So I finally got my hands on this roguelike dungeon crawler after a year of having it in my wishlist and I have to say I was not dissappointed.
The story, the controls, the art, the music all so unique and beautiful and pretty challenging too, so lets see.

Pros:
  • Beautiful and colorful asthetic.
  • Nice music
  • Resposive controls
  • Versus mode
  • Interesting story
  • Every enemy is playable

Cons:
  • Awful tutorial
  • Co-op riddled with bugs and a shared camera
  • Enemy design could be better

Keep in mind:
  • Really challenging.
  • Platforming elements

So lets start with the good why don't we.
This game looks beautiful, it absolutely does. It's colorful, pleasant to look at and the animations are nothing short of great. You won't get tired of listening to the music either. Although the design of the enemies is not the best.

The story is really interesting, it seems like it is a twist on a story from the 1890's but I wouldn't know. For me it was really unique and the presentation of it all was one of the things that kept me interested although it had a rather abrupt ending that leaves little to no closure but aside from that the game being roguelike, the respawns, the monsters and pretty much everything is explained by the nature of the story. They all mix together nicely. There's some decent voice acting as well. .

The combat... Here is what a lot of people have a problem with. I think it's because they go into the game expecting something else. The game includes 3 characters, 2 of which are unlockable. One fast character, one slow heavy hitter and one with a crazy reach.
You can have up to 3 specials with each character and there are 5 in total for each one. You can bind each special to whichever direction you want, front, up or down

The combat system is based around cancels. Canceling your current move / animation to do a fast combo, canceling from normal to special to dodge etc. You can have up to 3 cancel points which act like stamina. There's also a block and grab button, the grab ignores the enemy block. You can upgrade specials with up to 3 different traits. One for defence, extra damage and mana regeneration. When the mana bar is full you can do a seal attack and the enemies you hit will be marked. If you defeat them in time and if you are on the same level as them you can capture them and turn into them. Here is where the game shines the most for me. Each and every enemy you encounter, bosses included, is playable each with their own skillset. It's amazing and there's a decent enemy variety.
I personally love all of it. The mechanics are robust and the controls are responsive.

The AI. So when you first play this game you will get your butt kicked in and you will be so frustrated you will want to punch a hole through your monitor. Fear not, it does get better, although you will have to read a couple of guides. This should never be the case but the tutorial and in-game guide are not good at all. There IS a trainning mode where you can experiment at your own pace though.

It will seem like they are reacting based on what button you just pressed but it really is just AI done right. With time you will get better and you will feel good about overpowering it. Some people though give up from the first hour and write a negative review on steam

The platforming. There's a certain degree of challenge to be found in the platforming elements as well. Lots of traps which you can use in your advantage in fights as well. The procedural generation is done really well. With most dead ends leading to trasure / check points and sometimes secret "doors".

So the actual bad of the game
The multiplayer. Now there are 2 modes. The coop and the fighting mode which acts as a regural fighting game with each person having 2 characters. That mode works as intended for the most part but the coop is buggy as hell. If you actually manage to get through the connection lost errors you will encounter the following:
Your character level resetting to lvl 1. Don't worry it's only for the game session (not working as intended)
Knocked down and not being able to get up.
A looooot of lag.
SHARED CAMERA. IT'S GREAT WHEN YOU FALL IN A PIT AND YOU CAN'T SEE WHERE YOU ARE (working as intended)
At least there's local coop as well... Plug in a second controller and play with a friend of yours.
Also the game comes with it's fair share of crashes. Mainly when you alt tab and tab back in but it's not a big deal.

All in all this game is great aside from the coop mode. Which will turn a lot of people away. Worth full price if you don't mind the multiplayer and definitly on a sale. Usually drops around to ~3$.

So... Mad Max eh? This game had it harsh. A new IP released at the same time as MGSV:TPP thus being overshadowed by it. Most professional reviewers wrote it off as really repetitive, while that is true, people easily forget that every single game is repetitive. The game is good, not the best one around but still able to provide with tons of hours of fun.

