Not the goats though. God no.

* Tons of crap to discover
* Sick ass weapons
* Rocket launchers
* Explosives
* Nostalgic junk with a humorous backstory

* Several great walkthroughs available online

I'm not really doing it justice, but trust me it f'n rocks.

Shortly after you beat the Christmas guy there's a part where you have to fight a bunch of invisible guys in a pit.
Up until that point I was enjoying it. Then it became impossible and so I can't recommend it.

It seems like it should be fun but...I just don't get it

I normally hate grinding. So much so that I will not play a game that requires it.
Therefore it came as a pleasant surprise when leveling crew members up in this game was actually fun.
The best way to do it is in a grindy fashion:
1. Find a fight
2. Comms officer start Performance Review
3. Switch Comms officer to gunner
4. Gunners do their boosts, etc
5. Captain sets course to attack

The game gives you a pretty wide choice of missions, and lets you repeat them, so you can keep leveling those crew members.
The game mechanics are such that doing this isn't boring. Unless you're one of those insufferable internet people with insane expectations.

It's my favorite Fallout, and I've been playing them since 1997.
The power armor mechanic is amazing, since you actually step into it and drive it around, rather than hook pieces onto your body.
Fighting a deathclaw while in power armor is one of the best experiences I've had in a video game.

I first played this game many years ago and hated it. I recently thought why not give it another chance, it can't be that bad. Turns out it isn't as bad as I remember, but the humor (not humour) is very dumb and the hero comes across as a total jackass. Though I guess that's the point. In any case it's worth it because it also contains the original 3 Bard's Tale games, which I loved playing on my C64 back in the '80s.

When Steam said "You've played for 510 hours" and asked if I would recommend this game I thought "Ehhh, I'm still on the fence, I should wait until I get to 600 hours".
But after giving it a lot of thought, I've decided to go ahead and recommend this game.

This is a separate game from Skyrim. Yes, it uses a lot of the same assets, but it is absolutely not an Elder Scrolls game.
The people involved in making this mod should get some kind of award. It takes the base game engine and makes a completely new world.
They have crafted a whole new lore background, which is no small feat.
Then there's the leveling system, which has been completely revamped. In Enderal the player has a lot more freedom to craft their character.
I like the skillbook system, which has characters buying skill books to level up their chosen skills. It gives in-game money more value, and makes the choosing of skills more granular.
I also like that the NPCs act like real people (and often talk like them, aka "SAYING BAD WORDS").
Finally, the biggest reason I like this game is that it has deep plot/story lines. Many of the characters are concerned with very heavy issues, and as the player you get involved in that.

The thing I love most about this game is the atmosphere. They really captured the cyberpunk (ala Blade Runner) look, feel, and sound. It's quite immersive.
There is a lot of good humor scattered around, such as references to Hitchhiker's Guide as well as the usual cyberpunk works.
The controls took a little getting used to for me, I don't play much with a controller. But once I got the hang of them it was quite intuitive.
Story and length-wise, it's not particularly deep or intricate, but very engaging and entertaining. It always kept me coming back for more.
I really hope there will be a sequel!
