this is ok game, not great, not bad. seams very linear in nature. the 4 plus hours i played so far, research is done via quests it seams.
don't know if its the game or my old machine, but its also very laggy. and i have it installed onto my SSD.
though hard to give it a truly negative or positive review due to its EA nature.

its an ok game to play, but atm i don't see raving about it.
if you want to get it, buy it on sale. but over all, i do not recommend it.

I'm thankful for this being gifted to me. and i will still play it. it just wont take up my time like other titles i own do.

need a 2nd monitor just to set it up to run on windows 10.
Game is effectively dead and unplayable without 2nd monitor

so far this has become one of my more favorite games.
I'm loving the combat and building aspects of this game.

Since i got the game two weeks ago I have put in a total of 185 hours. even a friend setup a server for us to play together, and people know I'm not one to do MP very often, in fact I tend to avoid it.
But this game. I'm loving it.

a couple gripes about the game.
Base lag. the game struggles to load it all. and visibly lags the game. i know this is still in Development, so i hope they deal with this soon.

must have Mods.
Craft from containers.
Farm Grid
Unrestricted portals.

Over all, I would recommend this game. I am completely enthralled with it atm.

For some time I have owned this game, played it off an on since I bought it. but with the addition of a story mode a bit ago, I have gotten a lot more interested. I recently took another look into the game. I even got into it playing with my wife. I am not one to play MP games as well.
now lets get into the depth of this game.
what are the pros and cons of this game.

Cons.
1: No character customization. ( for now )
2. Building system and the need for a post every 2 blocks.
3. Repeated islands. ( i know they working on new islands )
4. Islands with obvious missing decoration ( not sure if being worked on or not )
5. Hunger/thirst system degrade to fast
6. Tools degrade to fast
7. Animals clipping thru landmass/building. ( common issue with most video games )
8. When you kill boars or most any animals except sea creature's ( shark ), they can ragdoll underground or shoot off into space. and keep ragdolling even when sitting still. which causes issues with trying to harvest them when they don't shoot off half a mile away or under the map. i lose half my boar kills due to them disappearing underground or shooting off half a mile away. this is my biggest issue with the game atm.
9. Lose everything on death, with no option to try and recover your items.

Pros.

1. its a building game. I love building games.
2. go at your own pace. no need to rush the story line.
3. I love survival games, this defiantly scratches that itch.
4. haphazard painting system really fits in with building with what you got feel.
5. many different start difficulty options
6. the kill system, which is frustrating and rather funny at the same time.
7. a rare time I will say this is fun with friends.

over all I do really enjoy the game. I have only crashed once since as of this post. while my wife has crashed several times, but that's mostly due to her laptop being 11 years old.
game is good on lower spec computers and laptops as well.
I normally play on easy setting after doing a lot on normal setting. but I hate losing all my stuff when I die. so on easy. I still get the survival mode with chance of death, but I don't lose what's in my inventory. I recommend this mode if you don't want to deal with losing your inventory each time you die.

a side part, achievement's.
normally I do not actively go after achievement's. I just play the game and if I get them, then I get them. this time, as I play with my wife, we both work to get them. which makes it rather fun.

so far i'm enjoying the game
its seems to be much better then when it first launched. which is due to Paradox doing something called listing to their players. and i'm thankful for them on that.

it's much easier to understand, though i wish they would give us options to change the UI to something darker than having to rely on a Mod to do it.

even though i am gonna recommend this game. i do recommend you get it when its on sale though. ( i got it for 50% off due to owning most their other titles via the bundle buy option. )
it still has some bugs and i experienced several crashes. with in the first 5 hours.
it also lags when doing autosaves. and it's extremely noticeable compared to their other titles.

so it is a good game, but it still needs work.

You remember long ago a game called Transport Tycoon, then the Deluxe version came out. you remember how many hours you poured into that game?
Well guess what?
you can do so again.
this game is basically a upgraded Transport Tycoon Deluxe.
I been waiting forever for a game like this to come along for newer computers.
and now it is here!
If you loved Transport Tycoon, then you will love this game as well.
10/10 for perfect reproduction of a timeless game
9/10 for the game itself.

you will love this game.
yes it is repetitive, but the game is actually rather fun.
and if you want more realistic physics, cut all of them by half.

so what's good about it?

its slow paced settlement builder.
perfect slow paced game.
though challenging at the start as you have to get the right ratio to survive your second winter.
once you get that down and able to feed yourself. it slowly starts to get better.

if you like god view with a mix of 1st person for events. then this game is what you are looking for.
but do not expect it to go quickly, this game takes time to play out.
unless you hit the fast forward buttons, which i don't.

get it now!! and by teh way, it's much better than the parent game it's modeled after.
way less grind..
LIFYO is nice, but LIFFV is much better in my opinion.

Always fun trying to figure out the best combinations to get that 10/10 score.

Found this on a youtube lets play. and found out it had jsut released to steama s well.
form the let's play i was instantly interested and i love tycoon games. whats even better is this time.. it's in SPACE!!!!!!!

a little about the game play so far.

Pros
its slow. but you have a speed multiplier.
Graphics. are not bad close up, but this game isn't about details of graphics either.
for early access its very playable. and easy to jump into. i haven't even played the tutorial and i was able to get the hang of the game nearly instantly.

Cons.
The UI needs work. as some destinations/routes you set, the letters literally take up too much space.
Can't rename star systems. though this could change.
not really many other issues, so my cons list is rather small.


Overall
i say, buy. its a easy to learn game and rather enjoyable.
