this game absolutely crushed me but i'm glad i played. it was good to go back and see all the characters from the fata morgana series and cry for them ( as well as myself ). not for the fainthearted, despite all the comedy bits.

this is a really nice visual novel. i was pleasantly surprised by the voice acting. it's done well and every character seems well fleshed out and unique on their own. for me elements of a good story mean that i actually get to feel things while i'm playing and this game delivers. it's a nice balance of thought provoking and emotive. if you like VNs ( or even if you don't ) i'd recommend trying this one. good luck getting that achievement tho. it's murder.

i was enjoying this until i encountered what is apparently an unresolved game breaking bug. the only solution is to start over or to use a save the devs provided in 2017 that doesn't even have your past choices logged. so yeah, don't bother buying this unless you're really keen on wasting time and want to frustrate yourself. i think this should honestly be removed from the store since the chances of you encountering the bug are so high and there's still no real fix. it's too late to get my money back and i don't get to know what happens at the end either.

pretty disgusted with cherry mochi as a dev team. i'll be sure to never support them again.

i beat these games years ago but i couldn't resist getting the pc version. it's well worth the time and investment. great story, characters, and soundtrack. i don't think i'll ever get tired of replaying these every few years despite knowing how everything ends. this series is close to my heart and even though the more recent entries kind of lost the magic, the first three are top tier. i'm crossing my fingers that enough people buy this so that we can get apollo justice on our computer screens sooner rather than later.

the only con i can think of is that everything graphic wise has been updated and while sleek and modern looking, i really miss the old gba/ds sprites and fonts. it probably would look terrible if resized to fit bigger screens though so i get why they changed it, but there's was a charm to them previously that i will always miss.

i guess there's always wikis and the online court record archive tho!

it's a blast to revist this game once again on a new platform. it looks as gorgeous as i remember, the soundtrack is amazing, and most importantly it's fun to play. if for some reason you never got to experience this on console i highly recommend picking it up and trying it out for yourself. it's not exactly a difficult game and if you don't like hand holding then this experience will drive you mad but, if you're ready to relax and watch all the colors flow while the story unfolds then this is the game for you.

a few years have passed and i've finally mustered up the courage to review this masterpiece.

reading this touched me in a way that i don't think will ever be repeated by any other form of media. it's a harrowing ride in more ways than one. the subject matter does get dark but, the way that the issues that each character goes through are handled is artful. it cannot be stressed how beautiful of a story this game turned out to be. i was pleasantly surprised to find myself so immersed and invested in the fate of the cast. the beginning is a little slow and there are triggering things throughout that extra sensitive people may want to avoid.

it's best to go in blind and not look up too much info. the twists and turns are worth experiencing without any knowledge of what you're getting into. moyotaro's artwork seems to grow the more you progress and the soundtrack was crafted carefully. every song just adds more to the atmosphere. if you have even a slight interest in reading this then go ahead and dive in. after all is said and done, i've read this and got my heart torn to shreds twice. it was worth every penny and hour silently crying spent.

it's best if you play the original before diving into this. this game gives a nice backstory for anyone who is curious about why things end up they way they do. it's short, to the point, and will give your heart an ache if you found yourself attatched to any of the characters previously.

short but cute adventure game
multiple endings, colorful worlds, chill soundtrack.
a well executed experiment that i won't dare spoil.

i am quite taken with this game. the characters, dialogue, lore, & music mesh together effortlessly to create a really pleasing, immersive experience. gameplay is turn-based and very reminiscent of the famicon / NES era. even during boss-fights it manages to still be soothing and only mildly stress-inducing. strategy is based on enemy stances, preemptive attacks ( during battle - ie: breaking guard, attack, or defense buffs ), and weaknesses memorization.

aesthetically speaking, everything is hand painted and animation is smooth for the most part, though not that abundant. this doesn't take away from how lush & bright the world is, however. the characters are endearing, even more so if you dig fairy tales, and the soundtrack is so good that i alt+tabbed in the middle of playing to buy the OST.

plenty of games try to recall us back to the glory days but this title manages to do so with flying colors while also having charms all it's own. i'm not finished my first playthrough, but i've thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my 9.5 / 20 hours so far.

if you're a fan of the genre or games like child of light or journey then you should definitely pick this up.

it's well worth the gil.

update: ( the older reviews that mention bugs fail to mention that the dev took care of things pretty quickly awhile back. you shouldn't encounter anything hampering now. there are some gameplay quirks i've noticed when i came back to the game but, these things didn't stop me from progressing at all. an actual indie game that was made by two people with no backing by any game company made this so definitely adjust your expectations accordingly. )
