The game play mechanics are nothing new at all. Sight Jack is a mechanic from Siren which has less substance to it in this game. Plays like Callisto Protocol which is not a new mechanic either. Jumping from person to person might be the only unique game play element. The setting and story is the only unique mention about this game. At this rate I just want a real horror game from this dev who have great experience with such. It's all there.

meh.
Music is horrible 90% of the time.
Edit. Deleted from my library. Boring in every aspect. You have to have some sort of high level tism to enjoy this garbage.

DEADZONES ARE NOW OFFICIALLY BROKEN AS OF 03/31/2024. Way to go! I, in fact, am going to be deleting this hunk of bloat garbage from my steam library. You all should do the same. We are fools for paying for something like this. Just pretend it never was real. These people will have no money to survive as long as you make sure it doesn't get bought from consumers. Spread the word. It is a trash product.

Pretty good. Lighting could be a lot better. Lip animations are awful. It doesn't matter if it's in Japanese or English. They are badly animated.

Not worth full price. If only the unnecessary addons went towards a widescreen view and HD sprite assets. They have a complete remake OST of the entire series and did not use any of that. Buy at 50% off. The remixs they supplied are not part of any OST. Complete missed opportunity for actual work from Capcom and INtI Creates if INTI even had a part in their own game.

The first 2 levels were really polished with atmosphere and lighting... After that it just drops off and becomes less stealth and survival and more action to the point you start fighting waves of zombies and looting them which were not in the first 2 levels. For a horror game there sure is a lot of sunlight and blue skies. The game turns into a shoot and loot and nothing becomes scary or at least creepy anymore. Bosses can one-shot you with their cutscene attack. Not a good horror game. Just another shoot and loot. Controls are bad as well.

Well... it's fine. The game is way easy. Level design is pretty bland. Every areas design just feels like a generic corridor maze. The cathedral level doesn't make sense and was extremely boring. At this point I know what the game was gonna be and I just wanted to beat it and get my moneys worth. The generic UE4 Lighting were kinda pretty.
The story is definitely for people who like anime. The characters just say a lot of meaningless sappy dialog. Art is the same way. Just generic big eyed tiny mouth anime. I found myself skipping the walking segments as it just felt like cheap gameplay filler. There was so much of it. Cutscenes weren't particularly interesting. Just the same convo different place. There were some bugs where I would get invade and the last enemy would get stuck in an animation and I couldn't complete the invasion. There are some unpolished animation like the knights walking the cathedral area. A lot jarring cloth clipping. Sound design was fine. Music was very meh.
I bought this for $30 w/DLC Which I think is worth the price. Definitely not worth $60

Do not support this version. This version is based off the PS2 first release. The XBOX version had loads of extra features:
GENMA ONIMUSHA (XBOX)
"New areas to explore, evolving enemies, enhanced action and modified difficulty level!"
"New attack modes and stronger enemies -- more than twice the gameplay of the original!"
"Dodge enemy attacks and fight your enemies in a tug-of-war to absorb powerful Green Souls."

None of these are in this PC release. Buy the XBOX version for cheaper and better experience.

Do not recommend.

My favorite indie developer that yet again disappointed me with another Amnesia game. I really don't think they can top SOMA or their Penumbra games.

It's unfortunate that Amnesia 3 resorted to jump scares as their horror mechanic for this game. Things flash on your screen for the sake of startling you with quick imagery. You cannot be anymore generic than that. I don't care if the jumps startles have meaning in this game. It's cheap with no effort. A lot of hand holding. Especially with the baby. Why do you have to have the blue lighting to help tell you when to care for your baby? The idea should have been to remember on your own. If you don't remember to care for the baby obviously things change but the game REMINDS you to take care of your baby instead of the player remembering themselves. One nice thing about SOMA is those weird holes you can put your hand in throughout the game. The game doesn't teach you about them and gives you a feeling of "should I be doing this?". I was already caring for the baby before i was told about the mechanic and then it introduced it later on.

Jumps scare loop. I had noticed in the beginning, because I'm just naturally slow at games, that some enemy scares loops. Go back in room > Monster kicks barrel > Slams door > puts hands through crack in the wall. Super turn off.

I was really amazed with the opening facial animations but once I started playing the character the model looked really unpolished as you can see in her shadow. She is slouched over with her arms out to the side and it just simply looks unfinished. I hate it when i see her shadow because her pose is not right at all and looked like someone posed her with the GMOD Physics gun. I think the character talks too much minus the baby parts.

I'll be buy Frictional Games discounted from now on as I cannot tell when they will release a great game anymore. It's been on and off ever since the first Amnesia (Which was great).