So here goes

This is a post apocalyptic 3D person action game with elements of RPG's

Pros
  • Tons of Content
  • Immersive World
  • Fun Car Combat
  • A lot of Vehicle Customization
  • Decent Enemy Vehicle Variety and AI
  • Beautiful Scenery
  • In Game Screenshot Mode
  • Great Optimization

Cons
  • Bad Max Upgrades
  • Bad On-Foot Enemy Variety
  • Not Enough Vehicle Gameplay (other than driving around)
  • Rushed Story
  • Copy and Paste Bosses

Notable Features
  • Servicable Arkham Style Combat
  • No Memorable Music

The game is filled to the brim with things you can do, from simple scavenging locations to taking down big scary camps which can be quite challenging at times (at least taking down the perimeter defences)
Now this is the main reason this game is judged a lot and I don't think thats fair at all. Every activity you do makes sense and it all helps immerse you into this world. This is something most other open world games DON'T have. Also the places you visit vary a lot and there is a surprising attention to detail you wouldn't expect from this.

The car combat is the strong point of this game.
The on-foot combat is nothing to write home about, just a simpler arkham style mechanic (as if it wasn't simple enough) but it is servicable. The problem doesn't lie with its existence but that you do a lot more on-foot combat rather than in the car. For every convoy you fight there are 3 more camps to take down and a lot more bosses on foot rather than vehicle bosses (which one would expect from a game like this but sadly it isn't the case).

There is a decent enough enemy variety when it comes to cars although most cars are the same across the different enemy factions of the game, the on-foot enemies however, while the game does try to make it out like there are a lot of different types of them, they mostly behave the same, one will have a simple signature move but other than that they will attack one at a time in most cases and almost all of the attacks can be countered the same way. There's only 1 different soldier across the different factions.
There are a couple of vehicle bosses but they are really late in the game and there were only 2 types of on-foot bosses and one of the 2 was coppied for about 10 BLOODY TIMES and the only thing that changes every time was the weakness. They hardly changed the appearence.
The AI was fun to go against while on car, the different types of enemies worked well together and provided a challenge. Kept you on your toes and made you prioritize your targets, on-foot however all they did was charge at you.

The visuals aren't bad at all and the game runs smooth as butter, the view distance is admirable and they have managed to make a desert really beautiful to look at, filled with all sorts of different things to explore. Sound quality was ok but there were some syncining issues here and there nothing gamebreaking. Mouse can be used in the GUI so there's nothing to worry about there. I ended up turning the music off because the music was simply MEH at best. It was just made to fit the situations and to be honest the only time I actually noticed any music playing was during the camp fights... I just thought the game was much more enjoyable without it, at parts I ended up turning on my own music.

The customizations for Max are really generic, especially the skills, unlocking moves like disarming someone or bashing their heads into the wall is laughable and unlocking those with parts no less but the vehicle customizations is where it's at (yet again, what a surprise) Not simply upgrades that make your car better but there is some choice to be had, if you want a fast car you will have to drop the defence and attack and if you want a tank you will be really slow or you can balance it out, it's up to you although I would really appreciate more car bodies. I mean 3 of them look really similar for crying out loud and there's only six. There's also a bit of base management. All you really do is gather scrap for them and find parts for their projects. Once you have fully completed a stronghold you will never run out of ammo, fuel, water etc again. So that kind of defeats the purpose of conservation.

The story is... well.... eh.... Sigh

There's an in-game screenshot mode with different options and themes which I find awesome and a feature most games should have. I spent a decent amount of time with it.

This game had a lot of potential but there's still a lot of fun to be had. Definitely recommended to completionists and the rest, grab it while it is on sale.

Having bought this game for 39c I wasn't expecting much at all but it surprised me.
Pros
  • Nice Artstyle.
  • Intriguing and mysterious story.
  • Some Meaningful choices.

