I'm submitting this review in hopes that Valve gives this game the bare minimum developer support it so desperately needs.

A great co-op experience, reminds me of a lot of the fun I used to have in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer back on the Xbox 360, with some elements reminiscent of Gears of War, The Division 2, and Payday among others.

Edit August 6th: After the CEO stepping down to step into a more creative role to help with the dev side of things, including handling the ongoing needlessness of nerfing fun weapons in a PvE game, I'm flipping my review in protest of this constant negligence. Today's developer live stream showcased dev playing this game and, over and over, they did NOT know how to do many of the basic things expected of Helldivers players, all on low difficulty at that. They don't play this game, so it seems it's not possible for them to know what they're doing is causing such frustration. Will change my review if they fix this.

Edit September 17: After speaking of it for some time, they made good on their commitment to revisit the weapon balancing and seem to finally be on the right path to sustaining a fun game rather than removing things that players have been enjoying.

This would've been fine if it was communicated at all beforehand it would be purchasable after launch, but this is not a good look for early supporters of the game.

An entirely unique game which few have tried to emulate, this port of the Dreamcast classic is true to the original and still plays like a charm. Pioneering cel-shading on 3D models, pumping out a diverse and energizing soundtrack, and uniquely about graffiti as a sub culture in futuristic urban Japan, it's no wonder why this action platformer from SEGA still has a cult following of avid fans. Fully controller compatible, so you can play it like you remember it.

JET SET RADIOOOOOOO!!!

I can't in good faith recommend this game to anyone, especially Mega Man fans.

When Capcom gave Mega Man the cold shoulder, we trusted in Inafune (Mega Man's creator) to help fill that void in our gaming library. Mighty No. 9 is the snake oil of Mega Man games, filled with broken dreams and anti-consumer decisions made by businessmen. Even when you ignore all of the drama and insanity that went into making this game, the game itself is pretty bland and slapped together. Mega Man X1 and beyond are amazing compared to this fraud of a title. Comcept's game looks like pure amateur-hour compared to many other indie games I've played, and that's a damn shame since so many "veterans" worked on this project.

Gameplay is very meh, visuals are 2008 Xbox Live Indies quality, and the story+acting is packed with tons of cringe. Mega Man successor this is not. Normally I'd say wait until it's on sale, but honestly, I think throwing 5 bucks at this is a tad over-generous.

But hey, it has online! You wanted Mega Man with online modes, right?? :/

Updated 6/8:
I have been updating this review since launch, but after Capcom decided there is no May update, despite what their content roadmap told us months ago, I've decided that I have no desire to keep updating the review.

Below is a review of older major updates and issues with the game that have been there for months.

Updated 4/29:
+ Guile has been added, and is temporarily free for everyone
+ New classic stage added, Air Force Base
- New stage costs fight money, and still no Zenny shop in place (I am personally wildly speculating that one reason the Zenny shop isn't here yet is to give plenty of time for fighters to spend their free Fight Money on useless crap so when the shop launches, things like Characters will need to be bought with real money.)
+/- Rage Quitter system has been implemented. While this in itself is a good thing, the effectiveness of it is yet to be seen. Even the offical announcement from Capcom seems to not get your hopes up yet too quick: "The system will continue to be refined over time and more enhancements will be implemented in the future."
+ Enhancements for online matchmaking have been added, but it's to be seen whether this helps across the board.
- During the week of and after this update, some ranked online matches can take several minutes to find opponents and on top of that takes over a minute to load the fight.

Updated 4/4:
First set of major updates happened:
+ 8 Player Lobbies are finally in
- But load times to get into fights seemed to have increased (up to 1.5 minutes)
+ Various tutorials, trials and demonstrations are added, so newer players can get familiar with the game
+ New character Alex has been added, is temorarily free for all players to use
+ In-Game shop has been launched, can purchase additional colors or costumes using in-game Fight Money
- In-Game shop for Zenny (real money) has still not launched, so only story costumes are available.
- Grinding it out in difficult Survival is still the only way to get the basic 03-08 costume colors for each character, and no difficulty balancing has happened yet.
- Still no Arcade mode for single player
- Story Mode is still minimal at this time.
- Searching for fights still can take as long as 5 minutes for Ranked/Casual
- Setting high filters for connections can still place you in fights with bad connectivity
- Still no DINPUT compatibility for PS3/PS4 controllers and fight sticks

The above negatives are what's keeping my recommendation to "no" until more fixes/features arrive.

Updated 2/17:
+ Online connectivity has started to level out. Much better, but not quite fully fixed yet. This is a big issue because no actual progress can me made while offline/disconnected (levels, character colors, fight money, etc.)

I do not regret my purchase, but for many, I know $60 to drop on an Early Access-esque title is a bit much to ask (I paid $45 via GMG), so despite that I'll play this game, I just can't recommend it to others until some more things get fixed/patched/updated. (Waited several months for major changes, so no desire to update this review any further).

I've played this before when it was a "Free" to Play on Xbox 360, and it's not better here at all.

This game is a money-grubbing waste of your time [and wallet]. Any weapon you buy will break down fast, and the majority of guns are pay-to-rent. Very heavy use of cash shop for gaining the upper hand by using temporary items.

Go play something else.
