I really enjoyed the original on PS4 and the sequel surpasses the original in every way. The game looks much better and I didn't really appreciate how much better looking it is until I booted up the first game recently and realized it didn't look as crisp and mobs weren't as well detailed as I remembered them being. The different weapons you use were given a huge upgrade in terms of variety and organization. In the last game you primarily used a wand with recharging mana and a staff powered by a different kind of mana that you pick up from defeated enemies. In Ziggurat 2 you still have Wands and Staves, but you also have Spells, like spellbooks that fire ice/fire bolts and many other types, and Alchemy weapons, mostly guns with a fantasy spin like a Dwarven Blunderbuss or a crossbow that fires ice bolts. And with the different weapons there are different mana drops that fuel them.
Add to this a central hub that lets you pick from grinding side mission runs to advancing the game with primary missions plus unlockable characters with different perks, and points that you earn after each run to unlock permanent upgrades from a skill tree and you wind up with a great game with tons of playtime for your dollar. Right now it's my current obsession and you could do a lot worse if you're looking for an entertaining indie game to get lost in. Definitely has that "just one more mission" thing going for it.

I bought the game back in the fall of 2022 for a ridiculously low price so I wasn't expecting much and I was really surprised to find a game with lots of replay value. My recorded time doesn't accurately reflect how much I've played the game (I played it offline a bunch hence only one achievement unlocked) and I'm really happy to see the game receiving so many positive reviews as well as seeing the developers selling the game for a price that properly compensates them for such a well made game that they continue to put work into.

I wouldn't go crazy hyping it up too far but it definitely delivers an immersive environment, has a one-of-a-kind look to it, and the shooting/combat aspect of the game works pretty well even using a controller. It's just marked as Playable and not Verified but I'd say it's a solid game for Steam Deck too, with naming savegames and the game wanting you to use the on-screen keyboard during saving... that whole mess is the only time where playing on the Deck gets a little touchy and non-user friendly. Other than that it's a unique FPS game with a decent single player campaign that's worth completing and its install size is really small so if you're looking for another game to cram on a shrinking Steam Deck card or drive, this would be a good pick.

Still has the outdated load times from the original Half Life. If I had known this from the start I probably wouldn't have purchased this game and would wait for a better reboot/re-release of HL1.

This is my go-to game at home and on Steam Deck. It is phenomenal. It might not have the realism of the FIFA/EA series or the Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven/whatever they are now calling the Konami series, and it might not have the depth of the Football Manager series but it has a heck of a lot going for it. First of all, it's fun, lots of fun, and there is enough depth and enough game modes to keep you coming back. I've played allmost 20 hours worth and I still haven't come close to doing everything the game has to offer. Tournaments are enjoyable and challenging enough to be rewarding when you finally complete each one. Career mode is something that I hope to sink even more time into. And Friendly Matches are a great way to kill 5 to 10 minutes giving the game great value when you want something to pick up and play while being able to put back down if you have limited time, a great coffee break title.

Also one thing this game has going for it that the big name football/soccer titles don't is that you aren't forced to buy the updated version every year. I received my copy for free for owning Pixel Cup Soccer '17, and this version, Ultimate Edition, just received a new Tournament added in December 2023. I wish that other titles I've owned would have had the decency to give copies of their remastered versions that go on to receive updates and fix issues of the original.

Passing and scoring are far more fair and realistic and while I would have been happy to pay for the Ultimate Edition knowing what I know now, it is so refreshing to see a developer that does the right thing and rewards players who were there from the start and who have a great appreciation for their product.

Was expecting something more roguelite-ish, something similar to Steam World Dig 1 & 2, but it's still a fun little Metroidvania. I don't expect a playthrough of more than 10 to 12 hours tops but the game has done a good job of sucking me in and keeping my interest. For the first time in a long time, I'm going to play a game through to the end. That is almost unheard of for me and something I haven't done in ages. I should mention that I did get the game at a very heavy discount from one of those 3rd party sites so this may have influenced my very positive opinion of the game. The current best price for the game is around 25% off and I'm not sure I would feel as good about the buy had I paid that much. Look for a deep sale an if you like cartoony metroidvanias that aren't too too demanding, this may be the game for you.

Owned the game briefly before I returned it, after I came to my senses and realized I'd made a mistake. And no matter how low the price of the main game goes, I won't buy it again. I'm not sure I would even activate it for free if given the chance to do so. Because what you get for the 5 bucks, 7 bucks, Zero, whatever sale price might be, you aren't getting a game, you're getting a bill.
Previous versions of the game gave us 30+ characters, extra modes, value for our money. Well that's all over now.
My favorite character costs extra, Lei WuLong who should have been part of the initial release. When I bought consoles in the past I stuck with Sony because of this series. I played Lei as my main for over 20 years. And now just buying the game isn't enough to get to play him.
The only way companies like Namco and Capcom are ever going to stop nickel and diming us is to stop buying these games.

Great game and an auto-buy for any fans of the Zombie Army or Sniper Elite series. I myself waited for the Epic Store's exclusivity to end before I got this otherwise I would have had it at launch. Love this game and it's loads of fun online.

One of the best survival horror games I've ever played and probably the best since Silent Hill 2. This game gives an incredible amount of playtime and replay value for a game of this genre and along with the extra game modes, anyone concerned with value for their money will be completely satisfied buying this game.