Cons
  • Very VERY short.
  • Forgettable soundtrack (not necessarily a con but still.)

It is a Visual Novel in the style of a comic book. Pretty neat little artstyle and I do love my comic books.
The story is set in modern times and follows a rather generic man in his boring life when suddently one day something weird and unexpected happens for once in his miserable and predicting life. Suddently everything changed for him.
I absolutely loved the game, everything felt intriguing and mysterious up until the last chapter. You don't know who to trust, what they really want from you. The game does a spectacular job to make you doubt every single person. I wasn't too fond of the ending but it wasn't bad.
The soundtrack is not anything spectacular but it does the job.
Keep in mind the game is really, really short though. It will take you about 2 and a half hours if you really take your time with it.

It simply is a nice experience to go through and for 39c ? It's a steal. I recommend this game at full price as well.

I've been a die hard fan of Dynasty warriors since I was 4 years old (lol), that's when I played the first hack and slash dynasty warriors game. Despite that I'll still give a subjective review of the game.
I loved it because you could just be a soldier in a battlefield, something I always wanted. The games have changed a "little" since then. Some for better some for the worse.
Anyway lets start

Pros:
  • You can be a COMPLETE BADASS
  • 4 different modes with a lot of content
  • A huge selection of music
  • Option for Japanese / English dub
  • YOU CAN BE A COMPLETE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BADASS?!
  • Full controller support (and the game is best played that way)
  • A huge selection of different characters, each with their own unique weapon and moveset

Cons:
  • False advertising
  • Overpriced DLC
  • Small selection of resolutions
  • It's not that challenging (at least for me)
  • Can get a bit tad repetitive

Detailed version:
The game is based on the novel the romance of the three kingdoms, which is based on the historical time period of china that the three kingdoms occured with a bit more fiction involved and a few characters that didn't exist but it includes all the major fights and events.
You are just a badass soldier in a battlefield, with godlike powers that can kick everyones ass! Until Lu Bu comes along and kicks your ass . Over 70 characters if I recall correctly and each has their own unique weapon and moveset. There is simply no way you won't find someone you like.

There are campaigns for every one of the three kingdoms. + The jin kingdom and a Lu Bu campaign. If you don't know who Lu Bu is shame on you.
Each campaign has the "true" path and what would have happened if (insert kingdom) had won (insert battle) plus a few extra stages that cover some other battles.
It also includes a free mode in which you can select whichever character you like, play whatever battle you desire siding with whatever army you feel like.
Also a challenge mode with a few other "mini games" per say which challenge you to beat a highscore and then there's the ambition mode. Which is a much more grindy empires version of the game. You select your character, build your own empire, fight and recruit officers etc.

Xbox controllers work just fine, I personally use PS3 with motionjoy, it works perfect, I don't get why some other people have problems with their controllers.

Did I mention the huge selection of badass music?

HOWEVER

This is not a bad port but it is NOT a good one either. While it runs on 60 fps with no problems and everything on high and it looks "OK", the game is being falsely advertised. The pictures in the previews are from the PS4 version while the port was from the PS3 version, it says that it has online coop but it is nowhere to be found. Only splitscreen.
A lot of resolutions are missing, I mean how can you get THAT wrong.
Don't get me started on the DLC. Overpriced garbage. Only 2 of them are worth it, the stages DLC but even those still cost way too much.

And finally a gripe I've had with these games since DW6. They are just a little bit too easy. You would expect at least enemy officers to fight normally but no they don't. They are but dolls for you to test your awesome movesets. High difficulties will make them hit a bit more but nothing crazy. It will mostly up their health. Dynasty warriors Strikeforce for the PsP has fixed this problem but another company makes that game. Since they are revamping dynasty warriors 9 I hope this problem will be fixed.

Final verdict:
For die hard fans of the series this is a must buy. For people who like hack and slash wait for a sale (50% off is more than ok) and buy it. You will have tons of fun but if you are not a fan of Hack n Slash this game is not going to change your mind about them.
