Animals kill for survival and to ease their hunger. Cash kills to entertain sickening masses through a perverted director's snuff film. What they both have in common? Being at the top of the food chain.

Será que o fim justificam os meios? Aqui sim.

Glory to Mankind - The superb game that is NieR: Automata.

NieR Automata is one of those scarce, rare games that can make such an lasting impression onto the player even years after experiencing it.

It had been roughly six years since I first laid my eyes upon Yoko Taro's masterpiece, and something just drawn me in and no, I don't mean it was 2B's ass- well, sorta. There is a Brazillian youtuber in which I'm an decade old subscriber called "Zangado", whose made a video back in 2017 playing the prologue of Automata and sharing his initial thoughts. The first thing that stood out to me back then was the music, it is so different from anything I heard at the time that it just took a grasp of me, being something so beautiful and mesmerizing, I knew I've just founded a gem between marbles.
My first impression with the gameplay was pretty positive, I haven't seen a game mix bullet-hell mechanics to hack-n slash before, the camera positioning also being very dynamic, making the gameplay reinvent itself whenever it could.
The story told in the game's prologue is a bold one: about an yet unknown android called 2B and her partner 9S, both having the mission to destroy the Goliath class enemy inside an abandoned factory. Looks plain on first sight, but the way it is told makes it stand out, much so that even after all these years, I still wondered what had happened with both 2B and 9S after their final resolution in the prologue.

2B or not 2B? Here lies the question

Fast forward to 2023. In this very year, I had the pleasure to play the game for the first time- and it wasn't what I was expecting in any way, instead being much more than I could ever possibly fathom.

NieR is a game were the player really has to have the balls to continuously keep getting through, because you're drawn so deep into the story that mere events can change your entire mood depending on it, and I particularly had to take a break after a certain point because it was so much to bear, and that's something that never ocurried to me before, I could really feel the characters, the story, having a deeper meaning inside of me as it went on.

With no rush at all, I went beyond the limits in this game, making the most that I could had on a first playthrough, embracing my mistakes as they were out of my reach, trying to learn as much as possible via the game files, cutscenes, clearing out interactions with other NPCs, since this was the game I was craving for so long after all and I am NOT- a single bit- unsatisfied.
NieR Automata really can, and really WILL touch you deep with is storytelling and music, making itself an very lasting experience aside from every game you've played, because this is not just a silly little game, this is art in it's purest form.

Have a taste of its terrific music- by Keiichi Okabe!

Thank you for reading my review. I really hope you do play the game and if you want to, share your thoughts with me!

Signalis is a marvel of its genre. A modern survival-horror so unique, with a story so rich, that found itself a place in my heart, being one of the few game I really- and I mean really- enjoyed playing through. I didn't rushed it a bit, and it was amazing.
The story is dense, rich with charisma and information, the world created here is fantastic, and you really feel a part of it due to how much attention was put to each little detail.

Thank you so much for this game, thank you so much for this experience.
I will never forget Signalis, I will never forget my promise.

Let me start saying this: Rise of The Tomb Raider is an absolute fantastic game from start to finish, from top to bottom, [í] do leme ao pontal! [/i]

ROTR acts just like Tomb Raider 2 was to Tomb Raider 1 - it uses the same foundation (funny because "foundation" is also the name of the engine) expanding on its contents making a much richer game. You can expect to see plenty of what you saw in the first time here, but way more refined - and beautiful! boy how this game excels at being such a pretty game with its new generation graphics. I was awestruck with the scenery - expect to see snowy mountains and frozen lakes that makes even the player feel cold (and much more I won't spoil) - with the animal life, with the characters and of course - this brings us to Lara.

How did Lara Croft performed in this game? In advance, much better than in the first game. You might say - "in the first game she was unexperienced and imature, also she was suffering a lot for a girl at that age" - I don't disagree with you at all, and to this Lara exist, 2013's Lara had to go through all she went. But hangs the question: "why is she better in this game?" - Well, simply put, she is the one looking for trouble over here, not the other way around. It reminded me of the old games, when she went to Egipt, Tibet, China and Antarctica ALL BY HERSELF, in search of a relic, in search for something she desires. Well, I do miss the simplicity which the older games had, like, she just does what she does because she wants to, not because that was her papa's life goal - like in this game.
Back to Lara- here she has a purpose, and she is determined to go after her dad's most important discovery, take what it takes. "And what does it takes?" Oh, it takes a hella lot I'll tell you that, and that's where you -the player- comes into place, living the whole adventure, guiding Lara towards her goal.

How the game holds itself? On the legs of it's predecessor, being innovative in a lot of aspects. TR 2013 suffered from a general lack of purpose, I always wondered to myself when playing "why am I doing this? what sense does this makes?" Want an example? Hunting animals in the first game was so.. off. The only thing you've got after killing those animals was so EXP, and that is way too sadistic for my taste to farm for XP, but in ROTR they fixed that. Now you hunt animals and carve them, to collect resources, being able to craft items with them (much better now!).
A new aspect I could list is how well diversed the game is in its settings and objectives, making the adventure much more enjoyable. It took me around 52 hours to complete 100% of the game, so I sure liked its objetives!

The combat here is phenomenal just like in the first game - and much more dynamic too! You can craft items in a flight to use agaisnt your enemies, like a Molotov through combining a bottle, cloth and some oil. Lara does hit harder this time, having the double of pickaxes now and a much more vast arsenal than before.

As you had already guessed, yes, I really enjoyed this game and every tiny bit of effort that was put into it, putting Rise of the Tomb Raider right next to my other two favorite titles in the franchise - Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider Anniversary.

And that's it! Go play the game, you will like it very much.

A phenomenal game.

As an Tomb Raider game, I highly recommend veterans and newcomers to give TR 2013 a try. It DOES feels different from the past releases, but different in a good way.

As we all know, we had a new Lara Croft within this entry, and we get to know more about her throughout the game, including the way she deals with every misfortune put upon her. New Lara makes a good job to introduce the reboot series, having more of a female Rambo grip than any other. It's the very first time that I envision Lara as a survivor, when before she felt to me much more like an adventurer, always managing to have the upper hand by clever thinking and being very bold, where in this game she is pretty much the underdog until half of the story.
Lara will do anything to stay alive and to keep her friends safe, I really liked that!

The whole game is very consistent from start to finish, making the whole adventure much more seamless and with less halts, even giving the player a chance to take a break and inhale some fresh air once in a while (something that Tomb Raider 3 didn't even considered to). It takes up to 16 - 18 hours to complete, and if you want to do 100%, 50 hours should be enough.

The controls here are very, very good. One thing I've always liked about Crystal Dynamics is how they manage to implement such great controls for Lara, making her feel the most swift and agile possible.

Combat here is the best it ever had been, never liked how combat worked on the previous entries and it does feel archaic, but here it is very refined and works really well. Lara cycles through 5 weapons to fight against her enemies, so in almost every fight I changed weapons in a flight, rapidly changing the pace of the fight in my favor and giving myself the advantage I needed.

I liked the story, it is original with some few nods here and there to other titles. I like how important fundamentally interwined japanese culture is to the story, so that's a plus.

Is it different? A lot. Is it bad? Not by a chance.

9/10
