Despite being on the shorter end, Crossroad OS is quite the gem of a game - the puzzles have more than enough variety, they definitely don't overstay their welcome and generally the game does really well at keeping everything fun, new and interesting.

Although, I do wish there was a bit more of a challenge to the puzzles, even if was presented as an optional challenge. I only really found myself struggling at the actual final puzzle for a brief moment. That being said, this game is full of charm and honestly worth it for a brief, but good experience - even if you breeze through the puzzles!

Roboquest is a game I've been looking forward to since early on in its development and its Early Access period, and it's a game I'd say delivers extremely well on its promises. With nearly 30 hours into the game, I have had an extremely good time and yet there's still more to do.

Now, Roboquest promises to deliver a lot of things, such as fast-paced movement, various builds (whether its weapons or upgrades), several classes, persistent upgrades (roguelite elements) and so much more.
  • Fast-paced movement is something Roboquest delivers extremely well on, with several launch pads in every level, as well as powerful launch pads in more predetermined spots. This alone already lets you build up quite a lot of movement speed, before you factor in upgrades that increase your movement speed, rocket-jumping, as well as other upgrades and buffs that I'll keep a mystery for you to figure out!

  • Various builds are part of the core gameplay loop in Roboquest and alongside upgrades it makes every run feel different. The upgrade system works great too, it features both perks and upgrades, where you first pick a perk and then unlock upgrades for said perk or you can also just pick from perks that are generally available. As for weapons you have affixes that go between several rarities, as well as the chance of having an alternative fire with some examples being a rocket-jump, a barrier or a marking shot.

  • Several classes are another major core piece of Roboquest and there's a different preference and playstyle to each class, although when starting you will most likely only have Guardian, but unlocking a few others should be an easy task. Instead of describing any of them, I'd recommend you to give each class a few tries, with different builds/perks and see how it feels, as one perk was part of what made me start to enjoy Commando a lot more and then I loosely built my preferences around that.

  • Persistent upgrades is the roguelite element in Roboquest and it mostly exists within your basecamp, where you have several tiers of permanent upgrades that unlocks the next tier after you've bought enough upgrades. You also have gadgets which will make a huge difference, both in terms of gameplay, as well as your sustainability, as these are unlocked progressively. Think of them as side-quests, some are unlocked through simple brief tasks, while others take a few runs to complete, but once you unlock them they will automatically be equipped (in the run, not after the run).
Roboquest still has so much more to offer though - for example the co-op, but I have yet to try it so I can't speak on whether it's good or not unfortunately. One thing I can speak on however, is the soundtrack and out of everything in this whole game, despite how great it is, I have to admit that I still can't get enough of the soundtrack. It's the one, but also the only, time I went ahead and bought the soundtrack too, and they knocked it out of the park.

With all that being said, it's such a solid game that regardless of what you're looking for, I can almost guarantee you that as long as you enjoy a fast-paced roguelite shooter, Roboquest delivers and gives you such a great time, but also kicks your ass simultaneously.
