Assuming this is a technical demo of the game being ported to a modern engine, and they're showing off that core systems are literally working and things are moving along? It's okay, it's nice to see it all exist. However this "remaster" has a LONG way to go before even reaching parity with the original FATE. Nearly all sound effects seem to be reused directly from the original. Compared to the original, it felt like I was getting almost no loot drops and there were almost no destructables in the dungeon.

Not happy about the UI design. Like the vast majority of modern game releases, this "remaster" seems to be going the route of lazy, uninspired UI design, a huge step backwards from the original FATE which had a UI full of character and charm. I saw another review speculate that the textures might be AI upscaled, and I'd believe it. The player character looks downright cursed. And a 12 minute demo timer.... what?? It's almost like they don't want you interacting with the game for an extended period of time, I assume because if you do, you'll notice more and more glaring flaws. I'm also not 100% sure on this, but, even though the game ran at a smooth 144fps for me, animations seem to be limited to a lower framerate? It's extremely odd.

I really hope these issues are fleshed out before the official release of the game. In its current state, it's a hard pass, I'll stick with the original FATE.

Managed to get through to the game's ending without needing a guide. As long as you're patient and willing to spend a little time on one you're stuck on trying all sorts of different things, you should be okay. Took ~2.4 hours of play, some of the puzzles are sneaky!

This game apparently has some "true ending" stuff going on that... I did look up a guide for. I dunno how anybody who isn't EXTREMELY tech savvy is supposed to figure it out, but I guess those are the people it's there for! For those that want to try the secret ending puzzle without spoiling the whole thing in a guide like I did, I will give one hint for you to get the ball rolling: Start by looking in the game's install directory

Wasted Potential: The Game

I have now completely lost all faith that the people tasked with maintaining and developing this game after release are capable of bringing it into better light. It's become abundantly clear that the overwhelming majority of them do not play the game and have no interest in doing so. They would much rather play the role of petty dungeon master and punish players for having the wrong kind of fun. You are only allowed to have fun if it is within THEIR SCOPE of you having fun.

Every update has been one step forward, two steps back. I still firmly stand by the launch version of this game being the best iteration of it that has ever existed. It was looking like a couple months ago that MAYBE they had learned something, and were slowing down to approach updates and changes with more tact. Then they try to hype up this big August update, and.... it's nothing! Enemies get a big power spike, meanwhile our equipment balance is still being nitpicked purely because of numbers on a spreadsheet. The most egregious things on the Known Issues list continue to go by unfixed, meanwhile that list continues to get longer and longer.

And then they have the audacity to put out an "update explanation" post that doesn't address even a single concern that their community has with the recent update, even going so far as including this little gaslighting statement: "We believe that a game thrives when it evolves alongside its player base, and your ideas and suggestions are a critical component of that evolution.." We've BEEN trying to communicate this stuff to you Arrowhead! You aren't listening, and at this point, I believe you never even had the intention of listening to us at all.

This little program is magic. There's some quirks to understand about getting good results from this, but once you figure it out, oh boy.... Frame generation (and upscaling if you need it) applicable to just about anything. Getting some extra frames on old hardware, getting a higher framerate on old/emulated frame locked games, the possibilities are endless! Frame generation won't look good on EVERY game, and usage of upscalers and frame gen will add visual artifacts, but when it works well, it's pure magic.

On the surface, this looks like it'd be just a silly/memey game, but it's actually extremely fun and feels great to play. Crab champions has scaling items like in risk of rain, wacky item synergies like those found in the binding of isaac, and a taste of the difficulty of nuclear throne. It's a blast!

Neon White is an amazing casual speedrunning FPS platformer. It feels great to play and the music absolutely slaps. Pick up this gem and give it a try, we need more times on the leaderboards!

This is hands down one of the best party games that has ever existed. If you game with a group 2-8 people large and don't have this game, you're doing yourself a mighty disservice.
