Did you ever play the old Fallout games or the newer Wasteland games and think, "man I wish I could play something like this in real time?"

Did you ever play Kenshi and imagine controlling a single character, ARPG style, instead of having to amass armies, or spend hours levelling up just to defend your homestead?

Did you ever play a modern Fallout FPS action game and wish it hearkened back to when it was an actual RPG with interesting characters and questlines?

That's what the one man who developed this game did; and instead of just wishing for it, he began to realise it into what will very likely be a massive cult hit. There's so much care, attention to detail, and sheer love of the art of gaming for this to go under the radar.

Many hours will be spent playing this game--already on the verge of becoming a masterwork of creative game design while doing very little in the way of anything actually new. There's not much you haven't seen here before if you've explored the post-apocalyptic survival genre, and yet this game somehow feels fresher than most. It doesn't feel like a chore of mechanics punishing you just for existing, it feels like an inviting world full of new things to discover.. that just happen to be extremely dangerous.

Narrative is sharp, and to the point. No long-winded speeches and boring cinematics. Just quippy, quick exchanges and back to the action.

You can kill anything and anyone for any reason. The world is open to your decisions... but they won't always be the smart one. Dying horribly is part of the game for sure, but it rarely feels like punishment just for playing.

Combat is surprisingly simple yet powerful. You can be a dodge/roll master a la Dark Souls, or you can be a sniper, or you can use clever gadgets and magic.

The pixel art is gorgeous, full of intent and organic detail. The world feels alive, despite being mostly chunky, 2D sprites.

While the game is not yet finished, and is still missing the bulk of its main storyline, it's not hard to see the flesh of something here which has that extra something special that once completed, will stand the test of time with some of the greats in modern indie gaming like Stardew Valley or Factorio.
